I really enjoyed Bohemian Rhapsody. The music was great and the story was compelling. So worth seeing in the theater.

Just got home from seeing Cold Pursuit. The theater was packed! The previews don't show how much this drama has comedic moments. I mean, the audience laughed out loud many times. We enjoyed the movie. Definitely a lot of blood and guts. Yes definitely didn't show that in the trailer. I'm glad you enjoyed it too! It was kind of a quirky type of humor.

I really enjoyed Bohemian Rhapsody. The music was great and the story was compelling. So worth seeing in the theater. I heard such mixed reviews on it at first so I didn't bother regretting it now. I love Queen but after seeing A star is born I was a bit bummed that BR was getting more recognition at award ceremonies as I had just been blown away by the music and performances from not only LG and BC but the secondary characters. I heard RM is awesome as FM but he didn't sing without aides and mixing and dubbing in the movie. Hopefully I can catch it at a cheap theatre but I think it's coming out on DVD this month.

I've seen a few movies since my last post: Cold Pursuit - I thought it was a fun thriller/action/dark comedy. The comedy was unexpected but well timed. The Green Book - excellent! Aquaman - super fun! It had more of a story than I expected. Lots of action and hair flips. Bohemian Rhapsody - I heard mediocre reviews so my expectations were low but I really enjoyed it. I don't know if every aspect is true but it was pretty interesting.

Have seen a few movies lately
took grandson (11 years) to see How to Tame a Dianosaur he thoroughly enjoyed it. Took other grandson (9 years) to see Bumblebee which he thought was fantastic.
Went with DH to see Cold Pursuit which we both thought was really good.
Saw Bohemian Raphosody which I had mixed opinions about but the music made it worth watching. Did enjoy the movie but thought some of it a bit so-so.
Will go with DH next week to see The Mule so am looking forward to that.

I took my son and his 4 buddies to see The Lego Movie 2 for his birthday party last Saturday. That movie is adorable and fantastic! It is a wonderful story about the relationship between siblings as well as take on how kids interact with their toys as they grow up. My other 3 kids didn't get to go see it, as two of them had hockey games. I would take them to see it again in a heartbeat!

We saw On the Basis of Sex recently, it was magnificent! Cool cameo by RBG herself, blew me away. I had no idea this woman did so much for gender equality. Last weekend we saw Glass, which was better than I expected. Apparently it's the third installment of a trilogy that began in 2000. Bruce Willis was so good I could hardly believe it, flol. So like anyway, I guess I recommend both movies.

Roma .... Up for TEN Academy Awards
Perhaps DH and I aren't "artsy" enough, or not GETTING something, but aside from the lovely cinematography.....why? just.....whyyyyy? DH and I were SHOCKED to read this: Oscar nominations 2019: the full list of nominees. Netflix worked hard for this nomination, spending a reported $25 million on its awards season campaign. (Roma itself cost just $15 million to make.)
After DH and I read this, we just have NO. WORDS. ten MILLION more for the award campaign than the actual movie cost to make !??!??!!!
Fair Game....(Netlix streaming) So exciting! True story of a CIA operative.
Old Man With A Gun.....Very entertaing! True story of a 70-year-old bank robber. I read that Robert Redford is saying it'll be his last movie.
Bohemian Rhapsody......Fiiiinally watched it....we both loved it! First Man ....So interesting and sweet. Ryan Gossling and Claire Foy were so good (plus.... kudos to her for her American accent!)

I finally got to watch Kodachrome tonight!!! I have been dying to see it and stumbled upon it on Netflix. It is exactly what I hoped it would be. A lovely story that entertained photography and a complicated father/son relationship. Ed Harris and Jason Sudeikis were stellar. This movie will yank hard on those heartstrings, so if you watch it you need to have some tissues handy. I seriously loved it.
Hubs turned on Sicario 2 last night. That movie was terrifying. Great storyline, good acting. Scary sense of reality. I liked 2 more than I liked the 1st one. A little bit less complex of a storyline. I’m curious to see how this plays out in Sicario 3, assuming they make one.
The kids rented The Grinch this evening. Adorable animation, fabulous Christmas song soundtrack, but it didn’t wow me or make me have all the feels like I thought it would. I’m glad we held off on buying this one.

Omg so boring! Beyond boring. Down right dull. I went to bed.
Little foot: cute
Disney nutcracker: Mediocre. The credits are worth watching.

We loved First Man but we were in college when we went to the moon so I found the backstory fascinating. And I adore Ryan Gosling. Sorry you were bored.

