This challenge is for those who scrap slowly and need encouragement to keep scrapping all month or those who want a little encouragement to continue scrapping. It is great for those new to Challenges and is a fun place to come chat with other Pokey scrappers. 1. Post a layout each week, or four layouts per month. These can be posted in the thread or in the gallery. If you post in the gallery, be sure to come to the thread and tell us you posted and tell us the name of the layout so we can find it. You can copy the URL from the gallery and paste it directly into your thread for a link. 2. This challenge can be combined with any other challenges and can be paper, digital or hybrid scrapping. These can be cards, layouts or altered items or any other creative projects. 3. Please comment on the work of others on the thread as your time allows. We all love comments on our layouts. 4. Have fun with this! This should be a "no pressure" challenge. Just post what you finish whether it is one layout or more than four. Come chat with the group as time permits. We love to welcome new members . There are no prizes for this challenge, just a chance to enjoy the works of other Pokey Peas Refugees. Please feel free to contact me with any questions.

HAPPY NEW YEAR TO EACH OF YOU POKEY PEAS.It seemed so weird to type 2017! justjac , will you post your page over here. I don't think many got to see it. Thanks! I'm off to church to meet my seven new 8 year-olds. I know one of them already and he's a handful. We'll see how it goes today. I love teaching, but it seems like there is always one who causes trouble for everyone. Have a great New Years Day today and tomorrow!

Happy Monday. Thinking for most it is a holiday, but what do retired people know ? We spent New Years Day with dh's sister and her family: had a roast beef supper and a game of canasta. Got home about 10:30 PM. I was in bed before midnight and didn't get up until after 9:00AM today. We are staying home today. Dh is glued to the TV watching the World juniors hockey tournament. I have been puttering, putting gifts away, putting my calendar pages into the display stand with the January page on top, doing some laundry. Yesterday, my arm felt pretty good so I moved it quite a bit. Today the shoulder is really stiff and sore, so I am being pretty gentle with it. My goal is to try doing some crafting tomorrow while dh is gone all day. Will see how that goes... My win for today is that I am typing this two handed instead of hunt and peck as I have been doing for over a month. Hope you all have a wonderful start to the month and the year!

Good evening Pokeys! Hope your new year is off to a good start! I took my tree down today, and all indoor decorations. Could not bring down the garland out front as it has been raining and I can't pack them away when they are wet. I will be able to do them in a couple of days. The kids were real good today. They do not go back to school til Wednesday so will be here tomorrow too. I did not get much of anything else done today ans no creating! I might get in there tonight for an hour or so.
Nylene sounds like your Sunday school class may be a handful!
Grammadee it sounds lke yourt arm healing is well on it way. Just don't get in too big of a hurry!
Ok I am off for tonight

Happy New Year - Well it took hubby and I three full days of work to put Christmas in the shed (and he still has the bush and tree lights to work on this week). It has been exhausting. But I am so looking forward to getting crafty for 2017.

maribeth , our Christmas decorations stay up until at least after January 7th (Ukrainian Christmas) and sometimes until after January 14th (Ukrainian New Year). This year, who knows? I can move my arm, but not lift much with it or move it above my head, so will need some help... I scrapped this morning!!! This will be the last page in my Winter album. Used some old supplies, was inspired by the ACOT 30/30 challenge for January 2nd. Chose a photo I liked (again one I have used before, but not for my regular albums), grabbed a collection that went with it (colour AND theme: Yay!!!), and just started cutting the different sized pieces the challenge called for. once upon a time by Gramma Dee, on Flickr And I used the sketch in the SCT 365 class I am enrolled in to put together this two pager: Snow is falling by Gramma Dee, on Flickr But I think that is all for today. Still tiring really quickly, and every time I go to get something it seems to require a different movement my shoulder doesn't want to make. (The arm bone seems to be okay, but the shoulder which has not been doing anything for a month is complaining a LOT when I try to get it to do anything) Anyway, it feels good to be scrapping!

Hello, everyone! It's nice to see your happy smiling faces on this new year. We have been "dumped on" with snow and I'm hoping that the drive to school tomorrow is not too bad. Several school districts were closed with a Snow Day. scrapincin , how is your sister? I hope she is doing better. I've been worrying and praying for her. I'm sure you have enjoyed have the grands today. Did you do something fun? grammadee , for someone with just "one wing" you accomplish a lot of scrappy stuff. I'm glad the arm is healing. Be careful with it, we want you mobile and able to make us all jealous with all that you accomplish! I'll leave you some love in the gallery. maribeth , congrats on getting your Christmas put away. Do you remember that mine came down on Jan 30 last year. I'm planning to do it a little earlier this year, but I love having it up so much, I hate to take it down. I hope your 2017 is better than your 2016. I know this has been a hard year for you. Hang in there! LisaDV , justjac and kellyr21 , how was your New Year and what fun plans do you have for this year? I need to run get dinner ready. There's never a vacation from fixing dinner, is there?

