No names, lol....they don't sit still long enough to count. Daddy is doing well...waiting to see if we have any more. They aren't likely to survive, but I'm going to do my damnedest to try to keep them alive! Emergency run to the pet store tomorrow to see if they have any live copepods-minuscule shrimp that baby seahorses can eat. I'm going to hatch some brine shrimp eggs too...as soon as I can find another air line. This feels like giving birth in a taxi on the highway! Somebody boil some water!!!!!

Am I the only one who wants to know why it is that the OP has a mating pair of seahorses? LOL. (I am assuming you have an aquarium, but I could be wrong.)

The OP has 3 saltwater aquariums-one being home to four seahorses. Poppet, Widget, Tristan and Dunstan. Here's a pic of Poppet and Widget:

Wow, they're awful tiny! I don't know anything about seahorses but I know I can't keep anything alive in an aquarium. <<sigh>>

We were at an aquarium a couple of years ago and the timing was such that we were able to watch a sea horse birth. It was pretty awesome...
Congratulations!

Good luck with the babies. Sounds like a lot of work. I just hope no one expects to prepare any food or eat over the next couple of days. The counters are now covered with brine shrimp hatcheries, seahorse nurseries, air pumps and tubing.

Did you actually see them being born? Does the dad stick around or help? Do they lay eggs or do the babies just pop out. This is just so cool! It's obvious I know nothing about sea horses. Now I'm off to google!
