I don't go see a lot of movies in the theater, my husband & son are the ones who go to a lot and our daughter sometimes goes with them. We all went to Spiderman last week and I really liked it. I haven't seen the last couple Spidey movies, and I don't care about most of the superhero movies so I wasn't sure if I would.
I went with my husband & son to see Baby Driver a couple weeks ago and I really liked that.

Saw Spider Man last night and enjoyed it a lot. Classic coming of age/hero's journey movie. Liked the Iron Man mentoring aspect. LOVED the final scene in the movie with Aunt Mae. Liked how character development took precedence over explosions.

Has anyone seen House, with Will Farrell and Amy Poehler? The couple previews I've seen for it make it look funny, although I typically don't like that type of movie / humor. (I really like Talladega Nights, but that's more because it was about Nascar than because of who was in it.)
We have a couple free movie tickets, and the last couple weeks we haven't been able to find anything we want to see, even for free!! The last theater movie we saw was Wonder Woman, which I absolutely LOVED.

The wider release movies at our local chain theater are the typical ones- Cars 3, Planet of the Apes, 47 Meters Down, The Big Sick, Spiderman, Transformers, etc.
I just noticed that Churchill is showing at one of the theaters in the chain we go to! It says it was released 6/2/17?? It's only showing at the ONE theater that shows the 'artsy' movies, though.

We enjoyed that movie a lot.

Meagan Leavey is playing; that's the one about a dog, right? Good point about Churchill, because I thought it wasn't out yet, and then when I saw that, I thought I might have missed it altogether.

MEGAN LEAVEY is based on the true life story of a young marine corporal (Kate Mara) whose unique discipline and bond with her military combat dog saved many lives during their deployment in Iraq. Both DH and I liked it a lot.

It is a running joke in my family that all anyone needs to do is say the words Old Yeller and I immediately burst into tears.

When I was in London at the end of May, there were billboards all over the place for that movie. I was hoping to come home and see it, but it's not showing around here. We have tickets for Dunkirk on Saturday. I can't wait to see it.

Just got back from seeing Dunkirk. What an incredible movie ~ I think it should be shown to everyone over the age of 16.

I just saw Hacksaw Ridge on HBO a couple of days ago. Wow. Mind blown. I loved it so much! I had to leave the room a couple of times because it was so intense. I am really glad I didn't see it in the theater. I will definitely be watching it again so that I can catch everything that I missed. I don't know if I can watch Dunkirk anytime soon after that. DS1, almost 19, said that he liked HR better than Dunkirk. Lisa

We just got back from Atomic Blonde with Charlize Theron. OMG what a hot mess. I still have no idea who was who or what happened. It didn't help that about 40 or so minutes into the movie 2 older women came in and walked the entire row 2 down from where we were sitting and were talking loudly trying to find their seats. (Reserved reclining seats.) They got to the end of the row then came up two rows to where DH and I were sitting. (The theater was packed with no empty seats in the last 3 rows) They kept asking DH what row we were in but he had no idea. He told them they should go out to the lobby and figure it out. We think they were in the wrong theater. Evidently I missed a lot of the story line while this was happening and never caught up. If someone saw the movie and understood perfectly what was going on, please message me. I know she was trying to find the *list* about things the UK and maybe the US did in East Germany and now that the wall was coming down this list would be quite the embarrassment. I wasn't sure who she was working for ~ the US or UK. I guessed the US but who knows.

I've never seen so many people being beaten up and shot and still refusing to die. I'm sure a lot of men love this movie. There is a sex scene between Charlize and another woman that leaves nothing to the imagination. DH gave it a 2 out of 5.

Saw The Big Sick. I highly recommend it. Well done romantic comedy (98% on Rotten Tomatoes) with Kumail Nanjiani (of Silicon Valley), Zoe Kazan, Holly Hunter and Ray Romano. Based on Nanjiani's real life romance with his wife and script co-writer. One critic I read said that even the lesser characters were developed and you know who they are, which is probably one of the reasons I liked it so much.

DD23 and I went to see The Big Sick and we both enjoyed it. When Ray Romano's character asks Kumail for his thoughts on 9/11, we thought the "wait for it" response was alarmingly funny. Shouldn't laugh but totally did. A lot.

We liked Atomic Blonde. Wish the setting had been less dreary but I get it falls in line with the whole spy theme.

We went to see Kidnap this afternoon. It pretty much got panned by the critics and it did borderline on the ridiculous but was a semi-fun edge-of-your-seat ride.
Halle Berry played the distraught mother full of fear and rage pretty well. The thing that was distracting to me is that it was filmed in the greater NOLA area and they jumped to and from too many different locations that made absolutely no sense. I guess the only people who will notice are people who know the area well.
Definitely a movie that can wait for the DVD.

cadoodlebug, thanks for this review. I was thinking about seeing Kidnap but will likely pass now. The previews reminded me a bit of Halle Berry as a female Liam Neeson in Taken. Lisa

We rented LIFE: Horrible. I don't like sci fi horror movies at all.
Circle : Um yeah. Now I am creeped out by google.
Genius: This movie is very good. So good that I wish they would do a tv series on it. FRED

I didn't know this thread existed! Gotta get over here from the General Scrapbooking board every now and then. LOL. I <3 movies so much, so you guys are my people!
I saw Annabelle Creation on Thursday night. It was very creepy and very good. I hadn't seen the first movie, but my friend had and said this one was much better.
We are looking forward to It and Happy Death Day, which were both featured during the previews.

I saw The Dark Tower. Unfortunately I was disappointed. Since The Dark Tower is tied for my favorite book ever, I knew there was a good chance that I would not be happy with it. They kept some elements of the book but there were a couple of huge differences.
I'm curious what people that didn't read the series thought of it.
