We saw Bumblebee today! It was great! We took our kids, and they had a blast, even the 2 year old (she loooooves “bot bots” and stayed in her seat munching popcorn the whole time). I really loved that they made the main character a girl who saves Bumblebee. And I esp loved that a bit came along and was like, “heeey”, and she basically says “nope, I’m too busy doing important stuff and being a badass to date you”. Very pro-female movie, and I’m so happy that my daughters could see that it’s ok to be a girl and be able to fix cars and other machinery and be kind of geeky. And that you don’t need a guy to save you or fix things for you. And the soundtrack is kick ass. 😉. I would see this again in a heartbeat. I bought my great grandson transformers for Christmas and gave my ds movie tickets to take him to see Bumblebee. Glad to hear you liked it!

I actually walked out of Mary Poppins Returns when it was half over the other night. But not because the movie was bad, per se.
1. It was Christmas night, a late showing at 10:20. I was just tired. 2. I was getting a bit bored. 3. I had stayed for half of it, so (mostly) got my money's worth. 4. Did I mention I was tired?
Basically, I couldn't muster up the energy to stay for another hour. Lol.

I read an article a few days ago about how bad that one was and how many people have walked out of it. That's too bad, Will Ferrell can be really funny or just plain stupid.

I've seen Mary Poppins, Aquaman, and Bumble Bee in the last week. Mary Poppins was great and very much in the spirit of the first. It's a musical, it's supposed to have a certain level of cheesy over the top frivolity. Aquaman was freaking awesome! Action, laughs, shark riding, dinosaurs, ancent beings, Jason Momoa shirtless! Thinking I'm going to go see it again this weekend. I liked Bumble Bee more than I thought it would. Since it wasa prequel and set in the mid 80s, the soundtrack was like reliving my childhood. Good story, and it did not super complicate the story like the last two Transformers movies did when they jumped the shark.

Holmes and Watson - by far the worst movie I have seen in many years. How can something this bad even be written let alone released!!

I saw The Mule last week. It was ok. It was long and dragged out. Other than Clint Eastwood, I didn't realize who else was in it: Dianne Wiest, Bradley Cooper, Laurence Fishbourne, Michael Pena. When I saw all of them, I expected much more but it didn't really deliver for me.
Bumble Bee and Mary Poppins are on my list.

Holmes and Watson - by far the worst movie I have seen in many years. I have had 2 or 3 people tell me that. I saw Second Act with Jennifer Lopez...it was pretty good and the story took a turn that I didn't expect from the trailers I had seen. Very enjoyable.

This one is old, but I just watched Hereditary on Amazon Prime. It has Toni Collette and Gabriel Byrne in it. It is super creepy, and riveting and disturbing. And then it took a really weird turn. I did not love the ending. I loved everything until the last 15 mins. I will say I enjoyed it more when I thought it was a horror movie take on the status of mental health issues in this country than the direction it wound up in. The acting was superb.

We saw "The Upside" and it was very good. It is based on a true story. I wish they would have shown a photo of the actual people during the credits but they never did (I googled after I got home). It was a remake of "The Intouchables", which came out in 2011.

I watched Acrimony tonight. I thought it was extremely well done and had a good plot line. Taraji P Henson (sp?) was phenomenal. Couldn’t take my eyes off of her for her performance as a woman scorned (in her mind). I really liked it. There is a big plot hole on how she got onto the boat, and the climax left a little to be desired. But really it’s another good movie out of Tyler Perry.
edit: and also, I would just like to say this about Hereditary (I posted above about it). In the morning, when it is dark inside of my house, I keep thinking that there is some ungodly creature person glued to the ceiling waiting to jump down and start chasing me through my house. I cannot get this movie out of my head. If you love horror and being scared, see this movie.

Saw On The Basis of Sex on Friday. I thought it was a little disjointed but that just could have been related to the fact that Bohemian Rhapsody was blaring in the theater next door. I found it really distracting to be hearing “We will we will rock you!” while RBG argued her landmark case in federal court.

