nylene , I would love to have a play date with you! You could teach me all the ins and outs of the Silhouette. Maybe we could invite kellyr21 and she could show us how to make those cool flowers and soft bows. Hey, I bet all the pokeys would have something to contribute and something to learn! Move over cousin camp: the pokeys are moving in! I can't figure out how to quote and get the cursor outside of the box so that it doesn't all look like a quote? ? LOL! grammadee. We would have a wonderful time with all the Pokeys at my house....however, I doubt you all would be as eager as the grandchildren to sleep on floors and couches! We could have fun decorating cupcakes and kellyr21 could teach us all. scrapincin would be the one to teach the ins and outs of the Silhouette. She's the pro! kellyr21, I'll bet the kids loved you as a substitute. When I was doing that, it seemed that some of the subs had reputations as being "mean" so kids would groan when they arrive. I'm sure they enjoyed you. I tried a flower like you made and it turned out pretty good. I love flowers that are well shaped. I hope none of you are having terrible weather problems. It looks like Michigan and Ohio are in for some terrible storms. Stay safe scrapincin and LisaDV. kellyr21, are you drowning with all the rain in CA? I plan to call Anj tonight to see if they have flooding. I didn't see what was headed for Canada, but I hope grammadee and justjac are safely tucked in. maribeth, you said you have snow. Do you always get snow? You must be up higher than the desert areas. I hope your weather is OK right now. We have big piles of snow and lots of rain coming. We are watching our driveway carefully so we don't have a repeat of the flood we had a couple of years ago. I have been scrapping up a storm, but haven't scanned anything. I'll do that tomorrow since I don't have school. Have a great week, everyone. Save

LisaDV, you must have been posting as I was. I am so happy to know that your DD's condition is some better. It's great that the headaches are less severe and easier to control. I can certainly understand your tears. Hugs and prayers for both of you and your family.

Good evening, Pokeys. Good to hear from some of you. I hope maribeth and justjac had good days at work today. Good to hear your dd is making some progress, LisaDV. Those autoimmune type illnesses are really hard to pin down. Hope your computer is good as new when you get it home. Yeah, nylene, I see what you mean about floor sleeping! I could quite happily sleep on a couch, though... But I am sure we would have a GREAT time, baking and eating cupcakes, creating away, and having a great chat. Looking forward to seeing your pages. Glad you made some progress with the decorations, scrapincin. Mine will be up until next week. I did get a few dishes and large containers put away today, though. Actually extricated my step stool from my scraproom--where it morphs into an under counter shelf when not used for its intended purpose--and returned the platters and containers to the cupboard above the upright freezer. Nothing much else happening around here today. It is -30C, both of us have colds, and dh spent the whole day in his recliner while I puttered around. I put away the paints and inks I used for the artsy pages. Started making some birthday cards, but my creativity seems to be having a nap. It was like trying to run under water... I DID find some stamps I haven't ever used, and played with--make that fought with--some punches. I think I have to cut some wax paper with them again: they all seem to be hanging onto the paper when the pieces have been cut, and with my one arm not very strong yet, I am finding it difficult to make them cut through cleanly and then getting out a nice crisp cut. Oh well, tomorrow is a new day. Guess we will have to see what it brings us.

maribeth, you really need comp time, so when you are so busy you are working over you can balance it by taking off when nothings happening. Yes Lisa, but that is if I lived in the real world, however my boss thinks if I am not there to handle EVERYTHING, that something awful will happen. He does not understand we don't perform brain surgery. My husband worked at the same place before he retired, he was the head mechanic and then in the end the mechanic supervisor. He would have to sit at his desk all day even on snow days even though every truck driver was off (no trucks running) and no trucks to work on. He just had to sit there and stare. Now granted we are on salary, however we both said "doc our pay for the hours we are not here, no problem" I even had a sit down with him earlier this year now that we are completely overstaffed in the office with two additional hourly employees. I told him hey they apparently need their hours, so when things are slow and there is nothing to do, just tell me to hit the road and doc my pay the hourly rate I would be paid for the time I am not in the office. He got upset at that and said, no I will be cutting back "their" hours if it gets slow. He has done neither. Luckily I was busy yesterday with working on the close out of the financial statements.

Love your pages, nylene. Glad you had a better day at work, maribeth. Dh spent another day in the recliner in front of the TV. His cold is really dragging him down. I spent another day clearing up clutter in the rest of the house. I managed to finish one bd card I started yesterday, but other than that not a lot of creativity around here. Tonight I chose the photos I want to scrap next: some school photos we got as Christmas gifts. I managed to get down an iris container with my "School" papers and extras, so should be ready to get started on that tomorrow. Have a terrific Tuesday evening, Pokeys, and a Wonderful Wednesday!

