....an hour later, still offline. They have an event off-site today that many of the staff are participating in, so while I'm sure April is being monitored by a staff-person, there may not be anyone there who is familiar with how to re-set the feed. Or it could be an ISP issue. Apparently they're in a fairly rural area that is known to have spotty service. I read on their FB page it is a planned outage.

Temperatures will climb tomorrow and then we are off to a beautiful week! ........... Thank you all that joined us for Spring baby animal photos today at the Oakdale Mall - we will be there again tomorrow! Info in our events listings. This mornings text alert went out quick and smooth to all subscribed numbers! We are comfortable and confident to say we are ready for the Labor Alert! Till then, we will send any fun updates or changes your way! Subscribe: www.aprilthegiraffealert.comThe April in Waiting artistic print series are up in the online store and selling quick! Limited numbers available. We had a second Wallaby Joey pop its head out of the pouch today! Very exciting! Tonight we share a video from Dr Tim's end of visit treat session.

Here's what April thinks of our calendars and predictions of her due date. Hahahaha I loved that picture! The sense of humor they all have about this, is one of the things that makes this entertaining.

He was NOT happy! lol
She's back in now, and her tail was up and I could see "bulging" - her poor giraffe vajayjay - can't even contemplate it.

4/9 Morning Update Allysa and Joel both reported major movement and bulging of the belly, noting the left side - appeared to have a leg, joint, neck or Something sticking out! April consumed all food offered last night and team noted further filling of the front teats. Some changes in manure size last night also. There are many things we look at and document in this process! Yard to time will be granted today as temperatures climb! In addition to last nights wallaby Joey appearances from the pouch, our kangaroo Joey appears to now be peach fuzz covered, and will also soon be poking out! ------- The live cam had some down time yesterday, ready assured our team works quickly to resolve any issues on our end! No reason for concern and the conspiracy theories can remain at the back of your mind. Just a simple outage. ------- The last and final round of plush will hit the online store in the next 12-24 hours. There will be a ship delay due to volume - but what in this process of April watching hasn't been "delayed"? Ha! -------- Text alert subscribers - it took only 28 minutes to hit every single one of you yesterday! This is the fastest text alert to this volume of receivers ever done by our service provided! Everyone is one team April - from keepers to Tech team! Www.aprilthegiraffefalert.com--------- Giraffe Factoid: The beginning Oliver joined us in May 2015 age 3 April joined us September 2015 age 13 First observed breeding behavior was October 2015. This started our counting for when to possibly expect a calf. It is quite obvious conception did not occurs until months later, but it allowed our team to prep, be prepared, and trained appropriately for the big moment.

It's nice that the weather is decent and they're getting so much yard time now. Can't wait to see the yard cam feeds once they are up.

I think April just went outside! And Oliver is NOT happy about it. LOL he was not happy at all. That was really funny, poor dude. He should know by now, that he gets his turn second. It was nice to see her go outside for even a little bit. She's been preferring to stay in the barn mostly, which if I had a 150lb calf inside of me, I might prefer that too!

Moms will get very "Pacey" before and during birth....we will see if it is any indication as to what is to come. All else is well. April enjoyed yard time today! We have opened her door for weeks and she has only stood in the doorway; but today! - of all days! - she ventured out! Tonight's photo is of that time outside and tomorrow we will send more exclusive content to our text subscribers - of today and tomorrows escapades! If you haven't subscribed yet we encourage it! it is a Labor alert and Baby Update opportunity! www.aprilthegiraffealert.comThe week promises warmer temperatures and a full moon is upon us! I hope that will shake things up! ------- Plush will hit the online store this evening or early morning! This is likely our last round of plush! Also the art prints are up! Why have we been watching the giraffe for so long anyway? I mean, who started us off with the wrong information about the due date? It's more than just not knowing exactly when a giraffe is due, because back when we started watching the announcement was that she was having her baby soon. Clearly that was intentional to mislead us (to drive up traffic to the zoo's site?) or it was some random internet troll with too much time on his/her hands... Anyone know?

I (emphasis on I) think it was a new york news station that stated something about April having the baby very soon. Intentional or not by the zoo, I have no idea. Could be those alternate facts making it's way to the media. Damn unreliable media lol.

They started predicting from the first possible date but obviously that wasn't when she actually conceived.

I've been watching since almost the beginning, and they (the park) never said anything about her being due right then. The You Tube channel was mostly started for local people who were interested in the parks first giraffe park birth. I believe the 60 day window on either side was mentioned early. But they have never given a date or anything like that, that I've ever seen. When things go viral they tend to have a life of their own, though.

Exactly. The Park has been very forthright, albeit optimistic, about what's happening with Apriland the calf. It's going to be a sight, one of these days, checking and seeing a baby giraffe wobbling around!

4/10 Morning Update Early morning observations indicate no significant changes in physical appearance. As stated in posts prior - we do not expect any further physical change. We are waiting for increased pacing to indicate an active labor situation has begun, in addition to pushing/contractions. So, be watchful of behavioral changes! Giraffes will have a beautiful day in the yard with 70 Degree temperatures on the horizon! We will capture some great shots of Oliver and April outdoors, along with staff and share those with you late day today thru the text subscription service. If you haven't yet, it is easy to subscribe and you haven't missed content - you will be able to view prior shared photos! We believe we may have VIDEO content available to text subscribers also! www.Aprilthegiraffealert.comGiraffe Factoid: There has been Giraffe (Zarafa) Hysteria Before In 1827 the first giraffe ever seen in France, became an instant celebrity in Paris. Michael Allin in Zarafa chronicles her impact on the French: "Zarafamania gripped Paris and crowds rioted around her as she was paraded through the city and presented to the king. Women imitated her with their hair styles high, a la Girafe, and the men wore fashionably giraffique hats and ties. In the magazine of the day there were instructions for tying a gentleman's cravat a la Girafe."

She was outside for quite a while, today. I'm hoping that kicks things into gear for her. She had a huge contraction looking thing a few minutes ago. I swear could almost feel the poor thing pushing through the screen. I really hope that calf is ready soon. For her sake mostly, lol.

She was sassy today. This morning they cleaned out hers and Olivers sections completely while they were each outside. She was standing at the door watching them finish up, putting down the new floor. They get done and she walks in there, and while they were just going out, does crap in the middle of the floor. LOL you couldn't hear what was said to her, but you could see the "really?" expression on the faces. LOL.

I checked in earlier this evening and swore I saw little hooves emerging...and then realized she was having a BM. That is when I realized I am spending much too much time staring at April's tush.