I also saw A Dog's Way Home, which was super sweet.

I saw Glass tonight. Great flick and rounded out the trilogy nicely. The way he connected them from the 1st movie 19 years ago was pretty clever. I’m a big M N Shyamalan fan. And this was one of his best. James McAvoy was amazing as The Horde. The way he changed from one alter to another was incredible. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

And while we found it interesting and enjoyed it, I was a bit underwhelmed and couldn’t figure out why. I finally decided it was because in my mind RBG is such a badass woman for all she has accomplished, this quiet movie didn’t fit that perception. I feel she deserves a blockbuster. Does that make sense? And thinking about it, disjointed fits. The switching from one period in her life to the next didn’t flow well.

We saw The Favourite this week. I had several people tell me it was bad so we went in with low expectations. We like the cast and the costumes were awesome. It was debauchery at its finest and was very quirky and over-the-top. I'd give it 3/5 stars.

I liked The Favourite just because of its quirkiness, but I also loved the "love" triangle and the power plays between the three stars.

Watched Eighth Grade (on my cable company's pay per view) and it was the most touching, funny, agonizing and sometimes heartbreaking film I've ever seen about coming of age and the adolescent experience. The young star Elsie Fisher is amazing. Highly recommend it.

I saw The Mule with Clint Eastwood. It's based on a true story of a 90-yr.-old drug runner! Seriously?! That's so nuts. I liked the movie a lot. Lisa

My dd dragged me to see Escape Room the other night, under great protest from me because I hate horror movies. But this was not at all scary, more of a thriller than horror. Better than I expected. A little weird but not bad.

Finally got to see Mary Poppins Returns. I liked it and thought it had a lot of the same qualities as the first Mary Poppins. Also, I loved the cameos from some of the original Mary Poppins cast, especially the girl (Karen Dotrice) that played the original Jane.

We saw Free Solo in the IMAX theater last weekend... a National Geography documentary about Alex Hannold, the first climber to free solo climb El Capitan in Yellowstone Yosemite in 2017. (he's the first and only so far to do it.) The movie was really good-- the scenery was beautiful and it was pretty intense towards the end-- I was holding my breath a LOT during the last 30 minutes or so, lol.

poop! I knew that... just didn't write the correct park-that-started-with-a-"Y"
thanks!
ETA: It was interesting because they talked a lot with him about his childhood, how he got into climbing, and his mindset around how important climbing is to him. They also showed a bit of how the camera crew set up and worked with him... I would have liked to know more about that-- it was just insane to think about the camera guys being up on the mountain filming him, too, and the logistics they had to work around.
I think it might be showing on Nat Geo on television sometime in March, too, but IMO, the views were definitely worth the IMAX ticket price.

I watched Velvet Buzzsaw last night, I enjoyed it, it's weird, a bit silly and definitely works better as a satire of the art world than a horror film.

Can't remember the last time I posted on here so hope I'm not doing a re-post of something I've already saw and posted about.
We've been to a few movies over the past few months.
A Star is Born OMG it was so good. The music was fantastic but what blew me away was the over the top chemistry they had together. I just want them to be together in real life LOL.
I also really loved the secondary characters Sam Elliot and Andrew Dice Clay were awesome.
Continuing on my Bradley Cooper high we saw The Mule. I enjoyed it I wish it was longer it seemed so short. Sad to see Clint so old looking. He's made so many great movies over the years.
Went and saw Cold Pursuit with Liam Neeson yesterday really enjoyed it!
It had a bit of quirky humor, action and gore and LN and his sexy accent!
It reminded me a teeny bit of the movie Fargo with the miserable weather and quirky parts.

Just got home from seeing Cold Pursuit. The theater was packed! The previews don't show how much this drama has comedic moments. I mean, the audience laughed out loud many times. We enjoyed the movie. Definitely a lot of blood and guts.
