950nancy Yes, I'm in Omaha. The Container Store took over the food court at Westroads. Some food relocated in the mall and they opened a new concept food hall that features local restaurants. I worked at that mall during high school and college. I single handedly kept many of the shoe stores open.

I love a good wrapping paper, but these don't excite me. Also, her video on YouTube kind of made me cringe. It's just... dorky, for lack of a better description. Sorry, Becky I was thinking the video couldn't be that bad . . . and then I watched it. Definitely cringing here.

I really like Becky and her products. I'll remain a fan of her products but feel like she's quickly becoming a little bit too much for me. One or two Instagram stories from the concert last night...ok I guess. Multiple?! Really it's just ridiculous and too over the top for me. And I have issues with adult women who try to act cutesy. I can't decide if she is just trying TOO hard or what. Several times lately I've been turned off by her look at me, narcissistic attitude. This......all those IG stories from the concert was a bit ridiculous. Just like all the pics from her Hawaii trip blowing up my feed every single day. Put down the phone and enjoy your life. She's worse than a teenager. It would be nice if she had a separate feed for this stuff.

That way if you want to be updated w/every single pic of their feet or coffee, you can be, but if you'd rather just see products and uses of products, you could do that. Oversharing is a turn-off for me, as I've mentioned before on the boards. And it makes me turn them off completely vs. being able to stay connected w/the hobby side of their feed but not the feet pics and stories thereof.

I agree. When I clicked out I was expecting pillows or wall decor! Me too. I was expecting bedding. I actually thought I was missing something totally obvious because I couldn't find anything other than a few rolls of wrapping paper.

I reckon there's loads more products to come... this paper probably just got back from the manufacturers first. But it just seems like such a dinky offering for all the hoopla. If you are going to jump into a new venture (like selling home goods after scrapbook goods was your main thing), you need to hit it out of the park on the first swing. Show me something I can't say no to, and then I'll keep coming back for more.

I have enjoyed Becky's scrapbooking talent since the 90's and I will continue to follow what she does. Like Tracie says she may end up being the Martha Stewart of paper crafting. But I do wonder about somebody like her who is wealthy and has a lot of fans that sometimes they live in a bubble where they might not always see things realistically like the average jane. She seems like a great boss and has a lot of fun with her employees but at the end of the day she owns the company and sometimes employees don't want to rock the boat by being honest with their boss.
For example the big wrapping paper reveal was underwhelming to me. I have young kids who like being able to tear off the wrapping paper and if I am going to invest in more expensive wrapping paper it is usually because I am buying some through a school fundraiser. LOL

I clearly am a negative nelly here lately (did I even spell that term right? I don't know, lol) but I think this idea is lame as lame can get. No way in hell am I spending $8 on wrapping paper, let alone buying it online. I've come to the point where I buy bags from Dollar Tree and holiday stuff on clearance after the fact. The only paper I buy full price is from Costco because you get like a football field worth of it and it's great quality (and even then, I only buy it VERY rarely) for a similar price as this (but probably 5x as much on a roll). I just don't understand why with the continued sway of our economy someone thinks that venturing into HIGH END WRAPPING PAPER of all things is a smart business idea. I just don't get it. It gets THROWN OUT after it's used...it's just to hide an item...this just screams first world OTT to me. I never understood it when Hazel & Ruby did it, but it fit into their existing market of DIY and home decor. I think the only out of the box recent idea I've actually not felt like a bitch for my opinion is the WRMK typewriter (and everyone else seems to think it's overpriced...considering you can buy antique typewriters for more than double, I actually don't think the price is awful, I just don't have $216 with tax to throw at it right now). I actually love it and want the black one (when it goes on sale, of course) baaaaadddddly. I think it's an amazing concept...I just recently got an older one and while it's okay, it definitely has it's quirks being that it's old (which means I often have to redo things because of them and me being a perfectionist) and the smell...I just can't handle the 'old' smell of it but don't have a clue how to get rid of it. This is a fresh new take on something making a comeback and it's shiny (or matte, in reality, I think) and new and the ribbons being readily available in fancy color combinations just wins my heart...I can't wait to coupon the black/teal and stock up. But wait...we were talking about wrapping paper, weren't we? Did I already say no thanks...? I'm glad I'm not the only negative nelly! The last time I was at target my fingers literally hurt wanting to buy all the cute stationary stuff but then I realized I'll never use any of it. I just wanted it to look at. So I resisted. I usually buy blank paper at the dollar tree and decorate it myself. $8 for wrapping paper is insane. More like a realistic Rachel. That much for wrapping paper and it's ugly wrapping paper at that. Um I can go to Hallmark and get some really nice wrapping paper for less. I won't though as we use gift bags exclusively. Maybe she will come out with bedding and other stuff. Remember Coterie with Lisa Bearnson? Yeah, that was a flop, too. She needs to team up with something other than project life and make great products.

I think she got bad advice on the direction and editing of this vid.

