We just got home from seeing The Founder, a drama that tells the true story of how Ray Kroc, a salesman from Illinois, met Mac and Dick McDonald, who were running a burger operation in 1950s Southern California. Very enlightening ~ you'll never look at McDonald's the same way again! We went to see it yesterday - It was really good (plus I have always loved Michael Keaton). It was so interesting and does make you look at McDonald's a bit different. Great movie! Save

We just got home from seeing A Dog's Purpose. Very cute, sad, funny, poignant movie. Glad they didn't show any end-of-life scenes like Marley & Me.

I saw Lion last p.m. and Manchester by the Sea tonight.
I really liked Lion. There are a few differences from the book. Some of the movie was apparently fictionalized. Also, if you see the movie, make *sure* to stay till the very, very end. The final scenes are the best. Really amazing how this kid survived, was nearly kidnapped into the sex trade but was then adopted into a loving family.
I was underwhelmed by Manchester by the Sea. It's depressing.

I was looking forward to A Dogs Life until the allegations of abuse surfaced.
I saw Hidden Figures last week and really enjoyed that. I was going to see Monster Trucks at the cheap theatres this weekend only because I came across them filming it while I was walking my dogs! I know it won't be a great movie but I thought it would be fun to see how many locations I recognize. We ended up with too much snow to bother driving anywhere though.

Just went and saw Hidden Figures wow such a great film I really enjoyed it!
When Katherine tells off Kevin Costner's character I started crying.
Great performances by the whole ensemble!!

Took a short break from packing to go see Split. We both enjoyed it. James McAvoy deserves recognition for his portrayal of a man with 23 personalities!

We saw The Lego Batman Movie. Went on a little longer than I would have liked but it was pretty enjoyable.

Went and saw 50 Shades Darker tonight.
I really liked it thought there was some funny parts in it. I think the chemistry was really good between Jamie and Dakota and they seemed more comfortable with each other.
Loved the soundtrack!
I think it followed the book for the most part and I think the writing was better this time.
Loved the scruff on Christian and that he smiled more.
Loved the tribute to Melanie Johnson and Working Girl via Anna/Dakota
If you're not a FSOG fan it's probably not a movie you'd like, I really enjoyed it!

We just got back from seeing Manchester By the Sea. We both enjoyed it. As others have said, the scenery was beautiful. But holy moly, am I the only one who thought Patrick looked like a young Prince Harry?

Saw Get Out last night. I thought it started slow but I ended up really enjoying it. It was touted as a comedy, horror and thriller all in one and it truly was all of those things.

I am finally gettting around to posting what I have seen recently. Since Academy Awards are tonight I'm sticking to movies nominated or with actors that are nominated.
Hidden Figures - Really liked it. Important topic but movie was so entertaining. I saw it with my best friend and she liked it a lot too.
La La Land - I adored it. It really spoke to me in a way no other movie this year has. It reminded me of the movies I watched with my grandparents as a kid but done in a modern way. Definitely my favorite musical movie that I have seen as an adult. Emma Stone was so great!
Manchester By The Sea - I thought it was a good movie but I did not like it as much as the critics. It has some light moments but it was a little too realistic and depressing for me.
Hacksaw Ridge - This one surprised me. It is an absolutely remarkable story and the movie was so well done. We saw it because of the critical acclaim and because my husband likes war/battle movies but this movie is more than just that. I never expected to like it as much as I did. Highly recommend.
Florence Foster Jenkins - I was kind of meh on this on but I do think Hugh Grant was good in it.
Hell or High Water - This is a genre I really like (western/crime). I liked it but it didn't make a huge impression on me.
Today I am seeing Arrival. Really disappointed I didn't make it yet to see Moonlight, Lion, Fences or Nocturnal Animals.

We saw "20th Century Women." Annette Bening was wonderful, and I saw Greta Gerwig as a goth-loving free spirit contrasted with Jackie Kennedy's buttoned-up secretary in "Jackie" in the same week.

I saw "The Shack." I cried. I loved it so much. I didn't really care about the controversy and thought it was beautifully done. Because the book was very dialogue drive, I felt a bit bogged down. The movie doesn't have those issues at all, so I think it's much better.
I can't wait to see it again.
Disclaimer: I do have a strong Christian faith and it's a faith-based movie.

Just saw Logan last night. It was good. I hate that he was so broody and angry but I get it. The little girl was something else. When she let loose, it was crazy. I loved the moments with the Professor and the albino guy.
We saw the Wall a couple of weeks ago. We thought it was good.
I want to see Table 19. It looks funny.

I was looking forward to A Dogs Life until the allegations of abuse surfaced. I have read several articles that say the video was doctored. People on set said there were scuba divers below the water to make sure the dog was fine. Who knows what really happened, but I tend to believe that animals are often treated better than actors in some cases. (Which I am fine with.)

We went to see "The Shack" too. I read the book back in 2009. It followed the book very well.

We saw The United Kingdom yesterday. Although it was a tad dry in parts we really liked it. I don't know the actual history but they sure made the British look bad. Props to the wife for hanging in there against all odds for love.

Saw Lion yesterday can't say enough great and fabulous things about it!!
I don't remember being so emotional during a movie since 12 years a slave. I found myself through out it crying.
Sunny Pawar was so good!
Loved the video and photos they shared while the credits rolled.

Going to the local artsy theatre this afternoon to see The Ottoman Lieutenant ... anyone seen that yet? I'm no slave to reviews, and we liked the story line and trailer.

I almost never go to movies so I've never participated in this thread. But, dh and I went to see "Hidden Figures" yesterday and LOVE it! So good! i'll buy it on DVD definitely. I also want to see "Arrival" and just bought that on DVD. In fact, I may watch it this afternoon since it's cold out and I have a cold and I'm not working tomorrow (so i can be lazy today and catch up tomorrow).

I love a movie that tells a story of someone or something I was unaware of. So now that you started going to the movies do you think you will start going regularly? If I lived in the city I'd go several times a week lol. I haven't seen Arrival.

I only go if it's something like Harry Potter, Star Wars, Lord of the Rings...that type of movie that you have to see on a big screen at least once. Or if the subject really catches my interest like "Hidden Figures" did. I'd rather just watch a DVD at home. lol.