Happy New Years ladies! We had a nice New Year's Eve and day. Most of you know my city does a float for the Rose Parade every year. I have been wanting to help decorate it for a few years and missed it again. So maybe next time I will make it. But they usually bring it back to city hall area so we can see it afterwards. So maybe tonight if it is there I can check it out. I posted part 3 of my Christmas cards on my blog. Part 3 HereNylene- Thanks for our new thread! I hope you are nice and warm with that snow. How did you Sunday School with the kiddos turn out? Cindy- My dh and I watched lots of college bowl games and now I wonder who will win the championship game? Grammadee- Glad you are feeling better and using that arm more. Maribeth- I still have decorations up and maybe will take them down this weekend. I got mine up so late I figure a few more days are good. LOL! Waving hi to you all and have a restful evening!

kellyr21, nice to see you checking in. My Primary children were angels on Sunday. I couldn't believe it. I've never had such a sweet class. I hope they stay that way. It's fun to have younger kids this year. I've been meaning to ask you about something you posted last month. Of course I can't find it now, but you said something about when you were teaching. Did I know you were a teacher? Fill me in. I just left you a note on your blog. We are still getting dumped on. My daughter just south of us had 15 inches in her front yard and it's going to snow tonight and all day tomorrow. I braved the elements and went to school today, but the roads were all well plowed. I don't go again until Friday so I hope they get plowed again. When we have this much snow the temp. goes up. I prefer the 30's to the 10's. I have some pages to post, but I haven't scanned them yet. Maybe tomorrow! Have a great day, everyone!

Happy New Year! nylene , thanks for the thread. How did the Sun. Sch. class go? Will they be a handful? I must have been reading through the thread while you posted. Glad they were behaved. grammadee , both of your layouts are wonderful, but I'm loving the Once Upon a Time one!! Also, I think we need to bottle up your energy and sell it. I'm always in awe of all you accomplish, but with a bum arm to boot!!! Geez, woman, you make us all look bad. Seriously happy that you are healing, just remember to not rush yourself. maribeth , I'm sure you are very happy to have your holiday things put away so you can move on to crafting. kellyr21 , as always, those are such cute cards. I love your signature bow. scrapincin , hope you were able to create today with the kids back in school. I'm busy with school and home life. We have a follow-up neurologist appointment for dd next Monday, so we'll be going down and staying with DH while he works. The following day the kids and I will visit a Frank Lloyd Wright house and the art museum. The next day is just pool play. Oh, I'm also on call for jury duty during January through March. ugh.

Glad the kids were fun to work with, nylene. That makes the whole experience worthwhile for everyone. You must have the golden touch! Too bad you didn't get to help with the Rose Bowl float, kellyr21. Hope you get to look at it up close so you are all ready for next year! Your cards are always so pretty. LisaDV, I see that you are as busy as ever. Hope you get a little down time that you can play with that new printer and chill out and create. Hope your dd's appointment goes well, and that the jury is full before they get to you in line. I did a little scrapping this morning: finished a page I started yesterday and then completed its partner. Pretty basic pages--just pp and cs and photos and stickers for the most part. Got to use some of my hockey stash. The only artsy detail was I handwrote some of the titles with Nuvo crystal drops. I will link them below. This afternoon I DROVE to town for my followup doctor's appointment and x-ray. Also did some banking while in town. It was SOOOO good to be independent!!! The arm is healing nicely. The x-ray tech showed me the pictures and then emailed them to me so I can forward them to my ddil who is a physio therapist. Ddil is sending me some exercises tomorrow to help me regain some more mobility. I can do most motions now as long as the arm is below shoulder level: I have to work on getting it to go higher than that. New Look Same Game by Gramma Dee, on Flickr New Look Same Game 2 by Gramma Dee, on Flickr Tomorrow dh is going to be gone for much of the day, so I am hoping to get some more crafting done. Guess I will count that as my "exercises"!

Good evening Pokeys! Glad to see how busy you gals are. I accomplished nothing today. The kids went back to school today. They came here at the end of the day and played with their computers. Bobby had his friend over as he does a couple times a week. Maggie brings hers on Thursday. It is nice to see them getting to interact with the other kids.
My sister is doing well so far on this new antibiotic. Thank goodness and thanks for all your prayers. I just hope she gets rid of this infection once and for all.
Lisa-I did not make it into my scrap room yet today but last night I was working on some flowers to make a couple cards with so maybe this evening I will get back there.
Well I am getting off of here for now.

grammadee - loving your sports pages. They feel very bold which I think works perfectly for showing off this boy and his sport. Great job. grammadee - such a wonderful soft and sweet page for Once Upon a Time - giving such a cozy and peaceful feel with the way you structured this page. Snow is Falling is a great of those bold blues. And the photos, well a page could not go wrong with those wonderful pics.

