So we’ve been catching up on our super hero (and villain?) movies.
We rented Aquaman for the kids last night. I was surprised at how much I liked it!
A couple weeks ago we rented Spider-Man: Into the Spiderverse. This was really good! So fascinating to see all the different spider men. My favorite was Spider Ham. 😁
Hubs and I caught Venom tonight. I really liked it. I seem to recall there being some hate for this one. I liked the story line and Tom Hardy’s performance was good. Michelle Williams was a little bit dull, which was surprising to me. I like dark humor and this fit the bill. Loved the end and the glimpse in the credits.

Did not like Us at all! I can’t figure out all the accolades!! I really enjoyed Get Out, there was nothing about this movie I liked.

Planning to watch Highwaymen tonight on Netflix. Anyone seen it yet? Layce ETA: Okay, it was good! Kevin Costner and Woody Harrelson portray a pair of crusty old federal-type marshalls retired Texas ranger-types called back into service to take down the infamous Bonnie and Clyde. We did not know this was based on a true story! Here's a link if you're interested, Highwaymen Review

Just got home from seeing the true story of the terrorist seige of Mumbai in the movie Hotel Mumbai. It is riveting and heartbreaking.
On a lighter note, we saw previews for the movie Yesterday where no one has ever heard of the Beatles or their songs until a guy start writing/singing them. Looks like a fun movie.

I watched a couple of older released movies last night. (Hubs and oldest daughter were at the Blackhawks game last night so I was here alone with sleeping Little’s and my own devices). 😁
I tried to watch Mamma Mia Here We Go Again! It was so awful I turned it off after 30 minutes. Maybe I’ll try it again some other night but man I really did not like those 20 minutes, or the massive amounts of flashbacks about Donna.
I turned on a different movie called Snapshots. 3 generations of women get together for a weekend and discuss their love lives, the contents of an old camera, and homosexuality within the context of a straight marriage. The acting could have been a lot better (Piper Laurie was great though!), but the storyline was fascinating! And the flashbacks of the younger grandma and her friend were riveting. I liked this movie a lot.
Then, since I was still alone at home, I watched Fifty Shades Freed. It was completely ridiculous with a mostly stupid plot. I liked the end. I don’t recommend this movie. 🤪

I saw Us and HATED it. So many questions! I've been watching reviews, easter eggs and discussions about the movie and like it a little more. So I guess I've moved from a strong Hate to "didn't like."

I finally got to see Bad Moms Christmas last night. It was very funny, but not as funny as the 1st one. My favorite part involved a fight with Christine Baranski screaming “no! These are from the Titanic! No! That is ice from the moon!” I am still laughing about that scene today.
I also watched Book Club with Diane Keaton, and a whole lot of other very well known actors and actresses the other night. I was surprised at how much I enjoyed that movie. It was funny and it was sweet. Favorite parts were probably the dance scene and the kiss scene at the end because of the story. Laughed my butt off at the cop pull over scene!
Oh! And I watched Winchester yesterday. It was TERRIBLE. such a disappointment.

We are huge into the super hero movies...... this didn’t really grab our attention enough to head to the movie theaters, but we will rent it!.

We saw Shazam last week, it was the first DC movie I liked! I don’t count Christian Bale Batman as DC. We thought it was funny, happy, silly and had a good story. The kid actors were all pretty good too. I really enjoyed it and am taking my nephew next week.

I really want to see that! I saw Captain Marvel today. At first I wasn't sure I was going to get into it because I felt like I was dropped into the middle of the story but after about 10 minutes or so, all fell into place and I loved it!! Great Marvel movie!

Going to see Hellboy tonight. Will come back with a review.
ETA: it was just okay. Very disjointed plot. Lots of random stuff thrown in. David Harbour was great as the new Hellboy though.

hubs and I are both sick tonight and stuck on the couch. We decided to watch a movie. It came down to Black KkKlansman or Tequila Sunrise. Neither of us had ever seen Tequila Sunrise and we figured it would be good because it has Michelle Pfiffer, Kurt Russell, and Mel Gibson among lots of other people in it. And it wasn’t political, so we went with that one.
Holy cow what an awful movie! 2 hours long and nothing really happened and it was so boring. Not even Raul Julia could save that snooze-fest!

Just got home from Disney's Earth Day movie Penguins. We loved it! It was amazing, funny, sad and the credits showed some clips of the filming of the movie. Animal instinct is an incredible thing. Two thumbs up!

I saw Shazam last week. What a fun movie. Zachary Levi is perfect in the lead role. For any Chuck fans, you'll appreciate it.
We rented The Mule and it was entertaining, but not the best movie Clint Eastwood has ever directed. Good plot and it keeps moving. Well worth the rental.

I haven't looked too far back on this thread but Dumplin' on Netflix is great! It has such a positive message and new Dolly Parton music! Great for preteen and teen girls to watch.

1. LOVED "Five Flights Up" (Netflix)
SWEET story of a couple beautifully played by Morgan Freeman and Diane Keaton, plus SWEET doggie! (BONUS: Awesome New York scenery, too!) www.youtube.com/watch?v=7z4CUp08r7o
2. "Last Resort" (Netflix)
Wonderful documentary about 2 awesome photographers who captured Miami Beach, Florida in the 50's, 60's, and 70's, when the population was mostly elderly Jewish couples. 3. " Knock Down The House" (Netflix) www.youtube.com/watch?v=_wGZc8ZjFY4Docu about some of the women who ran for Congress, (with the main focus being Alex Ocasio-Cortez). I am AMAZED at what these women have been through and what they've done !!! (There was one whose daughter died due to not being able to provide proof of insurance at a hospital.....omg !!) 4. "Last Word" (Amazon Prime)
Sweeet story---Shirley Maclaine and Amanda Seyfried (sp?) unlikely friendship. www.youtube.com/watch?v=_wGZc8ZjFY4

Looking back at the cast of Avengers, I don't think they will be able to assemble as cast like that again if Disney decides to reboot the franchise. Sure, we've seen a few incarnations of Spider-Man and we've liked them but re-cast Iron Man? Captain America? EvenThor? I am glad to have been around to see the first go around with these characters. I think they will always be my favorite.

We just got back from seeing Long Shot starring Charlize Theron and Seth Rogen. I thought the previews looked good and Rotten Tomatoes had it over 80% so I talked DH into it ~ he isn't a Rogen fan so I shouldn't have.
There were a few funny scenes but overall we found it pretty vulgar and trashy. The only real bright spot was that we have never seen Charlize Theron look more beautiful.
I'm sure many people will love the movie if they like that kind of humor.
