I got the email with a nice picture of Ali and a play button to hear it directly from her. But it just goes to the generic AE landing page, no video from Ali. 🙄 Also, turns out story kit subs automatically roll over to the new sub. Quarterly Scrapbook subs have to sign up. Made the decision for me! Plus, I'm balking at the $50 price. I still have my old scrapbook kits I have't even put a dent in. And finally, if I've learned nothing else, everything goes on sale eventually. I wanted those frame stamps so bad and they sold out. Then they restocked and I couldn't convince myself they were worth $30. I ended up getting it on sale recently for $10. 🤷♀️ Woah $50? was that in the email? I wonder when they are going to communicate to everybody.. odd timing with the DD launch. $50 seems like quite a price jump, especially for a subscription committing sight unseen. I wonder if the change is also in light of how they are already releasing more shop item (non-sub) collections throughout the year like pieces of joy, travel, halloween etc. and want to do more of that type of product release. I'm still surprised though as the subs seemed like a strong customer base and the quarterly scrapbook (+ olw mini) kits don't seem as popular. maybe they are though. end of an era!

They did communicate, or assumed they did in an appropriate manner. It was in the video for sure. I never like the way Inked handles this kind of thing. They just assume everyone pays rapt attention to announcements. I did start a conversation asking to continue my story kit subscription through the end of the year but making it clear I did NOT want the quarterly subscription. We will see what they say.

FYI, if you are a story kit subscriber and do not want the new quarterly kit, you can start a conversation and tell them not to extend your story kit subscription past December.

I loooove the Halloween kit and die cuts. Seems like a very full kit. I will be buying it. Wish it had some purple but oh well. I hope she eventually expands the Halloween offerings to include an album (purple linen would be amazing!) and a spooky sweatshirt.

LOVE the Halloween kit.
I'll definitely be getting it again this year. I've used so much of it the last times I've gotten it.

It was a really good kit. I won’t get it because I bought the last two and didn’t use much from the first and nothing from the second I think? That said, depending on the price of that extra die cut pack I might get that! That thing was huge and would satisfy me to not miss out and get some cuteness. I mean since it’s an add on to my SBTM kit it’s basically free, right? 🤣

I also thought it was interesting the kit had a very nice October Calendar for October daily. Why on earth do they not include one in the DD main kit??? I order some Elle’s Studio every year just for that.

I LOVED the Halloween kit!! I’m not sure if I’ll order it, or not. I haven’t ordered any of her Halloween kits yet, even though I’ve loved them all. I like Halloween products, but I always spend so much on Christmas products that I end up passing on the Fall and Halloween products.

I don’t usually get squealing excited about kit components… but I am totally on board with squealing over the vellum ghosts!
I think I will get it. Still haven’t opened the cello on the last Halloween kit, I think that was 2022… but I actually really love this one and they look like they’ll play nicely together. Someday I may want to make a Halloween album lol

I loved this kit and I sure wish they would make a Halloween album! I too loved the Calendar and hope they consider doing one for the December Daily next year (RIP I miss Marie Lottermoser yearly calendar) and I also loved the touch of silver.

I have been creating and sharing a digital download one the past few years via Ali Edwards! In the past it has been in prep day, but last year it was free on the blog + this year will be the same. Stay tuned

I will definitely pick up the Halloween kit and the die-cuts. The ghosts are adorable! We are going to host a Halloween-themed party this year and I hope to take a ton of photos. I purchased the Gus the Ghost drinking glasses from Pottery Barn and I cannot wait to get them! I will also pick up a few more Halloween decorations before the end of October. The scrapbook.com bats dies are super cute and I want to make a full wall of bats this year behind our dining room table.

I order some Elle’s Studio every year just for that. I've done 9 years of DD and have used a calendar once. Maybe because some people only do 25 stories? I don't really know to be honest, just guesses. You can usually find pretty ones for free online.

I am OK with $50 price if we get a good mix. We were paying like $25 a month and now it's $50 a quarter so I'll be spending $25 less a quarter.
She said it's a mix of story kit and scrapbook and that means bigger papers than what we get today so we will see.

Super cute! The PB glasses are adorable, too. So fun that you're throwing a party - what a great reason to buy the Halloween kit, it's a great kit

Whoa, just remembered that AE is doing her DITL this Wednesday September 18? Anyone playing along?
I love DITL! I generally write that on a card and prop on my keyboard so I remember first thing in the am. I document chronolog. I try to remember to take a pic every hour and jot down at least one observation every hour. It's usually a quick and fun layout. I work the early shift on Wednesday so I'll have a great 4 am wakeup face photo!!

