We just got back from seeing the movie Adrift: The true story of Tami Oldham and Richard Sharp who couldn't anticipate that they would be sailing directly into one of the most catastrophic hurricanes in recorded history. In the aftermath of the storm, Tami awakens to find Richard badly injured and their boat in ruins. With no hope of rescue, Tami must now find the strength and determination to save herself and the only man she has ever loved.
This movie brought back memories of when my DH had to be air-lifted off a sailboat by the Coast Guard. The movie was flashbacks with scenes before, during and after the hurricane.

How was the movie Cadoodlebug? I'm really looking forward to seeing this because I love all sailing survival stories ever since I read "Survive The Savage Sea" by Dougal Robertson. I read every good book like that that I find. One of my favorites is "Adrift: 76 Days Lost at Sea" by Steven Callahan. I saw the trailer for this movie and I'm hoping it's mostly about the survival portion and doesn't focus entirely on the love story portion like the trailer shows. My hope is that they are using that in the trailer to bring in the teen audience.
I'm so sorry your DH had to be air-lifted off a sailboat by the Coast Guard and hope he made a full recovery. I also hope seeing this movie wasn't too traumatic for you.

DH and I just watched Game Night on Amazon Prime and it was hysterical! We both really enjoyed it. "You should have married Uma Thurman then"...lol! We didn't make it pass the start of the game night at the brother's house

Did you ever see Dead Calm? No way would I ever sail in open water ~ especially in places where there are known pirates.

Question for those of you that have MoviePass - did you get notice that you now have to take a photo of your ticket stub and if you miss doing that more than once, you MoviePass will be canceled and you won't be able to ever sign up with MoviePass again? Today was the first time I went after getting that email and right after I bought my ticket, it prompted me to post a photo - I had to try 8 times before it would accept the photo. The email said it is a new safeguard they are beta testing and tracks users behavior and makes sure they are complying with Terms of Use. I feel like it is just a way to weed out or get rid of some users. Especially if they have problems submitting photos like I did. Guess we will see. My husband has had to do this with his account but I haven’t.

Did you ever see Dead Calm? No way would I ever sail in open water ~ especially in places where there are known pirates. Yes years ago. Love that movie too. I've been dreaming about sailing around the world (skipping the parts where the pirates are) since I was 18 and read the book "Dove" by Robin Lee Graham a true story about a teenage boy that sails around the world in the early 1970's on a small wood sailboat with none of the electrical gear that we have today. I didn't get a chance to try sailing until my father built his first sailboat in the backyard and we tried it out in North Carolina in the Sound when I was 29-fell in love with sailing immediately. That vacation we also launched his boat (it was only 14 feet) in the ocean and had an amazing sunset sail-dolphins appeared near us-it was incredible. When I was 34 after a divorce I moved to Annapolis, MD for a new start and because of the sailing. Also being a wedding photographer it was a great city for that. I sail in the Chesapeake Bay every chance I get. My dream though it to sail in open water, the longer the journey the better. My parents moved here shortly after I did and my father has since bought a racing sailboat although we just sail it for fun. I myself have a very small Sunfish that I like sailing alone. I've had a larger sailboat but the smaller ones are more fun I think for scooting around the Bay. DH isn't really into sailing as much as my father is. So that is the long answer to your short question. Yes, I'd love to be able one day to sail in open water. That is my dream. To take off and sail not technically around the world but wherever it looks interesting, stopping where I want to-to photograph islands, snorkel the ocean there, see the culture and so on. I'd love to sail first to Fiji and the South Pacific. Luckily there are a multitude of sailing schools around here where I can get my offshore sailing classification done. That's why I read so many sailing disaster books. Learn from other's misfortunes. I learned a lot from Steven Callahan. Like how to make a solar still to make fresh water from salt water. How to have a go bag ready in case a crisis hits and you have to leave your boat in a big hurry and jump in the life raft. Knowledge is power I've always said.