Happy Wednesday! It had really been raining here and I am not floating away yet! LOL! My poor dh has been sick with a cold all last week to now and it finally got me on Sunday night! Dang it! This cold bug is really tough and I can't remember getting this many colds in such a short time. So I feeling lousy but my creativity has still been buzzing. I am still on a flower making kick, so I made 6 more cards with an old pp pad and they look great. I will post later. I was gonna give these for our mom's to use but now I want to keep them!!! LOL! So maybe with the scraps I can make a few more today. grammadee- Yes, a pokey pea party sounds great! We would have the best time together. Hope you and your dh feel better soon. nylene- I think that is so neat that you too went on a missions trip to Mexico years ago. I am sure you have some fond memories. Yeah, Israel was amazing but with all the drama going on in the mid east I don't think I would want to go there now. I felt safe once we got there but you never know. Nice to hear you made your paper flowers. How did you like it? For now this is what I plan on doing since it is hard to find the right flowers in the stores sometimes. LisaDV- You are doing such a great job as a momma! Hang in there and I hope your dd continues to improve. maribeth- How are the fur babies? I can't wait till I can have one of my own. But apartment living is such a bummer at times. Over my lifetime, I have had cats, dogs, a pony and a lamb. I didn't realize how much I like animals until more recently. So maybe my next pet will be a cat. justjac, jana, and you other kind hearts have a super evening!

kellyr21, I am sorry you and Ron are both sick. It seems like you have really been hit this fall and beginning of winter. Stay in, stay warm and take care of each other. Sending hugs and prayers for quick recoveries. grammadee are you and your DH doing better today? Sending hugs and prayers for each of you also. I am holding my breath that I don't get sick this winter. Having the sawdust out of the house has done wonders for my health. LisaDV, I don't think I told you that DH has developed a bad allergy to something in his shop. He went through all the wood testing by taking in lots of samples of the woods he uses. The only one that reacted (and hugely reacted) was walnut! That's interesting after our chatting about nothing growing under walnut trees. Our son uses and loves walnut but it turns his hands black. No itching or rash like Steve's but black hands. Thought that would be interesting to you. So even though Steve uses all kinds of exotic, foreign woods, the one that really hurts him is walnut. maribeth, I would go nuts in your job when you don't have things to do. I don't "just sit" very well. In my younger years I couldn't watch TV without a stitching project going. Now I have to be cutting something out, or working on cards. I'm sure you must be that way too. It's hard when there is really nothing to do. I hope things get busier or your boss decides you can take off when things are slow. You are just too VALUABLE! I worked on a card for Card Club next week. It turned out cute. I'll photo it and post it. I don't know whether I will just make one for each member or whether our leader may want me to teach it to the other gals. I have until next Thursday to get them ready. scrapincin, thanks for your nice comments on my layouts at Scrapbook.com. You are always so kind. I hope you are taking it easy. I'll check in with you again tomorrow. Waving "hi" to all the Pokeys. Have a great rest of the week!

Good evening, Ladies! Hoping the cold virus is on its way out of here. Dh was feeling a bit better today and went to help his nephew feed cattle. I am down to an annoying dry cough and a bit of a sore throat, but otherwise feeling better. Didn't mean to send it your way, kellyr21. Hope you both feel better soon. That is too bad about your husband's allergy, nylene. Kind of ironic. We live in the middle of a poplar bluff, and guess what I am allergic to? Usually bothers me the worst in the spring when the fluff is in the air. Today, I finished the two pages I had planned last night, and worked on another card. Am not expecting to get much else done craftwise this week. I have a couple of appointments tomorrow and then physio on Friday. On Saturday, we are attending our grandniece's dance club supper and performance, and will be going into town a little early. I will FINALLY get my Christmas photos printed! Also have a package waiting for me at the LSS. I had told her I liked a couple of PhotoPlay lines and she called to say she had put a couple of collections away for me. oh, that is beyond frustrating to me. You should bring in something to do like a book to read or even a page kit to work on for when there is nothing to do. Years ago when I first started with them, the were really small and there was not even enough work for one person to keep busy all day, back then when it was just me they let me bring my hobbys because they new that if the phone rang or something came up that hobby would be dropped instantly and attention given to the task at hand. Now with two other women in the office that is not feasible because unfortunately they don't have that same propensity to see that you ARE at work and work comes first.

