Wtf!
More proof that more guns just make EVERYONE less safe.
I am so sad and angry and sick over all these incidents.
The police officers in Dallas should never have been shot. No justification. No way, no how.
And, it makes me sick that apparently having a concealed carry license and carrying if you are Black just means that some LEO feel that is all the justification they need to kill you.
I just hate what guns are doing to our society.

@scrappymom businesses can refuse to allow open carry on their premises, and most have exercised this option. You will see notices posted on the doors of businesses who don't allow open carry.
The suspect/person of interest was in a public park and on the street where it is perfectly legal.

I can't even express the rage I feel over this. These guys were just doing their jobs. They have wives, children and other loved ones. What kind of sickness says "well you killed one of ours, now let's really get even!" My heart just aches for the children whose daddies are not coming home tonight or ever again.

At least one of the wounded officers, shot twice, is a woman. They just showed her little girl on the news.

We need a Martin Luther King type figure to help this county out.
Someone who is for uniting, rather than dividing. Someone who stands up for injustice, but turns his back on violence. There are so many great King quotes that we could all do well to live by.

For the officers' children, for Alton Sterling's, and Philando Castile's family. None of those officers or those two men deserved to die. It is a very tragic time for all those families. All of them. The violence has to stop.

Ok... more on that police chase.
A man threw a camo bag into his car and sped off. He was followed by police and everything appears to have gone peacefully.

I fall apart any time there's an officer down. I'm pretty much a wreck tonight. I had the bad luck to be watching Fox when it broke out and the cameraman ran up on the officers down.
I have mad respect for Megyn Kelly demanding they cut away, that they weren't going to show bodies in the street.
But I can't unsee it.

My BFF's son was/is on shift in that area as it happened. He was finally able to text her that he was ok but it was an agonizingly long time.

The Police Chief is speaking now.
They are in "negotiations" with a "suspect" at the garage. The suspect continues to shoot at the officers, claims the end is coming and has declared that there are bombs planted in the garage and elsewhere throughout downtown.

I don't even know what to say. I'm a cop's widow. I am so sick, I can barely type. May God show mercy upon these officers and their families. May those HE's taken tonight rest in eternal peace. These poor women and their poor children. What kind of sick animal thinks this is ok to ambush and massacre men doing their job. Thank you Megyn Kelly for having the class and compassion to not show the bodies of these brave men. Oh God there are just no words, none. Prayers for all my blue family tonight. May God have mercy.

This is just me wondering out loud, since I am here alone. Fox News was just showing officers standing guard at a 7-11 that is closed. There were many people there that seemed to be taunting the officers. Why? What do they hope to gain from doing that?

They know the officers are not going to do anything to them right now, so the idiots believe they have the "power." Assholes, plain and simple.

It doesn't sound like it's over. They're still a shoot out with a 4th one. I've been flipping back and forth different stations. I went to something else for a little bit waited for the press confrence then they said they weren't comfortable saying they had them all. I just can't wrap my brain around this!

There were many people there that seemed to be taunting the officers. Why? What do they hope to gain from doing that? There is nothing to gain. What baffles me is that people are willing to spend so much energy on negative behavior, rather than doing something that will result in a positive change. Why can't communities (police and the citizens) work TOGETHER so that both sides have more understanding and can feel comfortable with each other? The way we're doing things now obviously isn't working, and it's just creating an even greater divide. We need something, or someone, that can start to bridge that gap. I'm not liberal and I'm not conservative, but I've seen virtually NO response or leadership from those that should be offering it. Change needs to start at the top before we can move forward, otherwise each city is just playing its own game and there is no unity. As the wife of a LEO, I'm beyond terrified for my husband's life--now more than ever. This culture of name calling and us vs. them needs to stop NOW. There will always be those that don't want to follow the law and no amount of talking will change that, but I do think that there is so much more that can be done. I hope this rant made some sort of sense. I'm emotional and exhausted tonight, and terrified of what tomorrow will bring.

MSNBC is reporting a fifth officer has died. I think this is the first time since 9/11 (and probably for many years before that, too) that more than four officers have been killed in a single incident.

I'm sure more news will come out on this (since most "articles" are snips of tweets and I'm not able to watch videos at 4am), but is there a chance this is not directly related to the protest? That these were some guys who were planning to do something anyway and used the protest to make a point? Who makes up a bunch of bombs in less than a day? I'm hoping this is the case; hopefully there will be more info in the morning. I can't imagine the pain of those families right now.

There are so many great King quotes that we could all do well to live by. Totally, instead I saw this calming influence... A former member of the US House of Representatives has declared “this is now war” in reaction to the death of five police officers in a shootout at a Black Lives Matter protest in Dallas. Joe Walsh wrote on Twitter: “3 Dallas Cops killed, 7 wounded. This is now war. Watch out Obama. Watch out black lives matter punks. Real America is coming after you”. Mr Walsh, who served as an Illinois congressman from 2011 to 2013, quickly deleted his tweet. from this article www.independent.co.uk/news/world/americas/dallas-police-shooting-barack-obama-joe-walsh-twitter-warning-this-is-war-real-america-a7126301.html
