Less than two hours! I can't even make a doll's blanket in that time.

Less than two hours! I can't even make a doll's blanket in that time. It is only 15 stitches. It just like arm knitting, except I can stop in the middle and do something else.

I knitted this on 2 inch dowels, out of yarn that I made of no pill fleece. Back in the 70's my granny crocheted a shawl using that technique. Back then it was called Broomstick crochet because you used a broomstick handle that had been cut down to size. Mine is of acrylic yarn and the brightest orange available (granny loved loud colors!). It was a favorite of one of my previous cats. I still have it around here somewhere. I'll have to see if I can find it and get a photo.

This "yarn" is much bigger.

Despite being a bit tipsy - DH and I shared a bottle of bubbly this evening - I just had to start my first square for the Nuts about Squares CAL. Three rounds was enough. I'm hoping to finish the first square and at least make start on the second over the weekend; if I don't manage that I think it will be a struggle to keep up (probably will anyway TBH). Really like the yarn so far, lovely and soft, but very different to what I've worked with up to now.

pjaye...I love that hydrangea pattern but didn't see the kit available at Wool Warehouse. I'll have to keep checking. I just started an Easter dress for my granddaughter using I Love This Cotton. I'm hoping to make a little shrug to go over it since it's sleeveless.

I am a little peeved that there are 3 of the same design to do in one week, albeit different colour ways. I don't think I have any chance of getting three large done in any week! I hope to finish the first in the next day or so then get back to the Hygge. The stonewashed is a lovely yarn, isn't it. I easpecially like your central blue, it's a lovely colour. It's a mare to frog though. I can't remember the name of the yarn I'm using but it's the cheapest of the three! I've chosen my own colours but they are very similar to one of the testers. Scheepjes yarn is becoming one of my favourites I think. Is yours a kit or your own choice?

I figured there had to be that many to get 35 done in 12 weeks. As much as I'd like to keep up, I'm not going to worry too much if I don't. I'll be on holiday for one of the weeks so I already know that I'll get behind at that point. It is lovely! I haven't had to frog yet but I did think as I was using it that it could be tricky. Will have to try very hard to make no mistakes, lol. I'm using a kit - the Earth one. I've never used Scheepjes before, am interested to try the Colour Crafter acrylic at some point to see how it compares to Stylecraft Special DK.

I've never used Scheepjes before, am interested to try the Colour Crafter acrylic at some point to see how it compares to Stylecraft Special DK. THAT's the one I'm using! Colour Crafter! It's lovely too. IMHO it's quite similar to Stylecraft Special but feels less synthetic and softer to me so if I were to choose between the two, I'd go for Scheepjes. You are quite right not to get hung up over the time scale. I don't think I had noticed it was a 12 week CAL and assumed it would just be one square a week. Not that that matters really and different colour combinations do give such very different looks to the same design, don't they. I have allotted the letters A-F to my colours and will use them according to the colour chart rather than be influenced by what I might prefer in any given week.

I put these in the photo thread instead of crafts....ooops.... Anyhow I made this for my girlfriend. She will get the quilt inside the tote. The pattern is called Minnesota Hotdish.

CeeScraps - I love the idea of a matching tote with a gift quilt! teri - love the tops. You are such a prolific seamstress/sewist/sewer! Even with the remodeling craziness around here, I did manage to get one small project made. It's a cite lined drawstring bag for my great nephew. I filled it with a bunch of old Hotwheels trucks and cars I discovered while decluttering. Mailed it and can't wait to see if he likes it. ETA: Here is the pattern I used for the bag. It has directions for 8 different sizes. She does have a free tutorial for just one size of bag. There is an additional tutorial on how to add exterior pockets. It's a great project for using up scraps, as well as making reusable gift bags!