I'm trying to continue to follow her because I have enough product to do Project Life for about 20 years, not to mention the digital and app kits I have, but it's getting harder and harder to not click unfollow.
I know the point is to sell product, but I can't take the constant "here is how I do my make up" "how to hang a picture using command strips" etc. Do people really ask where everything she wears and has in her home is from? Do people not know how to hang pictures?
Honestly, if all the information posts about her life were done in a Project Life page, I'd be less annoyed.
I must be really negative tonight too because I'm sure she's a wonderful person and I'm happy she is successful. She's obviously worked hard, but it's getting harder and harder to believe she scrapbooks. I do like the wrapping paper, sucker for paper products, but am not sure I'd order.
I actually wrote that I wanted to see less "favorite product" stuff and fluff from her and her staff, or for them to start a separate account for it or something, on a survey she had up a few months ago. I just want to see her crafting & scrapping and photo organization ideas. That's it. I don't give two cents about what laundry detergent she uses and things like that and it was just cluttering up my brain. After getting tired of scrolling through this kind of thing, I finally unfollowed her on various social media platforms. It made me sad, because she is part of the reason I started scrapping and I do generally like seeing that sort of stuff from her, but I just hated the exessive content more. I would love a separate feed! I bought all the dang product, so I want the inspiration, I just don't find the rest of it authentic (my opinion) and I wish I didn't need to see that stuff to get the tips, tricks, and inspiration I want with the photos and PL stuff.
I always find it odd when people ask for feedback and then do nothing with it. There are some people that have no intention of doing anything with it, so they don't fake it with asking for it. Fine with me, but don't ask and then ignore it. Or maybe there are enough that like it so it doesn't matter if a few are alienated.

scrapaddict702 I didn't realize the typewriter could have colored ribbon. My antique one is cranky, it would be nice to have a smooth one. I wonder if there will be a good sale some day. There's something about BH that rubs me the wrong way, I haven't followed her for years. But I wish her luck developing this line. She's never been someone I think of as artistic or design oriented, not since her lettering books. She is a person that senses the needs of her followers and meets them.

Why such hate for Becky? Some of you sound kinda jealous of her success if you wanna know the truth. But to each their own right? Dang though if you really don't care for Becky then just don't buy her products or follow her on social media. It's really that easy!

I just think sometimes it's the tall poppy syndrome. Becky's a big fish in the scrap industry. She's makes a nice target. She's selling her brand, that's her job. I give her props for seeing an idea that had been done before with little staying power and running with it at just the right time. She doesn't bug me because I don't find her malicious or snotty or crazy. If it's too much I can always unfollow.

Her office regularly looks like a pajama party in progress. If I had to work there I'd have to punch someone on a daily basis--definitely not jealous. They act like they are A) 12 and B) invented all things genius like photo organization, pocket scrapbooking, and now wrapping paper.

I'm really not trying to be confrontational, but this is often thrown out when people critique someone that is successful in an industry that is a hobby for many. I can assure you, I'm not jealous. I actually really like PL. I want to see more of it, and less of the other stuff!!!

I thought people were making some good points about what they like or don't like about Becky Higgins. And that's OK. It seemed like most people were saying they enjoy following her except they'd like different social media accounts for different topics. Positive changes can be made from negative responses. I'm amused by this idea that if something negative is said about a well known person their fans either cry JEALOUSY or feel they must excuse themselves from such negativity as though they have the vapors.
Personally, I have never much cared for Becky Higgins or lifestyle gurus in general. I tend not to look to other people for inspiration on how to live. Some people love having that kind of direction and inspiration and that's great for them. Not everyone wants or needs it, though.
It's ok for me to not like someone you like and it's ok for you to not like someone I like.

Just saw the video, her business would be better served by having advisors NOT in scrap world or her fans.
I am not in the mood to be controversial, but I think it's odd women declare jealousy, when one has a critical opinion. There's something a little backward or mean girls about the jealousy comments. We aren't friends, we are the potential purchasers of the products.
Why wouldn't we have opinions? Are we supposed to be nice girls and only say positive things? Even when the products don't work, or a commercial missed its mark? Hopefully the manufacturers, product designers and management teams are listening to their clientbase, not worried about being popular personalities.
Lol, and then we wonder why scrap companies fail.

Exactly. If we don't provide our opinion and praise everything, companies aren't going to succeed because they'll make things that people won't buy. It's not like walking up to someone and telling them their outfit that day sucks. She's a business, she's opening herself up to criticism as a result. If consumers don't give accurate feedback (true, some comments could be nicer, I've been full of snark a lot lately) a company might not know why their product isn't selling well. It could simply be a case of bad marketing or too much fluff (in Becky's case: oversharing her personal life, giving advice/recommendations not asked for, constantly discussing religion, telling people to get rid of things to find joy followed by 'buy this from me') that drives your customers away.

What's funny is that Jennifer McGuire just closed on a new house and posted the start of the renovations and included in that post the information for a new IG specifically for her home renovations because she didn't want to annoy people with content that wasn't relevant to her business side of things. I immediately followed it because that is actually one thing I would have loved to see on her main account because I am also an HGTV junkie (periodically, anyway) and love that kind of thing...but I'm guessing there are plenty of people who disagree and are happy she created the second account. See? I think that's brilliant. If people want to see posts on their feed about your wall colors or bathroom reno, more power to them. And they can follow the other feed to do that. But throwing all that into what is really, in essence, a single business IG is not a good idea. I'm glad Jennifer McGuire was smart enough to realize this. I think that's what a lot of us are asking for from other "celebs" - keep a separate feed for your friends/fans vs. your customers. They're not necessarily interested in the same things. And because IG is feed-based, when some brands do personal posts, there's really no way to "skip" them - they scroll into your feed along w/everything else - so it's particularly smart of JM to do this on her IG. For other social media, like YouTube, at least you have to choose to start a video - so it's easier to avoid a video about their bookclub book, or some other non-hobby related post.

Count me amongst those who thought there'd be actual home goods in her line.
As for the wrapping paper: none of the designs appeal to me so I won't be buying any. However, I don't find $8 for a roll of good quality wrapping paper excessive. That's pretty much normal in my area;a standard roll at Hallmark is $6+, the rolls at the Container Store are about that as well.
Of course I love wrapping gifts.lol I love all the pretty paper and bows and handmade tags. I don't like bags except for odd shaped/sized items.
But yeah I won't be buying these papers.
