The other project I really like is Sophie's Garden
Not sure where I'd put it, but I really like it. That is what I'm making next! Just waiting on my yarn order from the UK. I love your color combo and can't wait to see it finished! Lavender is such a soothing color.

Would anyone be interested in a refupea group on Ravelry? I think it would be a great place to share projects and keep up with what everyone is working on.

I didn't see that thread, and yes, this was one of the other options I was considering. I really like the look of those as well. Let's not point out the obvious that I live in a hot climate and the chances of me needing multiple afghans is slim...

I've been knitting avidly for a little over a year, and I've recently been 'thinking' of attempting crochet. I even bought one of those little books at the grocery store checkout line-- it's all about crochet. I can chain, and have done a couple of simple projects using a crocheted provisional cast-on. However, my chaining skills are terrible-- I either make really tight chains or far too lose. It is just really awkward for me to manage the hook and the yarn tension. I suppose I could get it eventually-- I never thought I'd be able to knit and now I can. pjaye, your work is beautiful! I love the color combo.

That's me. My hand knitted sweaters did not get used once this winter..... But my Target sweater did!

I made four pairs of knitted socks this winter - two for me and two for hubby, knitted a sweater that looks more like a vest and now am crocheting a top. I don't have a pattern for the crochet, I am just crocheting it the shape I need for the front and back following an outline I found on a pattern with a fancy stitch. Got the bottom of the back done so far. My problem is I get almost done and then don't finish it up. But, I mostly crochet hats for chemo patients and VA patients. Sometimes I will knit them though knitting takes longer and I am not as sure in the sizing of the knitted hats.

Your afghan is going to be beautiful. I crochet every chance I get, I taught myself about four years ago, I was having issues with anxiety and needed something to focus on. I fell in love with it immediately. I'm currently working on a very bright ripple blanket and a shawl that I'd forgotten about.

Love the colour combination of your squares, your afghan is going to look really pretty. I just don't seem to be able to get the hang of crochet for some reason - but can, and do, knit absolutely everything. I have wanted to do one of the afghans from Attic 24 for forever and this thread has made me think about it again. So I intend to put some time in this weekend watching the British version of how to crochet......slightly different to the American and how Attic 24 instructions are written......so I don't get more confused than I am already! One day the penny has to drop and then I will be able to order even more yarn for the afghans I will be able to make!

I taught myself to crochet many many moons ago and have kept up with it over the years. I recently finished the Coast Ripple blanket/afghan from Attic 24 (it took me ages because I would put it down and pick it up months later) but I love it. But now I have started the Cosy Stripe Blanket from Attic 24 and it is working up so much faster. I only started last Saturday and I have over a fifth done already. Love the colours and the look of it. pjaye I also like the colours and look of your blanket, would love to see a picture of the finished item.

I'm also seriously considering one of those Attic 24 wavy afghans for the bed once I finish this one.
So who else has been sucked in to the hooking vortex? and what are you working on?
Not me, although I've also fallen in love with the Attic 24 afghans. I can knit a bit - I don't do it often, but am good with the basics - so I ASSumed I should be able to pick up crochet without too much difficulty. I bought some yarn and a crochet hook to practice with, but no go so far. I can't get past the starting chain! Did you try the Mikey one? How to Crochet for Beginners He breaks it down pretty well I thought. Although I wasn't learning totally from the beginning as I had done it before. I need to take a look at this one as well, I'm not quite ready to give up yet. Although with lainey and wellway as skilled hands, and both BarbaraUK and I wanting to learn, it seems to me we need a UK Pea crochet get-together!!

Oh I love crochet! (My yarn stash is partly responsible for the overwhelming 'stuff' in my other thread).
I learnt a few years ago when I was having chemo and just needed something to do with my hands. The repetitive action is very meditative and soothing. I had left it for a while and then last year a left-handed colleague wanted to learn, so I taught her and started again myself.
I'm currently working on a ripple blanket, and 300 granny squares for an afghan for our bed. It's really cold at the moment so I should get a move on!
Going to try and work out how to insert photos to show you my projects...

