Ugh. I'm not saying it's a bad idea, home stuff is a great thing. (Which is why I'm glad I'm no where near a target!) but something about Becky and her "because someone will ask" just seems so pompous.

Meh.
I'm not into buying stuff just because it has a name on it.

I live less than a mile from Target and I can get lost in the store for a minimum of an hour each time. My husband just does not understand.

I clearly am a negative nelly here lately (did I even spell that term right? I don't know, lol) but I think this idea is lame as lame can get. No way in hell am I spending $8 on wrapping paper, let alone buying it online. I've come to the point where I buy bags from Dollar Tree and holiday stuff on clearance after the fact. The only paper I buy full price is from Costco because you get like a football field worth of it and it's great quality (and even then, I only buy it VERY rarely) for a similar price as this (but probably 5x as much on a roll).
I just don't understand why with the continued sway of our economy someone thinks that venturing into HIGH END WRAPPING PAPER of all things is a smart business idea. I just don't get it. It gets THROWN OUT after it's used...it's just to hide an item...this just screams first world OTT to me. I never understood it when Hazel & Ruby did it, but it fit into their existing market of DIY and home decor.
I think the only out of the box recent idea I've actually not felt like a bitch for my opinion is the WRMK typewriter (and everyone else seems to think it's overpriced...considering you can buy antique typewriters for more than double, I actually don't think the price is awful, I just don't have $216 with tax to throw at it right now). I actually love it and want the black one (when it goes on sale, of course) baaaaadddddly. I think it's an amazing concept...I just recently got an older one and while it's okay, it definitely has it's quirks being that it's old (which means I often have to redo things because of them and me being a perfectionist) and the smell...I just can't handle the 'old' smell of it but don't have a clue how to get rid of it. This is a fresh new take on something making a comeback and it's shiny (or matte, in reality, I think) and new and the ribbons being readily available in fancy color combinations just wins my heart...I can't wait to coupon the black/teal and stock up. But wait...we were talking about wrapping paper, weren't we? Did I already say no thanks...?

The last time I was at target my fingers literally hurt wanting to buy all the cute stationary stuff but then I realized I'll never use any of it. I just wanted it to look at. So I resisted. I usually buy blank paper at the dollar tree and decorate it myself. $8 for wrapping paper is insane.

Considering how much money most of her customer base spends on scrapbooking stuff, I don't think $8 wrapping paper is out of the budget. I don't wrap a lot of gifts but I'd spend $$$ for pretty paper. I'm not just a scrapper, I'm a sucker for all paper products, to include wrapping paper and accessories, office supplies and stationery.

$7.99 for a roll of wrapping paper? No thanks.

I *guess* I could see it if she has an entire line that is cool. Matching tissue paper, ribbon, pens, etc.
But just wrapping paper? I dont get that.
FWIW, I would buy $8 wrapping paper if I could use it for a couple of gifts. And i loved the patten.

Is there really a need for this product? It looks just like any other gift wrap you can buy anywhere. What makes this special? The Becky label slapped on it??

I'm on her Facebook feed and she has multiple posts about the wrapping paper. It's the first day so I understand letting everybody know about it, but if there are constant posts about this wrapping paper I may have to take her off my Facebook. LOL

I love wrapping paper, but I don't see this as any different from the Costco stuff. And the video of her dancing around with it like she discovered the cure for heart disease is a little strange...

It isn't your regular old paper or what you can buy at the big box stores. She has been a fan of stone wrap for years and has talked about it a lot (and long before she was so widely popular and joined up with AC etc.). Seemed like a little overkill with the social media hype this past week, but I think it is neat for her to get to put her brand's designs on one of her personal favorite products. Ordering by mail would be a pain, but the price is what you would pay for their papers at the Container Store. Curious to see what else is in the pipeline since they are talking about it being a brand and not just a one off product.

I love a good wrapping paper, but these don't excite me. Also, her video on YouTube kind of made me cringe. It's just... dorky, for lack of a better description. Sorry, Becky I love to mix one roll of stand out paper with much cheaper things like $1 store bags, a huge roll of Kraft, ribbon from my stash etc. So I get the idea. Hope it works out for her!

I guess this "home brand" is what we can expect from scrapbookers now. Heidi Swapp, Elsie Larson, Maggie Holmes, Teresa Collins, the list goes on. They've all been focusing on "home" or "lifestyle" for their "brand". Their blogs and/or products are not about scrapbooking anymore. I get that they need to stay relevant and I never fault someone for trying to make a living. I think I'm just turned off by all of it. Don't like feeling like the loyal wife left behind for the younger hipper model.

Don't like feeling like the loyal wife left behind for the younger hipper model. That makes me think of how I felt when she came out with Project Life after I followed her for years at Creating Keepsakes. I bought her books (even did her time consuming lettering from her book) and then she came out with PL and it's like all the stuff she did in the CK years was forgotten. LOL I sound like a jilted wife too.

I'm trying to continue to follow her because I have enough product to do Project Life for about 20 years, not to mention the digital and app kits I have, but it's getting harder and harder to not click unfollow.
I know the point is to sell product, but I can't take the constant "here is how I do my make up" "how to hang a picture using command strips" etc. Do people really ask where everything she wears and has in her home is from? Do people not know how to hang pictures?
Honestly, if all the information posts about her life were done in a Project Life page, I'd be less annoyed.
I must be really negative tonight too because I'm sure she's a wonderful person and I'm happy she is successful. She's obviously worked hard, but it's getting harder and harder to believe she scrapbooks. I do like the wrapping paper, sucker for paper products, but am not sure I'd order.

To her hardcore fan base, rather than thinking she just marketed a concept already in existence better than anyone else did in order to make it take off, they think she hung the moon. She's the 'it girl' and some people want to be like that. I get more of a clique sense from her and the people who 'omg, love how you look in that' or 'you know how to tell it like it is' to everything that she posts. As an outcast in high school and one who never ever was part of the in crowd, it makes me want to vomit. I try and scroll through what she posts 99% of the time...that 1% of the time that I actually care has been worth it (she's how I found out about the cover on acetate that you need to peel off, lol).

Do tell about the acetate.
Just that some/most acetate comes with a plastic on top (making it foggy) designed to keep it from getting scratched during the manufacturing process...in order to make it clear, you have to peel it off before using it.

I guess I don't really see how wrapping paper = home. I was expecting a lot more from a big launch like she was building up. I found it very underwhelming.

(Do people still use expensive wrapping paper? We use gift bags exclusively now. They are reusable and are economically friendly. I abhor wrapping paper.)

With all her decor posts, I expected wall pieces. I, too, don't see the home...unless there is going to be a tutorial on how this doubles as wallpaper.
