If you were to really examine the reasons why you "don't care" for Oprah where would the dislike stem from though? I would love for everyone who hates Oprah to write one simple emotionless reason why. Try it. Beyonce doesn't have any behaviors that would set her apart from any other celebrities. Yet you'd think she was the only one by reading here. No vain celebrity before her. Start a thread about professional tennis and you'd get the same thing. When Tiger Woods won the Masters they tried to bring him down to size with the collard green and watermelon jokes. Why? White people don't like to see black people dominate things. Simone Biles just got called "trash" and told she wasn't a good role model for excessive vacationing. Why? White people think we should work like dogs and aren't comfortable with black joy. Really? I am a white person and I think the Williams sisters are awesome and have done great things for tennis, despite not being treated very well at times by the tennis community. Other than one Serena meltdown for which she was appropriately sanctioned, I think they have comported themselves with grace and dignity. It troubles me that you often accuse us of making generalizations, yet you do the same. I like Oprah, I hate Beyoncé's music, but I also hate country music. I hate Beyoncé's photo because I'm a photographer, and I want to see the babies against a backdrop that doesn't compete with their fresh beauty. Yes, the world is full of racist assholes, but it really sucks to be lumped in with them because of my skin color. I agree.
I'm not a fan of Beyoncé because I don't have respect for those folks who sell their dignity for the sake of fame. I couldn't care less about the color of her skin. I feel the same way about Britney Spears, Lindsey Lohan, Paris Hilton and on and on.
I'm not a fan of Tiger Woods because he's an addicted ******* who completely disavowed his wife and children and made a mockery of his talent. Feel the same way about Tonya Harding (although I don't think she had children at the time).
There was just a thread here the other day about Andy Murray interrupting a reporter on live TV to give cred to the Williams sisters. Perhaps I missed the racist comments on that one.
I'm not real sure who Simone Biles is - maybe a gymnast?
At any rate, I was raised to be much more interested in the person's inside than their outside. It makes no difference to me if a person is black or white or brown or red or green or orange or tye-dyed. I do realize that's not the case with everyone. But if you don't mind, could you please take me off of that list? Thanks.

How do you trademark a child's name? Why would you trademark a child's name? Imagine down the road when these kids have kids and all the paperwork they're gonna have to file to pass on their names to future generations.

I don't know Beyonce any more than any of you do. But I loathe our culture of celebrity worship. I dislike her music. I think it's hilarious that she's credited as a brilliant artist when she's got a list of producers a mile long for every one of her songs. She doesn't write her songs, and she doesn't play any instruments. I think it's ridiculous that she, and ANY celebrity, are considered important enough to be talked about on the news. But, according to some of you, my opinion isn't valid. I must be racist and misogynist because I dislike Beyonce. And, with that, I have spent way more of my time discussing this person than I ever cared to. It's hilarious how many people are convinced that Beyonce is kind and humble or awful and shallow, when the truth is that none of us know her. This is all speculation and I'd much rather spend my time worrying about shit that actually impacts my life. I've always said that people worshiping people never ends well, for either side.

if I am understanding this correctly - every white person is responsible for every awful thing that has been done by another white person. So, does this mean that you are resonnsible for every awful thing a black person has done.
You need to let people be better and do better.

Damnit. Now I guess I have to throw out my Beyonce CD's and forget every Oprah show or movie I've ever watched all because of this stupid photo. All this time I thought I could skate by but Nooo..... I don't have the approved skin color for that. Thanks a lot peas. crimsoncat05 - I'm so glad I'm not the only one to think "Our Lady of Guadalupe".

I've just got in from work and am wondering how on earth a picture of a pop singer with her babies has reached five pages and now I know. SMH.
As for the men some of you are lusting over, I've no idea who any of them are. Should I? Am I missing out?

I'm white and native american. Do I get to be the oppressor and the oppressed on every post? If I throw in my maiden name can I claim oppression cause it's hispanic and people infer things from its origins?
Or do we judge people by their actions as opposed the actions of anyone and everyone with their general skin tone (as long as it's on the white end of the spectrum)?

White people dont want to be judged by their ancestors actions but are rolling around in plantation money. How? Our third president raped an enslaved black woman and considered their offspring property. Before that was forced migration or colonization here someone calls colonization cultural appropriation. Klux Klan visited Charlottesville,VA with police escort last weekend. I am comfortable judging people by their actions but it would be foolish to expect anything different from your abusers when they continue to abuse you at every turn. Look at this country. If you are comfortable with how things are by all means cross em at your ankles. Just stop wagging your finger at me because I am pointing out things as I see them. And dare I say as they are. When did black people stop being judged by their skin tone?