When I found out I was going to have a granddaughter I picked up a hook after almost 30 years. When I crocheted all those years ago I had made two ripple afghans...one huge and one small and then never did anything again. Since last summer I have made three baby/child afghans (12 point star that lainey shared here), many hats, 5 or 6 prayer shawls, scarves, a baby dress, booties, a cocoon, boot cuffs and I don't know what else. My current project is a shell afghan in three colors that my daughter chose. She picked the pattern as well. I have a photo on my phone so I'll have to add it in a separate post. pjaye...your colors and pattern are gorgeous! I'm sure you'll share the finished project with us, right? I love seeing what everyone is working on...and I tried to get dd to agree to one of those Attic 24 afghans but it was a no go. I wanted desperately to make one!

I'm about 1/3 done and it's getting heavy already. That's lovely, is that for the baby as well? Perfect colours. You've been busy with all the other projects too. Admittedly I don't usually go for the brighter colours of the Attic 24 stuff...but the more I see it the more it's growing on me.

All these projects are making me want to learn. I am just hopeless at knitting/sewing etc that I don't think I could do it without someone sitting next to me. My Mum does a bit but she loves 4 hours away LOL.
I love, love, love the ombré one linked. The colours are just gorgeous.

The pom poms are really cute, but I think they'd be far too tempting for the feline who lives here. I like the different take on the edging though.

Thank you I don't have to read the pattern anymore, it's quite a simple repeat once you get going. I did have to frog the first row a couple of times though as I just couldn't get my number of stitches right.

Your throw is going to be beautiful I took up knitting last year, which led to spinning and weaving with a RHL. After seeing the afghans the refupeas have been sharing, crochet is the next thing I want to try. i'm a spinner too! don't find too many of us! i got a wheel in high school but just got back to spinning a few years ago

I crocheted one of Attic 24's ripple blankets last year and ordered some new yarn last week from Wool Warehouse to make a ripple blanket for myself. I eagerly await the postman every day just hoping he'll bring the box with my yarn. Maybe today will be the day!

Let me know when I can place my order! I MUST have a pair of those rainbow ones in the top right of the picture. I have never crocheted in my life but looking at some of these projects I'd love to be able to do it. I learned how to knit about 9 years ago, knitted one hat and half of a jumper for my son who was a baby, and I've done nothing since. I have absolutely no recollection of how to knit. I would love to do one of those Granny Stripe blankets.

Let me know when I can place my order! I MUST have a pair of those rainbow ones in the top right of the picture. How cute are they? I saw them on Pinterest when I searched for crochet, perfect for walking around the house in winter. I went to the wool shop Morris & Sons in the city after lunch yesterday and they had so much great wool there, some really pretty variegated colours which would be perfect for those boots. Expensive though, a lot of it was over $10-$15 a ball.

I tried to teach myself with YouTube videos, but had trouble stitching into the back of the first row. I think I need someone to show me in person. That first row is the hardest thing in crochet -- it really is! I love Youtube but I agree that it can be really helpful to have someone show you in person and help you get the hang of it.
I have recently taken up crochet after not doing it for maybe 20 years or so. It actually gives me some hand pain (I have arthritis) but if I don't do it too long at one time, I'm ok. The newer ergonomic crochet hooks have helped a lot, too. I just finished my second afghan of the winter, this one for younger DS in camo variegated yarn, and now older DS wants his own afghan so I'll be shopping for yarn for his this weekend.
OP, that is an ambitious "return to crochet" project -- I am so leery of color changes because I'm not so good at them, and you are changing colors every round! I just love the colors you picked, too -- I love gray as a neutral and the colors you've paired with the grays look great.
ETA a picture of the camo afghan. I haven't woven in the ends yet (I hate that part!).
