I don't know about everyone, but one of the women I know who made a lot of hats to pass out at the march, actually dyed the wool herself. So for her, I know she used USA, Pennsylvania made wool yarn. She could very well have dyed the yarn but was it totally processed from sheep to actual yarn to knit with? Again she, in particular, might have used totally manufactured in the US wool but I doubt that most of the others did. The wool used to manufacture everything from clothes to upholstery is exported from China, Australia and other countries outside the U.S. The US is in 11th position as far as world wool production goes and imports more wool that they make. ETA adding that, to be totally US made the sheep that produce it need to be too! Can we apply this same logic to lawmakers? Nothing you do is legitimate unless every fiber of your clothing is of native origin. Oh and animal fibers must have been fed a 100% locally grown diet or it doesn't count. That pandering flag pin better be from American-sourced metals and hand-painted by non-immigrants!

This is only my second post here (though I did post on the old board from time to time) and I just want to preface this by saying I do not mean to disrespect anyone, or disrespect anyone`s view. In fact, I have learned a great deal on this board about US politics and have read most of the political threads with interest (and, I`ll admit it, sometimes scratching my head). From someone looking at this from another country (the Netherlands) it has certainly provided me with some more nuance. We have an election coming up in March which will probably be equally heated and with a record number of participating political parties (I think we`re up to almost 20 now) I`m sure most other countries scratch their head about those silly Dutch. After that disclaimer, I would like to share this message from the Netherlands to President Trump with you. I hope you find it funny. www.youtube.com/watch?v=0mr7TD8Q-AMWelcome! Loved the video, hilarious!

shouldn't he be paying attention to what he's doing instead of tweeting about it all day long? he reminds me of those people I hide on my facebook feed:
going for my afternoon coffee... leaving work, headed to the gym... headed home- whew! great workout!
I don't need to know what people do ALL DAY LONG on a play by play basis, even if it is the POTUS.

Honestly if in 2019 I can say, "holy crap, i'm making a lot more than ever, I have more in the bank and more invested, and I feel safer..." I can't say I wouldn't consider it. I don't see that happening, but since we are discussing it, I think a lot of people, probably even a good number who didn't vote for him this time, if they feel they are safer and are making more money are going to think he's done well.

Shout out to David Morrissey for his excellent take on the current state of the union.
"There's actually a difference between lying and "alternative facts". Lying is saying one thing, when only you know that it's the other. "Alternative facts" (just the wording is so Orwellian, it gives me the willies), is exactly what it sounds like: Presenting - or, God forbid, believing - that a set of circumstances existed, that everyone sane knows did not.
LIE: "I didn't eat the last cookie"
BOLDFACED LIE: "That picture is of me eating the third-last cookie, not the last one."
ALTERNATIVE FACTS: "That time-stamped picture of me eating the last cookie is a fake. You were mistaken when you thought you saw me eat the last cookie while standing right beside you. I did not eat the last cookie."
Don't be fooled into thinking it's the same thing. Alternative facts are literally Doublethink. I have visions of Animal Farm and 1984 running around in my head. This presidency is even more dangerous than I originally thought."
So much this.

Why does he need 2 accounts? Why does he retweet himself? I just find this fascinating in a car wreck kind of way.

BTW: he had to delete that last tweet and redo it - 1st time he spelled it a"amoung" and national security was all lowercase.

How can anyone think these petty tweets are ok or even normal for a 70 year old man.

What martial law? How is that going to fix anything. Suppressing the problem doesn't solve it. It just makes it smolder.
"If Chicago doesn't fix the horrible "carnage" going on, 228 shootings in 2017 with 42 killings (up 24% from 2016), I will send in the Feds!"

I have a view on your Q regarding needing two accounts. In 4 years' time the @potus timeline will be archived as @potus 45 and the handle given over to a new president. So I hope. DT's personal account might just retweet everything from the official account (or vice versa) as a matter of formality or to look busy, or maybe he wishes to cover a small number of followers who may have chosen only one or the other. There may be a few instances where he might tweet personal or more controversial stuff only under his own name. Personally I think his obsession with his numbers is the driver: in the same way as he said he had 45 million followers by adding the figures from Fakebook, Twitter and Instagram together, now he can add the number from the official account and bump them even higher. And the stupid amongst us will lap it up. Last little point- like a previous poster has said, he seems to use Twitter as his personal diary. He will retain control of the archive on his own account after he leaves office and we all know he likes to go back and delete stuff! He won't be able to do this to the @potus45 one after office.

A twitter account called Half an Onion @halfonioninabag tweeted.
"What if this account that is simply half an onion in a Ziploc bag ended up with more followers than @realdonaldtrump?"
The account is getting a lot of followers. And it is pretty funny.

I'm not sure if I heard about it or not, but I started following "the narrated president" on twitter, which re-writes Trump's tweets in a more polite way. This one today just made me laugh (well that laugh/cry...it's funny and sad all at the same time)

Absolutely. And I again wonder if we are going to be able to trust the results of the 2018 elections. I think it's going to be harder to #resist and Vote Them Out!! than we think.

Fast tracking so that no one can keep up without it being a full time job with a staff of 100 or more. Scary what they are doing. Surprise, surprise, EVERY ONE of the 23 co-sponsors is a Republican MALE.

I'm thinking maybe it's time to start going Lysistrata? If a woman doesn't want to be pregnant, can't get BC because of cost or whatever and can't have an abortion, the answer is simple - no sex.
Married but don't want a kid and can't take the risk of getting pregnant? No more sex.
At some point, the number of irate men - conservative and liberal - who are going to be calling their congressmen to end the foolishness will be overwhelming.

I can't remember the last time I ever saw a phone book. It's probably been at least 10 years. However, the point being. Times change. Technology changes. Means of communication changes. 2 of them were delivered to my doorstep this fall. They are still around. Same here. We get new books every year.

His head would explode.

They were very lovingly handmade in most cases. I have several friends and family who spent a great deal of time knitting. So proud of them. But where was the yarn manufactured though is the important question! I think the word is processed, not manufactured. Raw wool needs to be processed at a mill, turned into roving and then yarn. The sheep do the manufacturing part!

ETA adding that, to be totally US made the sheep that produce it need to be too! Um you don't *manufacture* wool. Manufacture the "yarn" for you in the US then. It's quite common to call the end product that one knits with, wool in the UK. I wasn't referring to the actual fleece that is sheered off the sheep. You can't knit with that! Possibly because the "yarn" that we knit with is more than likely to have a high content of wool in it. It's labelled as "wool" or " wool blend" if it's not 100% wool so we refer to it as wool. I thought the first line of my post made it clear that I was referring to the end product: The process from raw fleece to the end product which is the yarn that we knit with She could very well have dyed the yarn but was it totally processed from sheep to actual yarn to knit with?
