SO, to jump on the 'wellthy isn't a word' train....
Yep. Thats a made up word. Which is fine. BUT to put it freaking everywhere? *eyeroll* Nah. It makes it look like Ali and scrapbookers don't know how to spell. Which may have some truth to it but do we need to publicly announce that literally everywhere?
Is the lady entitled to pick and make up her own word? Yep. But IMHO she is trying too hard to be unique and trendy. But to each their own. I don't think Webster will be calling her anytime though to add it to their dictionary.

For anyone in Canada that gets any of Ali's subs... do have to pay customs on them? Everything I've ordered from the US in the last couple of months I have to pay customs on... I'm interested in her new sub, but not if I'm going to be hit with extra fees every month....

Maybe she wanted a unique OLW that no one had ever used before and that no one else would ever use in the future? Mission accomplished but there's original and then there's just plain dumb.

Maybe she wanted a unique OLW that no one had ever used before and that no one else would ever use in the future? Well you’re right about that...no one will ever use it because it’s not even a word. This whole “unique word” for OLW is bullshit. I’ve seen people pick words that they’ve probably never heard in their life, they only found it through google. Like people of non-danish origin picking Hygge. I was going to use better, but I want to be a cool kid, so I’m going to chose a new unique word because I want to be super trendy. Yep, and good grief, if this won't be an excuse for them for misspellings in the future...they'll say that they're just being trendy now.

I've been subbed since May and haven't paid customs yet - her monthly kits come in a padded envelope, FYI. I just received the OLW kit and 2 6x8 albums - packed in a fairly large box - and didn't have to pay customs on that either. That doesn't mean I never will, but so far I've had a pretty good track record with her stuff coming through. I'm in Ontario. SaveSave

yeah lol I almost chose hygge this year, but ended up choosing home because of the long list of diy projects I have to do before I can even consider hygge for a word I googled wellthy and found a company name for a health organization lol. Whenever I see hygge, I start humming, "gettin' hygge with it. na na nah nana na naa"

Whenever I see hygge, I start humming, " gettin' hygge with it. na na nah nana na naa" That was literally on one of my PL cards for December last year. I don't want to be too harsh on the lady who went with the unnecessary 'wellthy' pleonastic neologism. It hurts my eyes but whatever motivates her to focus on an important aspect of her life... I prefer to let live in this particular case although I understand the general annoyance expressed in the previous posts. It shouldn't have been used to promote OLW so much. That was the mistake here. And I'm guessing Mrs Wellthy is not to blame for this. On the other hand, it will probably push a few OLWers over the edge to purchase their own custom word from Ali. We represent the other edge of the sword though. We're clearly word fanatics who have been wronged one too many times by the did-not-spell-check policy at AE (and Inked in general). Off the current topic but I was very surprised Ali hasn't used 'move' for a Story kit yet. Did I miss it in the list of past Story kits or something? How very odd. She's promoting life changes, including physical ones, and even has lifestyle gear in her shop now but nothing about such a straightforward and versatile word as 'move'? Moving physically, moving on psychologically/emotionally, being on the move, being moved by, moving heaven and earth, etc.

I had to google it myself when I first saw it. It is a danish word and the closest translating word in English is cozy. There is a whole hygge movement and it is pretty much about making your house cozy, spending time w/ the people you love and simplifying life, seeing the joy in just being together. I personally think it was so the Danish did not kill eachother being cooped up all winter together in the horrible weather lol jk!

Erm, is this a quote by former conservative British Prime Minister David Cameron or a different David Cameron?

I just noticed Ali has updated the full list for 2018 Story Kits and Stamps. Really excited about 2018’s words. I was disappointed in some of the kits this year but both November and December have been winners to me. Hopefully, the trend will continue. JaneB is this the list you mentioned you were looking for in the OLW thread?

Not sure how I feel about Ali using quotes from politicians she knows nothing about As a Brit, it leaves a sour taste in my mouth. I wouldn’t quote an American politician I knew nothing about so why is she quoting ours?

I wouldn’t quote an American politician I knew nothing about so why is she quoting ours? He was the PM, not just a minor MP or local politician. By your logic, I could never quote Margaret Thatcher or Winston Churchill because I am not British. It would be like you quoting Barack Obama or Ronald Reagan - not offensive to me as an American, especially if it was a quote about a holiday and not a political issue.

I mean is this Cameron a controversial figure in England? I didn't see your post when I posted! I think Cameron was somewhat controversial, mainly due to getting the UK involved militarily in the war on terror. I also think he was more conservative than some people liked. Probably not the best person to quote, but it was a quote about Christmas, not politics.

I am not offended when non Americans quote Americans. If someone posted something I liked, I would use it. If I found the quote itself offensive, I would not. Someone's in depth understanding about every facet of someone is not necessary to like or not like something they say.

But as someone who has had to deal with the shit that is British politics, David Cameron isn’t someone I’d quote. But yeah she might be his biggest fan and know all about him, I have no idea. My post was a flippant remark as a Brit whos shocked to find David Cameron quoted by an American scrapbooker lol.
