It is stupid and is not flattering on anyone but if it is "in style" most women will wear it. That's pretty harsh considering we have examples on this thread of actual peas wearing the style and looking cute doing so.

I don't like holes in jeans either but a lot of people do. You are correct, I was harsh. ETA: I like off the shoulder just not big holes in the shoulder.

Some look really cute - on the right person. Some have big cutouts and where the fabric starts up again below the cutouts it kind of makes a big horizontal line of fabric, and if that hits right across the boobs it would just make large boobs look even bigger, which I don't think is a good look.
I tend to like my shoulders covered, so I have never tried on a top like these shown. Just not "me."

Most people I see wearing it probably should not be. I think some of them are cute, but I'm in the group of people that probably shouldn't be wearing one. The ones I've seen in person, the "strap" is too thin and my bra would show (and I don't care for that look)... and I'm too big to go without a bra!

I didn't know it was a trend. I've seen this style for several years. It doesn't bother me. I also didn't know it was called cold shoulder too, so....

For me, I'm not a fan. And a lot of people I see wearing them I don't think it's all that flattering. But for someone who has sculpted arms and shoulders, I think they look fantastic! gina , I was totally thinking of you when I read the OP. I thought, "Gina always looks gorgeous in them!"

My only issues with it are 1.) I sunburn really easily and would forget to put sunscreen on my shoulders, drive somewhere with the top down on my car, and end up in a world of hurt. 2.) I have long hair and unless I wear it back or up, it'd cover my shoulders anyway, so what's the point? Other than that, I'm neutral on them and would wear one if the rest of the top was to my liking.
And as an aside... I'm 5'10" and a size 3/4X. If I only wore clothes that were considered "flattering" for my body type according to mainstream fashion sensibilities, I might as well lie down and rot. Like my late 5'4" 500 pound fashionista friend once said "Honey, they're gonna stare anyway, I might as well give 'em something to really stare at".

I opened this thread to figure out what a cold shoulder trend was. Never suspected it was a clothing trend. I like the sleeve slit ones and maybe some of the others would be ok on me if the cut was right. I've never liked the off the shoulder look for me.

I think they are cute and wish I could wear them. I just don't have shoulders that I want to show off!

I caught the tail-end of Wheel of Fortune last night, and Vanna had on a black gown with cut-out shoulders. She asked Pat if he knew the name of that type of gown, he didn't, we all do. Mere coincidence?

I don't love the cold shoulder trend but I am enjoying the off the shoulder trend. I have a chemo port (with scare not healed) and breast expanders. I'm pretty sensitive about finding tops that don't expose my cancer scars. Amazingly I have found several off the shoulder tops that work! I needed a formal dress for an event and I was worrying about how to look great and conceal all my issues -- and a lovely form fitted off the shoulder dress works perfectly! It has extra fabric that flows over the breast area so I don't really need a bra and makes my breast area look normal!! Some off the shoulder tops are too low and reveal my port, so it just really depends on the shirt.
But finally something I can look on trend except for button up shirts or a higher necked t shirt.

I'm not a fashion " in trend" icon but I like them, not totally off the shoulder though. I like the magenta type that gina is wearing. I have four in a similar style.

My DH bought me a couple for Christmas. 2 of them have bodices that are wrap style, and the hole over the shoulder is more of a slit. I like those very well. (they are sparkly, too, which I love)
He also bought me a sweater with big round CIRCULAR holes just under the shoulder bone lines. I HATE IT. In fact, I told him "it has a hole in it! Why would I wear that?" He likes it, so I do wear it, but not often. it's just not flattering.

When people are saying that they don't have the shoulders for this style, what does that mean? Are you referring to shirts that have a huge slit? I see some that are really big and open and others that aren't. I'm having hard time understanding how someone has "bad shoulders".

I think they are cute and have been looking for a flowy floral one for our upcoming cruise. I also like the off shoulder shirts and bought one for our trip. I don't have the nicest arms but my shoulders are ok.

I just did a Pinterest search and see that the style has changed slightly. The shorts I had seen previously had slits in the shoulders, as opposed to the ones now that have the whole shoulder open.

I bought two of these style shirts last summer and didn't see many people wearing them. I thought I loved them until I now see sooo many tv people wearing them this year that look awful !!! If these "perfect" people look awful, I can only imagine what I look like 😮 I've already passed them on to Goodwill.

I've noticed this change as well I don't mind the slit but wouldn't wear the big shoulder opening at all.

I generally don't buy trendy clothing because I don't enjoy shopping for clothes and want my clothes to last a bunch of seasons, so I developed a look circa 1996 . I have seen people wearing those shirts and think they are cute.

My son's girlfriend was visiting last week and we went to the casino to meet friends for dinner. She wore one that looked awesome on her, but all I could think was how cold I would be! They keep the casino so cold I have to wear a light jacket every time we go. I wouldn't feel comfortable in one. My shoulders have so many freckles from way too much sun when I was younger, that now I am very self conscious of them. I only wear tank tops at home for the same reason.

I don't care what they look like - you're all carrying them off beautifully. But firstly I get cold, and secondly I don't like things round my wrists.
