I have RA in my shoulders. Cold AC blowing on them is sheer torture. I hate this style. It's disappointing to pick up a cute top and find it has the open shoulders.

The Bay here won't even call them "cold shoulder" tops. They call them open-shoulder tops or what have you. Do they think cold shoulder sounds too mean? I mean we know what they are called already. i had to click on the thread to see what the term cold shoulder top means! yes, i see them referred to open shoulder or cut out shoulder tops. i have slim shoulders that are probably one of my better features so i like them, some styles more than others. but i don't buy a lot of clothes so i technically don't have any. i *do* have loose neck t-shirts that fall off one shoulder but might keep an eye out for something in this style for the spring. thanks for the thread!

Its terrible and frankly it makes me irate when i see a sweater from far away and when i get up close i realize it doesn't have any shoulders.

I'm almost 50 and wear them gasp! I think it's one of the better ways to show off a little skin 😉

I don't mind them on others, but I find them unflattering on me.

I don't have any but I don't mind a regular cold shoulder top. I just don't get the point of a cold shoulder sweater. If it's cold enough to wear a sweater, why the heck would you want your shoulders exposed?

I don't like the way it looks on me, but I am in favor of people to wear what they like for them.

I don't like them for me because I have broad shoulders, so why point them out even more, but I do think some are really cute.

![](http://i1168.photobucket.com/albums/r481/2peasrefugees/Smilies/drool.jpg.gif) Sorry - I'm having trouble focusing on Gina's cold shoulders - her arm candy is too distracting. Yeah totally! LOL Gina, you look great in them. I do like them, but not on me. I bought one last year and gave it to my daughter after wearing it once. It looks MUCH better on her.

I have a few tees with open shoulders (thought not as dramatic as the pics in the op) more than 5 years ago. Sometimes I wear them underneath something else but didn't realize the open shoulder was still "in". I would possibly buy a shirt with the cold shoulder if I liked it but not several items.

I think they look great on some people, like @gina. I haven't bought any because my shoulders are a couple shades lighter than my forearms and I don't want to draw attention to that.

ETA: Not sure why there is such an influx of these tops now. I don't think the trend is new. I have had them in my closet for YEARS. Case in point (I am full of photo evidence tonight!) This pic was taken in December 2013 and I certainly did not craft this lovely shirt myself. haha Ok, me and my cold shoulders are out of here! SaveSaveSaveSaveSaveSaveThis magenta one is so pretty!! I love the ones that have slits like that. lovely couple, too!!!

It's not as bad as some of the ones that you pull the "sleeves" all the way down and expose all of your shoulders, collarbones, etc (the name of the style escapes me at the moment) I don't like it because of how it makes the breast area look--even small boobs with no bra can be unflattering! Well, that's basically what I wore for an evening out with friends Friday night. It wasn't completely off the shoulder, but rather rode right on the top edge of the shoulder. I have smaller boobs, did wear a bra, and got lots of compliments on my outfit thank you very much. Lol! Sorry, did not mean to offend YOU--those I've seen it on here, in person, not so much flattering! Maybe it was that you wore a bra, he he he!!! ❤😬❤😬

I don't like it, and it's VERY hard to find any shirts that DON'T have them, right now. I went to WHBM this weekend, and at least 75% of the shirts there had them.
I look silly in most of them (I actually own 2 that look decent).

I'm not a fan of that style, but I agree with the others who enjoy seeing people wear what makes them happy.

I opened this thread because I wasn't sure why or how "giving" someone the cold shoulder was a trend. I see now we are talking fashion so I am no help. Thanks goes to gina (who looked great in all of her examples) for the visual because I would have known what was being discussed. My only input is I have seen some that I like and some I don't. ETA: I am a big proponent of wearing what you like

I look like I'm smuggling hams when I wear the cold shoulder stuff. The off the shoulder is better, but that open part just does NOT flatter me.

I've never heard that nomenclature, but have seen the trend. They aren't my favorite, but I agree, wear what makes you happy.

Not a fan, and I have good shoulders and could pull it off.
My first thoughts when I saw this look was did they run out of fabric and litterally cut corners? Or did someone make a mistake in cutting the fabric?

I I looked like gina I wouldn't care what the haters think! You look great, Gina! But they are not for me. I've seen a few people who they look good on, but I don't think they are for everyone, like say a wrap dress looks good on most people.

I've made several styles so far this year I love when you share photos of the clothes you've made. I stand in awe of your talent. I just taught myself to sew about 4 years ago. I still cannot sew a button or put in a zipper, but I can sew some stretchy knits. I'm currently testing a cute tshirt pattern for Patterns for Pirates. I can't show it yet because we are still testing the fit, but it's super comfy and cute.