So if we turn the tables here and make the same type of blanket assumptions, we could say that all people with dark skin are no-good druggies that live in the projects and have 50 kids.
Ridiculously untrue & insulting, right?
Sure, there are some people that fall into both categories. Not arguing that. But making such broad & sweeping assumptions on BOTH sides is entirely ridiculous.
And just FTR even though I don't care for Beyonce, she's got more money in her smallest pocketbook than I will ever see in my lifetime. And I'm perfectly fine with that.

But the short answer is a lot of white people do make sweeping assumptions about black people. That's why NJ is about to prosecute the biggest welfare fraud in recent history. Society has been lied to about who black people really are as a means to justify our mistreatment. Also are we suggesting that black people aren't judged on their skin tone anymore? This would be new information to me

Olan do you really think that any white person who doesn't like Oprah feels like that?^^^^^^^^ That has zero, zilch, nada, nothing to do with my dislike of Oprah-- her self-centeredness on her show and magazine really since I don't know her. I celebrate a black person's achievements- especially mega achievements like Oprah. Those should happen much more frequently than they do!

Well, considering that when the US was being created my ancestors were losing their land and during the civil war the other half were living in Germany, soon to move to Russia to take over working the land for a better life (which never really came and why they came to the US at the turn of the century). But I'm supposed to apologize for every white man who lived in the US because I'm white that's all it takes to be complicit in the institution of slavery? Slavery which has existed in the world since society began and tribes formed and has been practiced by people of ALL races? And is still practiced today in some societies?

Beyonce doesn't have any behaviors that would set her apart from any other celebrities. Yet you'd think she was the only one by reading here. To me there is a lack of logic in this particualr sentence. Of course this thread is going to include complaints against Beyonce's behavior instead of another celebrity's behavior because this thread is about Beyonce. If this thread was about Madonna, then there would be people who would be griping about Madonna. If this thread was about Britney Spears then people would be taking shots at her. If this thread was about Eminem, or Michael Jackson, or the Queen of England or the Pope, people who disliked anything about any of those people would be airing their complaints. And we have seen threads about all of those people in the past, complete with declarations of how much some Peas don't like those celebrities. And my gosh, if you really want to see the Peas go nuts---start a thread about a scrapbook celebrity! No celebrity is ever safe here from unkind judgmental uninformed comments, no matter what. Yes, and definitely including brand new moms and their newborns. I can recall threads full of negativity towards Gwyneth Paltrow when she had her kids, in particular over the names she chose. I recall specifically because I didn't understand why it was okay to name your kid after a tree or a flower or a body of water, but not a fruit. And I recall pointing out that I went to school with a "Moses" and didn't think of it as some sort of bizarre "celebrity baby name" at all. Celebrity babies are big news, and people love to discuss those kids. (Heck, Suri Cruise had her "own" fake blog for a long time. And for what purpose? To talk about other celebrity kids!) And reacting to the kids' names is a pretty popular past time for people who enjoy celebrity talk/gossip. Save

I would think that for as much money as they have, they could hire someone to make a "real" portrait. This looks like someone who didn't have a clue what they were doing tried to set it up themselves and take it with a cell phone. *photo tech snob here, sorry* I can't help but to think that they have absolutely stunning portraits that they are keeping all to themselves, and purposely opted to do something very memorable for the public photos. If I were a celebrity, I think I'd want to have some gorgeous photo shoots done and I wouldn't share a single one of them. Save

America doesn't want to say sorry. The peas told me so in another thread of mine. So no worries about apologizing for white men. You just keep reaping the rewards sister *thumbs up*. You could also save your apologies until after 45's impeachment. That's a modern day instance of white women falling in line with systemic (I love this autocorrect) racism. And you are wrong. Do you know what made Chattle slavery different from all the rest? Anyone? Does anyone know if any other group of people used the word of God as a way to enslave another group of people? Has that been studied?

I don't like Beyonce, period. I think threads like this seriously cement my dislike of her more though, that's for sure. Harumph.. He cheated once on that one girl when he was much younger, but look at him now, he's been married happily and settled down with a nice, attractive, but very real looking regular gal. I love him. You don't have to, but I do. He was my teen crush. Him and Kirk Cameron. I don't like the name Sir. Rumi doesn't bother me. My first thought was Bruce Willis and Demi Moore's daughter Rumer Willis. The photo is weird. I'd prefer to see the babies closer. I don't understand the whole theme of the photo and the pregnancy one as well. I'm not much of a music person and have no opinion of what she's done or the awards she has won. I scan the radio stations and stop when I hear something I like. To each their own.
