This might seem lame, but I treated myself to a personalized license plate. My DH has one and I and DD have had them in the past. I got a new to me van recently and there are so many like it on the road, I knew I better find some way of personalizing it so I didn't try to get into someone else's. I took a list of possibilities to the tag office and I was tickled that my 2nd favorite was available. Now I just have to actually put it ON the van. LOL I've been buying blue tooth speaker for the house and garden. I have a couple of these for different rooms in the house where I tend to spend a lot of time. I also bought one of these for the garden. I love that it's solar so I don't have to worry about taking it in and charging it when I leave the garden. I also recently bought replacement ear pads and head pads for my fancy sound canceling headphones. I've had the headphones for so long the fake leather and foam had completed deteriorated. DH wanted me to just buy a new set of headphones, but I've had these for forever and they work great. They fold, so they fit in my purse, and they fit my ears without fitting so tight I get a headache. For $10, I have a like new set of headphones that cover my ears just right. Since I was buying electronics, I also treated myself to some new cables and chargers. I now have USB/lightening cables in various lengths attached to chargers all around the house. I also bought some to go in my van. While it has a great entertainment system, the sound system predates external AUX ports, so I can't play my iPhone over the built-in sound system. I put one of the mini bluetooth speakers and the appropriate cables in the van and now we have a way to listen to audio books when we travel. Eventually I'll replace the stereo, but this works great for now. I've also been on a buying binge for accessories for my electric pressure cooker (ECP), but I don't consider them purchases for ME so much as something that the whole family will benefit from. My DH doesn't know who Elaine is, but he knows when I mention her name, something good will follow! Marcy

I feel like this was a splurge...but it may be necessary for my sanity. I just bought heavy duty commercial type washer/dryer set yesterday. I spent a lot of money and i'm so excited for them to be installed today. My washers don't last long around here so hopefully this takes care of the problem I did the same thing as this time last year. I bought the W and D in November, but I didn't get them delivered and installed until January. I had to have my laundry room retiled and my vent cleaned out before I put the new set in. Honestly, it was the best thing I did all year, though my new oven was a very close second. My old set was in such bad shape, clothes weren't coming clean and drying them took forever. I kid you not when I tell you that my electric bill went down $50/month after we got the new set installed. My mom loves to do laundry and now that she stays with us a lot, she thinks the new washer and dryer were gifts to her. LOL She likes that the dryer is on a pedestal so she doesn't have to bend down. I've had the set for almost a year and I bet I haven't used it myself 20 times. Marcy

I just treated myself to a new professional dress form. Ordered it at quilt festival last week and am spending the extra to have her padded out to my measurements. I've named her Hazel and she should arrive in 4-5 weeks. Can't wait to get back to sewing for myself. The man taking my measurements was Joe Vecchiarelli, owner of the company and a fit specialist on Dancing with the Stars. Does this make me somewhat famous? this is brilliant! When DD gets settled, I may suggest she do something like this. She sews, which is a good thing. Have you ever tried find something off the rack that fits someone who is 4'10" and wear a size 34GGG bra? It's not fun! She'd love to be able to alter things to fit her. Marcy

Nothing recent because I'm trying to be good before my UK holiday - looking forward to splurging a bit when I'm in London Is sterling working in your favour at the moment? If so, consider buying in dribs and drabs just in case there is a bounce off the back of what is happening in the US.

I bought a FoodSaver today at Sam's. I've been wanting one for ages and Sam's had them on sale. DH doesn't think we need one. Silly man. What does he know?

Well nothing like anyone else I bought some scrappy supplies. I bought a new Cricut Air 2 and have been playing with it all day. I also splurged on some dies and stamps today - I was so excited to see the matching numbers to a set of alphas I have and love.
Such a fun thread and much needed escape today.