Here is a photo of when DGD returned from her mission in Spain. Pretty simple page, but I had fun using my Cameo to cut all the embellishments. Welcome Home by Nylene Budge, on Flickr LisaDV, I agree that grammadee puts us all to shame with her energy. I wish she's share it with each of us. I'll be back later to chat. I need to get some food into my DH. He's been out all morning snowblowing the whole neighborhood.

grammadee, such a great double page. I really like how you wrote the "new"s and "same". I'm assuming it was with your Nuvo drops ? but could easily be perfect pearls or fabric paint or other things that mimic the same look. I just love how it looks. I'm also hoping that they are full before they get to me. But I've been practicing to get out of it. "I can tell whether their guilty or not just by looking at them." Point to the judge, yelling, "Guilty!". "All police are corrupt and on the take." "Will all 5 of my personalities get to vote?" "Can we give the death penalty?" (only if it's a really minor crime) LOL Of course, I'm kidding. I would gladly serve. scrapincin, glad the antibiotics are working for your sister. continued prayers for her. nylene, Love your page. You did a fabulous job!

Happy Thursday! It was raining here and now it is a little sunny. Not much creative going on here but just routine stuff. Hope you all are having a nice evening. Thanks for visiting my blog and glad you like the cards. I still have to clean up my mess and get ready for ... Valentine's Day. I love making Valentine's cards. nylene - Yes, I was a substitute teacher for some years. So I know how you felt anticipating that first day of class with the kiddos. Glad they were a great group. grammadee - Happy to hear your arm is getting better. That means more scrapping!

Good evening, Pokeys. You ladies crack me up! You DO realize that I am doing exactly NOTHING except crafting in a day when I actually get something accomplished?!? I am not a dynamo like maribeth ! Glad to hear your sister is improving, scrapincin. When that happened to me, it was almost six months before I felt anything like myself again. Love your page, nylene . Great use of those Silhouette shapes! What a great way to welcome your dgd home! Hope you have dug yourselves out of all that snow! We have had a little more today, but not like you are having. Yes, LisaDV , I did use my Nuvo crystal drops to write those titles on the hockey pages. Two of them, I wrote on acetate and then glued down. The last one I wrote right on the page. Looking forward to your valentines, kellyr21 . Will you be selling them? Today I finished a couple more pages. I will link them below. I also started a few art journal pages that I may be able to use as backgrounds for my next project. Did some painting, slathered some clear gesso over it, then added some stamping and stenciling. I am never really happy with how these pages turn out, so I am hoping to get at least a couple of matts out of the 4 pages I have started. Here are my finished pages. My ds took these photos and sent them to me, and I got to use an EP "I Love Family" collection to scrap them: Oh brother! by Gramma Dee, on Flickr Oh brother! 2 by Gramma Dee, on Flickr

Happy Friday! Hope you all are doing well today. Waving hello to you all. linda - Welcome! nylene - You asked how I make my paper flowers on those Christmas cards. Well, I used three dies (Spellbinders scalloped circles) Then, I folded in half and again and sort of crumbled them. After that, I opened them all up and hot glued the layers together and that's it. I love making them and hope you try it out. Oh and your dgd's trip to Spain is awesome. How long did she stay? Did you ever go on an international missions trip in your college years? I didn't go on anything like that but I did go to Israel for a month on a study program in college. So awesome! grammadee - Nice to hear you art journaling. I hope to get back into it this year. I still have a painting to finish so I hope to get back to that too.

nylene - what a wonderful page, I love the stacked suitcases, the map background and the die cut (assuming) plane. Great feel to this page. grammadee - Oh Brother......are those pages just to cute. I love the masculine feel of these pages yet with touches of playfulness makes them work so well with the boy photos. Once again, you really hit your mark.

kellyr21, I have never done an international mission. I did a semester in Mexico City in college and my husband served a mission in New Zealand. Megan's mission was 18 months. She spent this Christmas in a tiny little town in Mexico on a humanitarian mission. They used her a lot to translate since she speaks Spanish and most of the volunteers didn't. I have always wanted to go to Israel, but with the world situation I have changed my mind. (not that I'd have a chance to go anyway) I'll bet you loved it. maribeth, thanks for the sweet comments on my layout. Everything on it was cut with my Cameo. I can't seem to do a page without it now. I am really enjoying it and credit scrapincin for encouraging me to get it and helping me learn to use it. How are things at work? Is this a busy time of year for you? grammadee, I am loving your pages. I noticed you had posted some others with your art journaling. I'll go leave you some love for them too. It was -3 when I went to school today. It was cold in the building and I'm just now warming up. We are expecting another storm next week, so it will warm up long enough to snow! I'll be back later. Have a great weekend.