I was super inspired by her blog post today. I think I'll try it one day this week.
I looked at the products and they are sold out. I guess they came out a while ago. I'm not that into them so I'll also skip the digitals.
I have a time stamp and I think I'll do something like she posted where it's just a collage of photos with the time stamp. I'll add it using label stickers. I'll make an insert for Project life. I have some page protectors that are 12X12 with four rows of 3X3 boxes. I'll cut off the last row so it will be 6X12 in my 9X12 album. 16 squares total so room for some embellishments. I probably won't need more pics than that.

I just watched her video on Youtube and she just makes it seem so doable! I have yet to do one of these because I start out strong then peter out by the afternoon and never finish one. How do you all make it work if you're like me? Or have you ever made it work?

I just watched her video on Youtube and she just makes it seem so doable! I have yet to do one of these because I start out strong then peter out by the afternoon and never finish one. How do you all make it work if you're like me? Or have you ever made it work? Set alarms several times throughout the day to remind you to take photos. I tend to time mine when I know I will be doing the thing that corresponds to the card. I'll have a 7:45 AM alarm reminding me to take a photo of what I'm wearing. 8:30 pm alarm to pick up my kid from her job. A little pre-planning helps. I'm following the 8 cards from the kit and will take a photo and write a bit of journaling for each. I don't do DITL every year. When she's done it in the spring I tend to skip it because it's too repetitive from WITL. It just so happens this year there is quite a bit that has changed since Aprils WITL. I also keep a stack of 6x8 Story Albums now, in the past I did not. I used to put it in a stand alone album, I'm personally not a big fan of putting it my PL album.

I usually just put mine in my PL but I kind of like the idea of putting them in a 6x8 album until it’s full. Hmmm have to think about that. Is it worth taking them out of my PL?

I just watched her video on Youtube and she just makes it seem so doable! I have yet to do one of these because I start out strong then peter out by the afternoon and never finish one. How do you all make it work if you're like me? Or have you ever made it work? DITL is significantly easier to keep up with than WITL, in my opinion. The best you can do is prep mentally, make sure you have your camera on you at all times (even if it's just your phone) and work in a morning/lunch/afternoon/dinner/evening mindset to capture the different stories. Don't forget to focus on the day through the lens of current events (politics - like the madness of the US presidential elections right now), season (fruit + veg in season, nature around you, clothing, etc.) and chapter of your life (kids in school, empty-nesting, pets, taking care of aging parents, etc.). Make sure you include technology such as screenshots of text messages + package deliveries of the day + podcast/music app, currently streaming, photo of your phone/laptop, etc. If you have multiple people in your household, make each of them contribute an anecdote. Take pictures from their perspective as well (overhead shot of kids doing their homework at the table, the place where your pet naps the most right now, spouse leaving the car when they get home from work and so on). Include present-day markers that you will make you feel nostalgic a decade or two down the line: photo of your kitchen cupboard (packaging of everyday products like the cereal your kids prefer in the morning), postal stamps if you get something in the mail (even if it's something silly), front page of national + local newspapers, cost of life right now list (groceries, petrol/gas, electricity, mortgage/monthly car payment/tuition), photos of the neighbourhood (shops, little library, a shot of your own home including the neighbhours' homes, etc.), what's-in-my-bag, etc. I love DITL for doing a very aesthetic project, focusing on photography. It's a bit intense but far easier to finish than WITL.

It's been a while since I've done a DITL. I think I might need to remedy that. If / when I am to do it again, I will probably keep it simple and use something like a polaroid frame template in Photoshop to add my photo and a little bit of journalling underneath. Pop them all into a pocket page with some filler cards in between and then put the whole thing into my PL album. Agree with what others have said about it being a far more manageable project that WITL. Although I loved the last WITL that I documented - I used a travellers notebook and it was very formulaic which made it so easy to bring together. Here's a little flip-through video of it if it's of any interest: youtu.be/UCC-DaBxWv0?si=RrYrvA9GR9FAPyEK

sleepingbooty - Thank you! That is exactly what I wanted to see, a list of things I should keep an eye out for. I've tried in the past to take a photo at each hour but it didn't work for me the way I was hoping. missbellejane - Love your video! While I don't think I'll do a WITL, I love how yours turned out. I bought a bunch of those TN's from that lady a few years ago and haven't used them yet either.

I loved your video, too, missbellejane! I love that you followed a formula and kept your project meaningful. I am not skilled at using Traveler's Notebooks yet, but I am playing with one for a short trip I just took to the mountains with my husband. Just like you, I am concerned about it getting too chunky. I am using a TN from Cocoa Daisy that I've had for years. I may pull out some of the pages in the middle to make it less bulky.
