We went to the Oscar Nominated Short live action film compilation. It was 5 short films..all nominees. I've never been to something like that, it was cool and we may see the short animated ones this week.

I saw The Greatest Showman today and loved it! I watched it 3 times in the last 7 days. It makes me happy and matinees are less expensive than a therapist. I can’t stop singing/listening to the soundtrack. I know how hostorically inaccurate it is, and yet, I’m in love with it. It seriously leaves me with a smile on my face. Ladybird was good Shape of water was visually stunning, but the story was blah for me. Jumanji was fun Planning to watch the new Marvel movie next week. I love Marvel movies. Hope this one is as good as the rest.

We just saw Black Panther today, not 3D ( it makes me dizzy). But it was a great movie. Loved the action and visuals. The story is a great explanation of how he becomes who he is. My husband is the big marvel fan, but now I am looking forward to Infinity War.

We saw the Oscar nominated animated shorts yesterday. One is a vanity piece executive produced and narrated by Kobe Bryant and made by his company. My opinion, I hope the L A people do not vote for this. Don’t get me wrong, it was well done, I don’t think it was Oscar worthy. The other nominees could all win, they were so creative.

I always see the Best Picture nominationed movies This week I saw
Phantom Thread & Three Billboards Outside Ebbing Missouri Get Out
All the Oscar Best Picture nominees that I have seen so far have been good (some years I wonder how they even are nominated)
Of these 3 movies, I liked Three Billboards the best. I still have 2 more to watch and hope I see them before The Oscars (I am currently out of town so it makes it a little harder)

DH and I watched Three Billboards Outside Ebbing Missouri last night. It was funny and dark at the same time. Frances McDormand is such an incredible actor! I enjoyed this movie quite a bit, but if you are looking for a movie that wraps up neatly at the end...this is not the movie for you.

I saw 15:17 to Paris a few days ago. I loved it despite the weak acting. Clint Eastwood directed it, and he chose to use the real people -- not actors -- to play themselves. Such a great story.
My local theater has a deal on seeing the Oscar nominees, but the timing is super bad for me as I am swamped personally and professionally at the exact time the promo is running. I might be able to catch one or them but will likely have to wait.

In our opinion there was more backstory of the kids growing up than there needed to be.

I saw Lady Bird last night and I don't know what people are thinking??? I hated that movie. There was a not a single "real" character is that movie other than her father. Watching characters continually behave poorly, making bad decisions and completely "unreal" is not my cup of tea. I've lived in the Sacramento area for the past 30 years and kept hearing locally about how wonderful this movie was and how it really puts Sacramento on the map. Holy crap, that was the most unflattering image. Shaking my head.

The guys aren’t actors and the writing was weak...it mostly felt awkward and stiff to me.

I saw GET OUT last night. It is a bit of a thriller. Very good! It’s billed as a horror film, which I hate, but I really want to see all of the nominated films. Was it super scary? Thanks

Thanks It don't like horror movies but I wouldn't label this as a horror movie - it was a creepy movie (although the last 5 minutes was a bit of a blood bath but it even wasn't ALL that bad - the rest of the movie didn't have horror elements at all - it was pretty good. Last night I saw "The Shape of Water" - by its description, this is not a movie I would have normally gone to see but I always watch all the Oscar best picture nominations and this was one of them so I went to see it. I must say, I really liked it - a lot! I am so glad I saw it. The plot sounds very bizarre - a mute woman and a sea creature fall in love in 1962 but don't let the description fool you. It had suspense and friendship and love and a great soundtrack. I was surprised by how much I enjoyed this movie.

We saw Gane Night last night too. A super fun movie with several laugh out loud moments. Love Jason Bateman. We just watched this also. Dh and I enjoyed it. We both said it was better than we thought it would be. Good movie to to go to if you are looking for something funny. We have loved Jason Bateman ever since Arrested Development. We're watching the Darkest Hour tonight. Looking forward to it. I can't wait until 3 Billboards is available on Redbox.

We went to see Game Night this afternoon. So much fun! Our two favorite scenes were When Rachel McAdams was taking the bullet out of Jason Bateman's arm and when Jason got blood all over the Westie. Of course the adorable Westie reminded us of our sweet boy, Kellie.

It was more of a creepy what's going on feeling then bad guy chasing people with chainsaws. Definitely worth watching and one of my favorites in line for the Oscar.