We used to play every day in the woods behind our house when I was a little girl of 8-9 (1968) and there was a pond full of water moccasins. I am very daring but I wouldn't put a toe into that water and I adore swimming. The boys used to catch them, kill them and hang them in the trees-Ugh! You too have an adventurous spirit if you were willing to swim in rivers with water moccasins in them!

disneypal - My husband and I have had Moviepass since Dec 5. My son has had it since Nov 11. I was the first beta-tester of the three of us with taking photos since Feb 10, then our son Mar 15, and finally my husband starting May 10. Every few weeks there are new restrictions and rumors about Moviepass. Since we only paid $89 for a full year we are still doing well with it. There is a customer service number on the website that we called before two or three movies to help "load" the fee for the movie, but I don't know if they answer individual calls anymore. Good luck

It's so funny ~ when they start a trailer for a movie that looks good I tell DH *DON'T WATCH ~ THEY"RE SHOWING TOO MUCH!!* I always feel like we've seen half the movie! What I also hate is when they cut scenes from a movie that was in the trailer. The entire movie, I'm waiting for THAT scene and then the movie ends and I never get to see it.

We just got back from the movie Upgrade: Set in the near-future, technology controls nearly all aspects of life. But when Grey, a self-identified technophobe, has his world turned upside down, his only hope for revenge is an experimental computer chip implant called Stem.
I thought it was entertaining, although violent, but DH thought it was dumb. Rarely do we disagree on movies but this is one of them. It was basically the only thing we hadn't seen so we picked it.

We saw Oceans 8 - it was good but with such a great cast, I think I was expecting more.
One thing I thought was off in the story was ... when they took the necklace off Ann Hathaway's character when she was sick and in the bathroom, she seemed to not have noticed they took it off.
So...why didn't they just slip the fake one on her at that time too? Instead of hiding it in the fountain, breaking up the necklace into different jewelry parts in all that.

We saw Ocean’s 8 and Hereditary this weekend. I was expecting Ocean’s to be terrible but I enjoyed it. I do wish they would’ve done a couple things differently though.
Hereditary... oh my. What a weird movie! I’m still scratching my head to understand it. As my DH and I tried to talk it through, I became more confused lol.

I saw Breaking In today at a matinee. I enjoyed getting out of the heat and eating popcorn. Lol.
I thought it was decent and liked what a strong woman Shuan (Gabrielle Union) portrayed.

Such a fabulous female cast and especially in this climate I was really hoping they would knock it out of the park. I thought the acting was great, but the script wasn't as strong as the first Ocean's movie. Still glad my money went to support a female driven heist movie on its first week-end, and there were tons of groups of women in the theaters so the atmosphere was fantastic!

Part of me wants to see Hereditary (I really like Toni Collette) but I think it might be too scary for me. The previews were pretty freaky. Just how scary is it? For comparison, I really enjoyed A Quiet Place (more suspenseful than scary/gory), but there is no way I would ever ever ever watch something like Saw or Hostel. Would Hereditary have me curled up whimpering in a corner?

Part of my hesitation is that I almost always go by myself with MoviePass and I'm afraid I would get spooked and accidentally grab onto some rando sitting next to me! (This is not really an unfounded fear, I'm afraid. I've latched onto complete strangers during extreme turbulence on an airplane, and once during a very close lightning strike I grabbed at some poor woman who I think was more scared of me than of the lighning.)

That is great! Okay, that settles it. We'll go together and I'll bring my BFF along for the ride. Y'all can grab on to each other. We were downtown Austin on New Years Eve 1999, it was packed. We were watching Lyle Lovitt, BFF is a huge fan. Suddenly she's yelping and apologizing to the man in front of her. She had been leaning close to him, rubbing on his shoulder, forgetting her husband was off on a beer run...and that the stranger in front of her wasn't him. He was a good sport about it, obviously didn't mind as he hadn't said anything. So y'all can sit together and grab hold of each other instead of complete strangers. She gives strangers hugs, she won't mind

The nearly empty movie theatre should had been a huge hint that the movie was not good.
Altho the freckled young woman was awesome.

Just got back from Ocean's 8. We both enjoyed it but agreed we liked Ocean's Eleven better more. I loved it! Ocean’s 11 was the best, 12 was awful, but 13 was much better. I would put 8 between 11 and 13. It was a fun cast. The only thing I wish is that Danny Ocean, and/or Julia Roberts had made an appearance.

We saw Ocean’s 8 yesterday. Like others have mentioned, we really enjoyed it and loved the cast, but didn’t think it was as good as Ocean’s 11.