Thanks for all your positive feedback both here and in the Gallery! Today I finished two pages using some art journaling pages I did a couple of days ago using Shannon Green's "Journaling by 5's" technique. I actually only got to step #3. Good thing, because I ended up covering up most of the journaling sheets with my photos. nylene, I would love to have a play date with you! You could teach me all the ins and outs of the Silhouette. Maybe we could invite kellyr21 and she could show us how to make those cool flowers and soft bows. Hey, I bet all the pokeys would have something to contribute and something to learn! Move over cousin camp: the pokeys are moving in! You asked about how I coloured the corners of the cs. justjac does a better job of this, and I think it makes a difference what finish your cs has. I think if you have a smoother finish, you can "smoosh" the colours more. My cs was pretty absorbant, so the ink kind of stayed where I dabbed it. I used a few colours of Tim Holtz Distress inks. They are activated with water, so they work well with this technique; not sure which other inks would work. Anyway, I scrunched up some plastic wrap and used it as a sponge to pick up some ink from one of the pads. Then I spritzed the plastic with water, and dabbed the wet ink onto the cardstock in a few different places. Repeated with a different colour, and so on. Started with yellow, then green then blue. When I switched from blue to pink, I took a clean piece of plastic. Anyway, here are my artsy pages. I did NOT paint the title. I basically stole it from the Creativation website: just saved their logo as a picture, and then printed it. Don't think I am breaking copyright laws if I am not selling my work? creativation by Gramma Dee, on Flickr creativation 2 by Gramma Dee, on Flickr

How are things at work? Is this a busy time of year for you? Yes and no - We have a lot of paperwork to do to close out the year and get ready for the CPA to review the books, but then there are days like yesterday when we are at a standstill to continue our paper work (pending year end invoices from vendors etc), and snow on the ground, so no daily work to tackle where I sat all day with nearly nothing to do, just dying to be home so I could spend time with my husband and my fur babies. It is so frustrating. Hoping to scrap some today.

Hope you all had a restful Saturday. Not a lot happening around here. No crafting. I did some sorting through some tubs that had been moved from the laundry room when we changed out the appliances. Things are sorted now: just need to be put away.
Talked to the "kids" and made plans for my 70th birthday next month. We will drive down to Calgary for that weekend. That way we can celebrate with the majority of the family members. With kids in organized sports and with preschoolers, it's hard for them to come to us.
It is quite cold here, and the trees are all covered in a thick layer of frost. We got a bit more snow last night, but again, not much. We went out for supper with dh's sister for Ukrainian Christmas and are now home watching curling on TV.
Hope your weekend is going well, and that the second half is great, too.

Good evening Pokeys! Haven't been here for a few but have been doing chores. Made a card and got my scrap clutter cleaned up so I feel like doing something when I go in there instead of looking at the mess. I have so many things to do around here. The decorations are down but I still have to put them where they go in storage room. grammadee love those pages and will be leaving you some love in the gallery. It sounds like you are going to really celebrate that birthday next month. Well my legs are dancing so need to get up and move around. BBL

grammadee, both sets of layouts are fantastic. I'm sure your birthday will be a success too. When is the happy day? maribeth, you really need comp time, so when you are so busy you are working over you can balance it by taking off when nothings happening. nylene, we're in a warm up. It's 25 and we're expecting to reach 40 tomorrow. But here I sit in the hotel with the heat cranked to 72, wishing I could afford to do that at home. 😂. Stay warm! Waving hello to everyone else. Today was a follow-up appt. for my dd's neurologist. I like him. Ever since the end of August, her & I have both felt like she's lost any momentum she had in July and August. But the Dr. kept excellent notes and could compare then and now. I'm tearing up just like I did after the appt (when dd couldn't see me). When you're in the day to day of it. It just doesn't seem like much of an improvement. But her "head" headaches were several times a week lasting 3-4 hours. Now 1 time a week and the Tylenol usually gets rid of it in 1 - 2 hrs. She frequently couldn't function with the pain before. Now even with a high pain she is mainly able to concentrate enough for school work or crafts. He upped her meds. We have to find a biofeedback counselor. And continue with the improvements we've made. It was just so relieving to hear something positive when I've just felt so helpless and hopeless over the last couple of months. Like a renewing of the spirit! Then we took my computer tower to geek squad. I had replaced it, but have not been happy with the replacement computer. We took it in because I thought a school disc was stuck inside. They got it to turn right on. I could get no power. It might be my power cord at home has gone bad as they used their. They're running diagnostics and updating drivers and cleaning it up. It's 5 years old, but I ❤️ that thing. I can't wait to have my trusted friend back. Wow! I just wrote a book. So sorry about that. I'm off to make up the pullout couch in the suite. Think it's time to get the kids ready for bed and maybe crank the heat a notch.🤣