maribeth- How are the fur babies? I can't wait till I can have one of my own. But apartment living is such a bummer at times. Over my lifetime, I have had cats, dogs, a pony and a lamb. I didn't realize how much I like animals until more recently. So maybe my next pet will be a cat. The fur babies are wonderful, thank you for asking. The cats get along great, the new little one (who is getting bigger every day) follows Mr. Desmond around everywhere. We feared Desmond would not like this, but he loves it. The each have their own box in my craft room, and their own cubby on top of my tall cabinets as well. The sleep at the bottom of our bed mostly though. The dog, well he is a challenge. We do not let him off the leash in the house as he just gets into everything and will not leave the cats alone (not mean just annoying). But he is absolutely fine if you bring him in on a leash, just sits or lies down next to us. He is mostly an outside dog coming in to sleep, and in cold weather, but he would rather be out running in the yard than in. I think that is why he can't settle down off leash in the house. Hope you can get your own fur baby soon. I do not lots of people in apartments that have cats, and of course I think cats are great!

nylene - I can hear the song in my head as I am looking at your wonderful pages. I just love your style. All your cut work is so great. I so need a new machine but I have spent way too much money lately to make that purchase right now. What a joy your family is and you can see that in your photos and pages. Thank you for sharing your family with us.

grammadee - OH MY - look at those little gents. Those photos are so adorable. I love scraping the school photos, I know that isn't trendy, but I think those are the moments they will want to look back on in the future, I know I love the few school photos of myself that I have. I love the style of those pages it fits well with the portrait style photos. Formal placement, but the bits of whimsy bits tones it down to make it playful for the age of the boys. Thank you for sharing these wonderful moments with us.

maribeth , I laughed out loud when I read about the other workers not having the same propensity to see that you ARE at work and work comes first . I've worked with others like that! LOL. Good luck on those slow days. grammadee , I love your photos of your little boys. Left you some love in the gallery. I hope you continue to improve each day with the arm. I slipped twice on ice as I walked into the school yesterday. It really scares me. I look like I'm about 100 years old as I take slow, tiny steps getting in each day. Here is a page I finally got scanned. These photos were taken at Angie's home in CA. Hello Crafts by Nylene Budge, on Flickr Off to Costco with DH. BBL

Good afternoon ladies! I decided to show up over here today even though I do not have much going on. Its nice to see everyone stopping by to update on how its going. Nylene I think we all walk like we are on eggs as we can't afford a broken hip. I know when it is icy I am very careful. I fell one morning when I was working on black ice and broke my tailbone. not fun.
Maribeth I alwAYS hated it at work when I ran out of things to do. Just sitting there makes the day go by so slowly. Hopefully things will pick up. You would think your boss would be up to saving a few bucks but I guess he wants you there since you are his right hand man. He knows he can depend on you which is a compliment.
Kelly you and Ron have both been catching colds a lot. Sounds like a bad year for you. Hopefully it will just be colds but they are discouraging. They just mess up your day. I hope your area os not getting all that rain. I know you were low but you did not need it all at once.
Lisa- glad to hear your DD is improving. Even a small improvement is encouraging. It is so hard when your kids are sick. But I think you are doing your best and sounds like headed in the right direction. Did you get your computer back yet?
Grammadee those boys are just way too cute! You are doing well with scrapping ans sounds like you are healing well. So glad to hear.
Ok going to start dinner BBL

kellyr21 - Those cards are stunning. Maybe try putting the sentiments on white cardstock backed by some more of the gold foil and cut in a banner style, you could put the sentiment in the space above or below the embellished part of the card and do a few of each (top and bottom) - Those cards are absolutely gorgeous, great job Kelly and thank you so much for sharing those with us.

Thanks for all your comments, Ladies. Love your page, nylene and your cards, kellyr21. Left some love in the Gallery. We lived in the deepfreeze today: -38C this morning. But there was no wind and the roads were clear. I had appointments today with my hairdresser and a lady at my bank. Paid off my credit cards and moved some money around. Came home and watched curling on TV. So nothing creative accomplished today. Tomorrow I have my first physio appointment. Since it is mid day, and an hour away, I don't envision doing any crafting tomorrow either. I think the weather is supposed to warm up, but that often means snow, so hoping the roads will be kind to me. Stay warm and dry, Ladies! Have a great Thursday evening and a fantastic Friday!

