So yay! You're ahead of the game - i.e., you woke up and aren't dead Too soon? Cancer sucks. It sucks being overweight (been there, am there) and it sucks being young and going through all this. But you're young, you have a sense of humor and we're all here to support you. Be strong! Be brave! If you can't, we'll be there for you (that's me, cheering you on!!)

Thanks everyone. Was not expecting this news today at all. Just feel so deflated and of course scared again. Not to mention this is my last term of grad school and this is a real setback in time. I'll put on my big girl panties and deal with it, but having a bit of a meltdown pity party today.

Sorry about this setback, but sounds like your Doctors have a plan in place to eliminate the cancer. Hope your second surgery goes well and that treatment is quick and pain free.

Update 2/9 So good news and bad news at my post op today. Voldemort turned out to be benign. But there was a nodule next to him that Dr Nunn took as well. That little nodule tested positive for papillary cancer. Because of the type it was I have to have surgery again next Friday to remove the rest of my thyroid. A few weeks after that they'll have me take a radioactive pill to kill anything that might remain in the surrounding tissue. OP I'm having my thyroid removed tomorrow (cancer) and the anxiety has kicked in. I was 17 last time I had surgery. I was in a lot better shape, weighed a lot less, and was completely invincible. It didn't even phase me. But now I'm mid-30s, overweight, out of shape. So I have concerns. Basically, I just want to wake up and not be dead. My friend had the same surgery. She also had the radioactive pill. Sorry for the bad news but it's highly curable!!

Dang cancer! Best wishes for this next surgery to go smooth! You'll feel so much better after the iodine and getting stabilized on thyroid replacement, but it can time so time to get there.

I'm sorry that you got bad news, but it does sound like a very treatable cancer. Nevertheless, it's more surgery and more time. Prayers for an easy surgery and that you are cancer free right away.