Oh I forgot about concert tickets! That same day I got home from my mega shopping trip, there was an email for advance purchase tickets to Nigel Kennedy. The UK ladies might know better who he is, he's a British violinist who in 1989 released a version of Vivaldi's 4 Seasons that went on to become one of the best selling classical records of all time. The reason he caught everyone's attention is that he's not your normal violinist, he's always been a bit of a punk, has spikey hair, piercings, wears ripped clothes etc. How he looks and how he plays are a direct contrast. I've been listening to that version of the 4 Seasons ever since. He toured Australia in the early 1990s and I was so excited to get tickets. Just before he came in stage their was an announcement that there was a change in the program and due to some recent surgery Nigel wasn't able to play Vivaldi! Apparently all the years of holding the violin and chemicals from the resin etc had created a lump in his neck that he'd just had removed and he wasn't allowed to hold the violin normally, he had to hold it like a fiddle against his upper arm and not his neck. He played a variety of different music and while I still enjoyed his playing, the actual concert was horrible - people got up and walked out in droves while he was playing, they were those fold down chairs so every time someone got up there was the 'thwack' of the chair. All the old people left. By the end there were only about 1/4 of us left. People were really rude. Then two years ago he came back to Australia...but he was playing Bach and a variety of more modern music (The Beatles Hey Jude is brilliant as a classical violin piece!) It was just him onstage and 3 other guys - I think it was a cello, double bass and percussion. It was brilliant. I kept hoping there'd be a bit of Vivaldi, but there wasn't. He still has the spikey hair, was wearing a skill t-shirt and neon green running shoes.
So get home last Tuesday and there's an email that Nigel is coming back to Australia in Jan next year....to play The Four Seasons!! I almost wet myself. I've been waiting 25 years for this. Couldn't click on the links fast enough to get a ticket. I'm in the 6th row just slightly off centre. To say I'm looking forward to it is an understatement.
If you've always liked bits of Vivaldi's The Four Seasons - then do yourself a favour and go to iTunes and listen to Nigel's original recording.

Why oh why did you remind me of the Nintendo Classic? I just bought the Plastation VR and it is sucking up every free moment and now this. Great, will see if I can track one down today. I am telling you, video games are going to be my demise. Well I didn't get one. I stood in line outside in the freezing cold for over an hour. I was 14th in line. the friggin store only got 9! I go to a GameStop that is not very busy since they are about every 10 feet in my area. I got there about two minutes before they opened thinking maybe they might have some, well the store was already open I was really wrong. The GameStop guy knows me and as I walked in he said "sold out". He told me there were people lined up outside the store and sold the twelve they received, turning people away. Oh well.

I think this wins the record as the longest thread I've ever started, and dang, I'm not so sure it was a good idea. I now kinda want to buy half the stuff that's been posted, and I can't afford that!

I know. Along with the new Bath and Body Works shop in that same center our first Sephora has opened too - now I want to go back and get some of that Fresh "lip sugar' stuff.

I have just bought a Korres long lasting eyeliner...just one more in my search for one that stays put for a decent amount of time now that my middle aged lids have become rather oily. Try using eyelid primer underneath. Elf sells one for a couple of dollars. You can pick it up at Target or CVS.

I bought a shawl/wrap. I HATE shopping for clothes, but popped into a store to look for something, and I liked it and just bought it (rare for me, I tend to overthink everything and make sure it is practical).

I found a pair of dressy but comfortable boots, I wore them all day yesterday and my feet didn't hurt! And this. 😆 I got it for my friend but she already had it. I decided I needed to keep it.

I haven't seen Elf here but I've tried Urban Decay and others.... so far Avon has been best, better than some pricier ones actually. I put the new liner on at lunchtime after blotting my eyelids (didn't have my primer with me) and it had disappeared a few hours later but I'll give it a go tomorrow with my primer. Thanks for the suggestion

I bought a pair of Bose sport earbuds just today.
DS has co-opted my Bose over ear headphones and I'd like something a little more subtle.
