We rented two movies yesterday.
Hello My Name is Doris...I wanted to love it but it was just okay.
10 Cloverfield Lane...I wanted to hate it but it wasn't bad; I didn't like the end.

Took my 3.5 year old twins to see their first movie, Finding Dory. It was a great movie. Myself, my 11 yr old and the twins all agree! Great pick for the first time in a theater! 27 years ago I took my son to his first movie ~ The Little Mermaid. When we got home DH asked him how the movie was ~ all he could talk about was the popcorn!

Loved Tarzan!
I'd give Independence Day 2 a C-. Plot holes you could drive a truck through. (Or a spaceship.)

We saw the following this weekend:
Free State of Jones - this was my DH's pick. I thought I'd be bored but it kept my attention and I really enjoyed it. The Purge Election Year - I loved it! The Shallows - I enjoyed it. It was better than I thought it would be. The Conjuring 2 - we liked this one, my DH more than me. I was waiting to be scared and jumpy but it didn't happen.

I just saw Hello, My Name is Doris on dvd. I love Sally Fields and Tyne Daly and was looking forward to it. It was one if the worst movies that I have seen in a long time. I kept waiting for it to get better but it never did. It was just stupid and uncomfortable to watch. I totally agree with everything you said. It really was the WORST movie I have seen in awhile. I rented this one and actually liked it, I really liked it! That ending though. I yelled at my TV.

We just watched the remake of When a Stranger Calls about the babysitter who is terrorized while babysitting at a remote house. I did scream a few times.

Saw Tarzan yesterday and really enjoyed it. Must Christoff Weiss be the baddie in every movie? Getting a little tired of that.

Just got back from seeing Tarzan. We enjoyed it. The special effects were amazing, especially the apes and all the other animals. It was hard to watch John getting beat up by the apes. Man that looked real!

Finally saw "Finding Dory" this afternoon. I expected the children in the audience to be fairly noisy but they were just as enthralled with the movie as I was. Great movie and I too loved "Piper." I swear I could almost smell the ocean beach.

You mean Christoph Waltz? He usually does play a bad guy. I think it's the German accent...lol. he seems so sweet too. I loved him hosting SNL. And he did play a nice guy in Django Unchained. He was my very favorite in that movie.

my friend and I saw Love and Friendship in the theater. we both agreed it was best to see in the theater. we both loved it. so witty..such a bitch as the main character. very austen. the only maybe off note was that the main character hadn't thought of marrying the fool before her friend suggested it. but very well done and very funny script and beautiful costumes.
guys might even like it.

We saw Finding Dory last night finally. All 4 of us really liked it. DS1 and I really liked Destiny. And Bailey. Ty Burrell was awesome. DS2 loves Hank.
The boys have a lengthy list of movies they want to see this summer. The BFG, The Secret Life of Pets, Tarzan, Ice Age 4, Pete's Dragon, X-Men, Independence Day...

Thumbs-up for Tarzan! What a stellar cast. Great historical fiction tale with a little Tarzan and Jane to save the day. The jungle animal animation was better than I expected. DH still saying, Animation?

Saw Free State of Jones today. We enjoyed it although parts were hard to watch. I Googled the movie to see what was fact and what was fiction. Interesting story. I do have a question for those who have seen it. The modern day court case between the state of Mississippi and Newt's great-grandson ~ what year would you think that took place? It was actually 1948 and it seemed more recent in the movie. Am I wrong?

I just saw Edie the Eagle on dvd. It was so good. It's about the first Englishman to compete in the Winter Olympics ski jump. He did it through sheer determination. No one thought he could do it. Best feel good movie I've seen since Rudy. Hugh Jackman was wonderful. I liked everything about this movie in fact I'd watch it again. It will be one of those movies that I will stop and watch everytime I run across it.

We know how Hollywood loves to change the narrative to be more entertaining! The only thing that bothers me is when they say a movie is based on a true story and almost the entire thing is fabrication. The other thing is that some people will see a movie and swear every part of it is true. That's why I love to read the facts ~ especially when some of the characters who are important in the movie are fiction.

I can't believe I saw a theater movie and forgot to post! I took my kids to see The Secret Life of Pets on opening night. It was so cute! We really enjoyed it. My daughters (13 and almost 8) are currently obsessed with Sandlot. The 8 year old especially. I know its an oldie but I have to mention it here, since we watch it daily (not even lying! lol) She recites the whole thing. SaveSaveSaveSave

Just got back from seeing The Infiltrator starring Bryan Cranston (AKA Walter White from Breading Bad). This time he plays an undercover agent infiltrating a drug network of drug lord Pablo Escobar. Based on a true story ~ lots of suspense and white knuckle moments.

I took my daughter to Ghostbusters for a belated birthday. This is the review she posted on Facebook. She has high functioning Autism and zero filters! I mostly agreed with her. I saw the new Ghostbusters, and guys- I just don't get it. The attitude about the movie is so bad we were the only ones in the theater for the 3D showing- on a $5 Tuesday. ***I tried explaining to her the movie theaters are virtually empty for most matinees. I guess she did not believe me***No, it isn't the original, but it was funny. It stood out. There really was some good acting. Chris Hemsworth was like the main reason I went TBH (he looks HOT in glasses, OK?!) and I was pleased. It was funny. Lots of humor. The worst part was the redone theme song, but they had the original featured near the beginning. Yes, a lot of the cast was from SNL, but that doesn't make them any less of actors. SNL is hilarious! I liked the acting. There were some actual parts where I jumped because, ghosts. Yes, the idea of ghosts spitting slime was silly, and ghosts definitely don't look like that (I'm a believer, sue me), but it was a movie, never meant to be a SERIOUS film about the paranormal but funny, so I shrugged it off. It was JUST A MOVIE. Furthermore, it highlights women. Instead of the woman being portrayed as dumb and clueless, it was reversed, and Kevin the secretary (Chris Hemsworth.... š) was the dumb one. Not the women. Everyone is mad that Leslie Jones' character wasn't a scientist and that apparently she was a stereotypical black woman in New York, being all tough. She WAS tough- independent tough. Smart tough. She knows everything about New York. So she wasn't a scientist. She had her own skills. The acting was good, OK? Kate McKinnon was incredible. IDK why, but her eccentric behavior reminds me of Harley Quinn. Getting past this... It was a film that featured strong, smart women. One of the themes most overlooked was about bullying, and how others treat people. I won't spoil anything, but it resonates. Even when no one believed in them, the Ghostbusters kept going. It struck a chord. Everywhere, in this world, every day, someone is told they aren't good enough. They're made fun of. And this movie showed how the Ghostbusters- and even Kevin, who really began to try hard to do better at his job- kept going. They worked hard. They pushed. And in the end, they got people to believe in them. And while there was still those who doubted them, it was those who believed that made all the difference. We need to stop whining about how everything is being remade. Yes, it's annoying. But give the movie a shot. Try to look past the original movie, try not to judge, and just try to enjoy! There's a lot of humor and acting plus WONDERFUL messages to take away from this movie. I have four words: Give it a shot. As for the Jumanji reboot- Iām not going there. That is too far.

Just saw Star Trek Beyond. We're not Trekkies by any stretch but still enjoyed it. We watched the TV show back in the 60's and still laugh at the fake rocks and sets.
