We saw Science Fair. Loved it! It is something the whole family can see. It is in limited theaters, so catch it or put it on your Netflix queue.

So I finally saw Insidious last night while I was home alone in the dark. It came out in 2010 and was directed by James Wan (I didn’t know this before I started the movie). He also directed The Conjuring which is the scariest movie ever.
Holy crap! This movie scared the heck out of me! I seriously had to turn on Curious George the movie as soon as it ended. I can’t believe I avoided watching it for this long. I thought it was about a demon child a la The Omen, but it definitely is NOT. If you like scary movies this one is great!

I watched Bad Times at the El Royale. Good ensemble cast. Jeff Bridges was good as always. Did you like the story line? This movie looks so interesting to me. But I’m worried it will be a giant cluster f like Inherent Vice is.

It had a lot of twists and people weren't who you first thought they were.

It is a documentary that follows students from the US, Brazil, and Germany as they participate to qualify for the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair and try to win Best in Fair.

We just got back from seeing First Man with Ryan Gosling. We loved it! Some critics think it moves too slowly. It is more of a biography of Neil Armstrong and the space program than it is the moon landing. Since I adore Gosling ~ old lady crush ~ that made it even better. I know it's my imagination but there was music that sounded in the first few bars a tad like a song in La La Land.

We saw Hunter Killer, the submarine movie. As a Navy brat and daughter of a man who served 27 years of his 30 on subs, I loved it! And Gerard Butler plays the commander of the sub.

I LOVE the Insidious series! Well at least the first two. The 3rd is kind meh. But the 4th was better. Also love The Conjuring and Annabelle series. The dad in Insidious is Ed Warren in The Conjuring series.

We saw Bohemian Rhapsody - it was soooo good! We actually thought of turning around and going back in to watch it again (we didn't but we did discuss it). We said we will go see it again but next time we will see it in IMAX - totally worth IMAX due to the concert scenes. ETA: Do you remember the thread not too long ago about "Do you clap at movies" - well everyone clapped at the end of this movie

I saw this Friday night, loooooved it. Great action/Navy flick. Some of the scenes were so tense, I didn't realize I was holding my breath once or twice. The only thing that would have made it better was if Gerard could have used his native Scottish accent.

We saw this a few weeks ago, It was interesting but I did think it moved too slow and was a little too long. I liked that they showed the non-glamorous side of the space program and how it effects the families.

We just got back from seeing Bohemian Rhapsody. We thought it was amazing despite a lot of critics bashing it. It's worth going for the music alone. And if you're a fan of Rami Malek, he is wonderful as Freddie Mercury. Two enthusiastic thumbs up!

I think you're right, the concert scenes would be great in IMAX and would be worth seeing a second time. Didn't you want to start stomping your feet and clapping your hands when they did We Will Rock You?

The part of Mikael Blomkvist is a minor one compared to the first movie and I missed Daniel Craig. In the books I always got the sense that he was a lot older than Lisbeth. The first movie is still our favorite. Claire Foy is an amazing actress!

Despite the 15% on Rotten Tomatoes, DH, DS and I went to see Robin Hood. We D it! It was a new take on the story and we all were taken in and immersed in the fun. Great cast including Jamie Foxx at Petit Jean (or Little John), Jamie Dornan (50 Shades of Grey) as Will, Ben Mendelsohn (Danny on Bloodline) as the Sheriff of Nottingham and F. Murray Abraham (Homeland's Dar Adal) as the Cardinal.

Just got home from seeing Widows starring Viola Davis, Liam Neeson, Colin Farrell and Robert Duvall. Also starring Olivia the Westie. The movie is about a police shootout that leaves four thieves dead during an explosive armed robbery attempt in Chicago. Their widows have nothing in common except a debt left behind by their spouses' criminal activities. Entertaining on a rainy afternoon. This is a Westie in case you didn't know. Our sweet boy Kellie who went to the Rainbow Bridge in 2012. I believe Olivia was also the Westie in Jason Bateman's movie Game Night.

I saw Widows on Thanksgiving and loved it. I love Viola Davis, and she does an amazing job. Loved the twists and turns and how different each of the widows were.
I tried to read the book, though, and thought the writing was stilted.

We saw Fantastic Beasts and Creed 2 this weekend.
I agree with the criticisms of Fantastic Beasts but I still loved it! I liked the new characters and it was stunning visually.
Creed 2 was pretty much a combination of Rocky 3 and Rocky 4 but I still really enjoyed it...granted I’m a huge fan of the whole franchise.

I've seen way more violent movies but there was some violence. Our audience was made up of the 55 and older crowd and no one left early.

Went to see The Green Book today. Excellent movie ~ both funny and heartbreaking. In case you haven't heard of the movie, here is the synopsis: In 1962, Tony "Tony Lip" Vallelonga, a tough bouncer, is looking for work with his nightclub is closed for renovations. The most promising offer turns out to be the driver for the African-American classical pianist Don Shirley for a concert tour into the Deep South states. Although hardly enthused at working for a black man, Tony accepts the job and they begin their trek armed with The Negro Motorist Green Book, a travel guide for safe travel through America's racial segregation. Together, the snobbishly erudite pianist and the crudely practical bouncer can barely get along with their clashing attitudes to life and ideals. However, as the disparate pair witness and endure America's appalling injustices on the road, they find a newfound respect for each other's talents and heart to face them together. In doing so, they would nurture a friendship and understanding that would change both their lives.
The movie is based on the true story of the pair and, by all accounts, pretty much sticks to the facts.

We saw Bumblebee today! It was great! We took our kids, and they had a blast, even the 2 year old (she loooooves “bot bots” and stayed in her seat munching popcorn the whole time). I really loved that they made the main character a girl who saves Bumblebee. And I esp loved that a bit came along and was like, “heeey”, and she basically says “nope, I’m too busy doing important stuff and being a badass to date you”. Very pro-female movie, and I’m so happy that my daughters could see that it’s ok to be a girl and be able to fix cars and other machinery and be kind of geeky. And that you don’t need a guy to save you or fix things for you.
And the soundtrack is kick ass. 😉. I would see this again in a heartbeat.
