That is so awesome! I've never known anyone who had baby sea horses, but I imagine it's very stressful to find shrimp small enough for baby sea horses to eat. Good luck and I hope most, if not all of them, make it. Is there an age when you're in the clear to know whether or not they'll survive?

I'm sorry to hear that two babies didn't make it. I hope a significant number of the rest make it! How long before they are out of woods?

I'm sorry to hear that two babies didn't make it. I hope a significant number of the rest make it! How long before they are out of woods? Six weeks appears to be the turning point from what I have read. I'm down to 5 now, and only one of them appears to be eating. Again, I'm not surprised as they are likely preemies, the father is very young and I wasn't prepared for them. I'm trying to find a spot for another small tank for rearing babies so I will be more prepared next time.

So, do you know who the proud parents are?
DH did not know what he was looking at, "What is that a canning jar?". Yep! Then I scrolled down the page to show him the adults. Love the Pony "heavy petting" video too!

So, do you know who the proud parents are? The momma is Widget, but the boys are too hard to tell apart. The next batch will also be Widget's, as you can see from the video, there's been some hanky panky in the tank. I really need to give the boys a better look over now that they are older and see if I can find some way to tell them apart. Poppet has mask like markings around her eyes that stay the same no matter what color she changes to. The boys are both brown and white striped at the moment.

One baby left. He's holding his own for now. I just hatched out a new batch of brine shrimp for him, which he ate like a greedy pig. I am expecting a new batch of babies in a few weeks. Working on a setup for them now-small tank, 3 brine shrimp hatcheries, bottom lighting. Hoping that being prepared will give a better survival rate for the next batch.

Can you tell the pony is growing? I'm sad he's just one now! Yup-his head is definitely bigger, and he's swimming with much more control. It's fun to watch him swim after his food. I'll see if I can get a video of him tomorrow.

Here is a brief video of him. The little swimmers that you see are his lunch-baby brine shrimp. About half way through, you see me setting a spice jar next to the tank. When he was born, he was about the size of the "P" in "Chili Powder" Primus at 2 weeks