No nylene. You did not miss my birthday. It is the first weekend in February. We just had to do some planning early so we could have as many of the family in one place as possible. I drove to my physio today. The weather managed to moderate without sending snow, so the drive was uneventful. They did the intake interviews and then did a physical assessment, gave me some exercises to practice there and then continue at home, and then did a bit of massage. This office does not seem to have all the high tech equipment that some of them do: no ultrasound or deep heat or electromagnetic acupuncture. She told me that she is happy with how the arm is healing and that I am actually ahead of alot of people who have similar injuries in both the bone healing and the range of motion. I am supposed to do the exercises 3 times per day for 2 weeks and then go back for another assessment. In the meantime, I will be seeing my ddil who is a physiotherapist, so she can give me her assessment as well. Oh, and I also have to be aware of posture: I have been "guarding", or turning my shoulder in to protect it, and I have to make sure I keep rolling my shoulders back. I started a scrapbook page before I left and finished it while supper was cooking. It was too dark to take a photo. I hope to finish the facing page by Sunday and then show both of them to you. Have a great weekend, Ladies!

Hi Pokeys! Hope everyone is having a nice weekend and not being affected by the major ice storm going across the US. It is south of us so we should not get any of! I spent a quiet day in my craft room today working on a couple of cards. I posted them at the bottom of this page. I have been having more issues with my a fib so I am trying to take it easy until Monday when they are going to change some of my medications. I saw the doctor Friday but I was in a fib and they could not change anything while I was in that state. So behaving is not one of my virtiues but I think I am doing well so far. I am doing k today. I am out if a fib and doing a little better today. Enough about that stuff. GRammadee- good luck with yoiur therapy I am sure you will move thru rapidly. Those are lovely cards, scrapincin. That lattice heart one on the gatefold is my favorite. I will leave some love in the Gallery. Scarey news about your health! Hoping all has settled down now and that they can figure out the medication balance on Monday. Seems like they are always prescribing something to fix one thing and then that med affects something else, and it sometimes feels like a domino run. Dh was planning on going to Lloyd with me today, but he is under the weather again (stomach this time), so I went by myself. Printed my photos, picked up a few items I have needed for awhile, stopped in at the LSS to pick up some things she had set aside for me--plus some other things I saw when I got there. Had a late lunch and a lovely visit with justjac and her hubby plus another friend. Then I attended the dance performance and a late supper with dh's sister's family. Got home by 10:00PM. Dh seems to be doing better. He had heated himself some soup for supper and is watching a movie on TV. I am just checking in here before heading to bed.

maribeth , glad you'll be busy for awhile. As long as March isn't too busy -- for Calvinball. kellyr21 , I was reading through these posts last night on my phone while my little artistic dd was looking over my shoulder. When your cards came up, she was like "Woah! Those are so pretty with the gold." I had to concur, that gold really makes the cards pop. So, so Lovely! nylene , so sorry your husband has developed an allergy to walnut. But upon hearing that, I started thinking about whether I could blame dd's all on that and get rid of those 2 large ones in front of the house. lol. I love the shade, I just want flowers up front! lol. I LOVE your "hearts in San Francisco page. You ROCK the silhouette. I thought of you today (your careful stepping on the ice) as everywhere that's been plowed is just ice at our house. The careful stepping didn't save me today as I went to my van. I slipped and then contorted my body in so many different ways to keep from falling that my left side is a bit sore, and I'm counting my blessings that it wasn't on video, because I'm sure it'd win Funniest Video. (shaking my head at myself, but at least with a smile on). scrapincin , we would never accuse you of behaving! Hope you are still doing ok. Maybe you just need more craft time?! Your cards are beautiful. The gatefold is my favorite, but I love the flower work on the other as well. Oh, and YES, I have my old computer back. I was having issues as soon as I got it back and after wiggling the AC cord I haven't had issues since. I'll be replacing that cord soon. So happy to have it back. grammadee , Fantastic school pages. Such cuties! Glad your arm is healing so well. With a very busy Friday and Saturday, I hope you had a chance to relax today. Don took ds to church today, so I cleaned. Why is that a never ending chore? The most exciting thing for me has been that I downloaded the google photo app to my smart phone. It's still uploading all of my phone photos, but it's SO cool. It creates collages, movies, and gifs from your photos. It's been out for over a year, but I'm just now jumping on the bandwagon. Well, I'm off to get ready for bed.

Good Sunday evening, Ladies. Did a couple of easy pages today: large photos, one per page. One project I don't like to get "behind" in is my family calendar, so yesterday I chose which photos I would be using for December and January, and printed them 5x7. Today, I just had to choose which papers, etc I was going to use, and I chose some from my newest goodies and some of my scraps from making Christmas cards. december '18 by Gramma Dee, on Flickr January '18 page by Gramma Dee, on Flickr Tomorrow, I hope to finish sorting the photos, and then decide what stories I want to tell next...