Kudos to Spike Lee and the excellent actors !!! We watched this, and....wow! The HATRED from the KKK (and hearing the "N word" and other ethnic slurs for Jews ( "k---e" ), etc. was reallly hard to hear. If you don't want to read the long description I added below, it's the true story of a black police officer who infiltrates the KKK. We didn't realize the lead actor is Denzel Washington's son until we saw the credits.....wow, he got his Dad's talent ! Also, I realllllyyy like Adam Driver! We saw him in another very good movie, but I can't think of the title now. (Not talking about "Star Wars"--- I don't watch those-- but DH does, and he said Adam Driver was great in that, too). --------------------------------------------------------- (I got this from economist. com) SPIKE LEE’S “BlacKkKlansman” is set in the 1970s, but it is also the first major Hollywood film to comment explicitly on Donald Trump’s presidency. In an opening segment, Alec Baldwin—a regular Trump impersonator on “Saturday Night Live”—cameos as a pompous white supremacist. Later, a young David Duke (Topher Grace), the former Grand Wizard of the Ku Klux Klan, explains that the Klan will make headway not by wearing hoods and burning crosses, but by wearing suits and seeming respectable—and by “getting the embodiment of that in the White House”. And the film finishes with clips of the far-right rally in Charlottesville, Virginia, and Mr Trump’s defence of the “very fine people” in attendance. Whatever audiences think of “BlacKkKlansman”, no one could accuse it of being too subtle. The film, declares an opening caption, “is based on some fo’ real fo’ real shit”, which is another way of saying that Mr Lee and his three co-writers adapted it from a memoir by Ron Stallworth, a black police detective who infiltrated the Klan. Mr Stallworth himself is played with swaggering self-assurance and a sizeable Afro by John David Washington, whose father, Denzel Washington*** , starred in Mr Lee’s “Malcolm X” biopic. The first African-American policeman in Colorado Springs, Stallworth is desperate to get out of the records department and into action, so when he spots a Klan recruiting ad in the local newspaper, he decides on a whim to dial the number at the bottom. He is soon friendly enough with the town’s Klansmen to be invited to meet them. Stallworth keeps the ruse going by persuading his sardonic Jewish partner, Flip Zimmerman (Adam Driver), to take his place for face-to-face dealings with “the organisaton”.

Boy Erased ....So good, sooo sad !!! True story of a gay teenager sent to "conversion camp". (P.S...I also LOVED hearing the many Australian stars in the cast (Russell Crowe, Nicole Kidman, and ESPECIALLY Joel Edgerton!!!***) speaking with Arkansas accents !!!! ** Dh and I were AMAZED to learn Joel Edgerton not only wrote, directed, produced, but he ALSO brilliantly played the Head "Pastor?" of the conversion camp !!!!!!!!! We had NO idea he was Australian; his Arkansas accent was perfect !!!!! He NEEDS to get an Oscar for acting, directing, writing, etc!!! VERY fun note for anyone who's a fan of the band "Red Hot Chili Peppers"......one of the most HORRIBLE "leaders" at the conversion camp is played by FLEA----(the brilliant base guitar player of RHCP !) I did NOT recognize him !!! WOW !!!!

Another “ Boy Erased” note——With alllll my marveling over 3 of the main Australian stars imitating Arkansas accents very well, there was also a verrrrry sweet-faced, curly blonde haired boy who befriended the main character at the camp. When we watched the extras and found out he was ALSO Australian, we were amazed yet again ! Joel Edgerton, Russell Crowe, Nicole Kidman, and this other actor’s accents were so authentic- sounding, I’m curious how much work it was for them, whether they required dialect coaches, etc. I’ve always loved accents, so this subject is very interesting to me!

“Paddleton “ (Netflix)
SWEET story of a guy diagnosed with cancer who asks his best friend (Ray Romano) to help him end his life. DH & I enjoyed this A LOT, and.... BIG kudos to Ray Ramono’s dramatic acting skills! The other actor ( can’t remember his name) was also great! Their close friendship was soooo heartwarming !!!!
I LOVE it when comedians surprise us with serious roles! Two of my fave examples are how great Robin Williams was in “ Dead Poet’s Society”, and Adam Sandler in “ Reign On Me.”

We saw Free Solo today. It was amazing! If you have the chance to see it in the theaters, do it! We walked out exhausted! We also enjoyed recognizing all the places we've been in the valley and loved when he was climbing next to Yosemite Falls. When I was younger and DS was about 7, we climbed to the top of upper Yosemite Falls. Took us 8 hours. Glad we did it but I would never want to do it again. Brutal hike!

I saw Sophie and the Rising Sun on Netflix today. It was very good. I didn't even pick up my iPad while I was watching it. Margo Martindale is it and I love her.
In 1941, the residents of a small South Carolina town view the arrival of an educated Japanese-American man with more than a little suspicion. When he catches the eye of one of their own -- winsome spinster Sophie Willis -- racial tensions mount.

saw Lego Movie 2.. it was well done and glad we all went . lived up to the first movie. also saw They Shall not grow Old. I am raving about this movie. it is a documentary made by peter jackson . he colorized and digitized historic ww 1 film and combined it with narration by men who had fought in the war. sort of a slice of life of a typical british soldier. very graphic, but such a well done piece. it is followed by a 30 min. documentary of Jackson on how he made the movie.. both technical and personal choices. it is mud and blood and laughter and the reality of war. r rated.

I saw Captain Marvel last night. It was fucking amazing! And seriously awesome how it tied some other parts of the Marvel Universe together! Since it takes place in the 90s it showed some other beginnings as well. And the Stan Lee cameo was brilliant, I see why Kevin Smith got so teary eyed over it. Oh and the soundtrack was like straight out of my high school years. Loved it! Awesome female lead!

We saw US tonight - so, I did really like Get Out, Jordan Peeles first movie, but wasn't a huge fan of this one...won't say any more but what was super annoying was that a few people took small children in to this R rated 'horror' movie!

DH and I saw it today. I thought it was dumb. I also recently saw Five Feet Apart and thought it was ok. It was predictable and your typical love story of people who both have an illness of some sort.
