I got the error message as I hit "submit" but also got the confirmation email 2 seconds later. I liked knowing ahead of time what was available, even though I didn't see the black/gold cards before now. But I don't like dark cards like that so I only glanced at them quickly and decided against them.

I’m not a fan of the, “grab it before it’s gone,” it takes the fun out of shopping but I’m excited for new product to play with!

Nothing is sold out yet...I actually think I might buy the digital kit and do hybrid this year for WITL.

So, has anyone here decided on 3x8 this year? I wanted it--I probably wouldn't have used it for WITL-- but I can't bring myself to pull the trigger.

I couldn't pull the trigger and buy the 3x8 album. Just felt too expensive. My plan is to create a 3x8 album for my summer vacation, and given that we will be travelling around, its going to get battered, so I would be better making my own cover from chipboard and fabric.

The more I stare at the old WITL products, the more I’m sure I have the 2016 one somewhere in my house, unused. I can’t find it, though.

This was my thinking too but since there was no quick answer from her has me wondering. Seems like an easy question to answer. This was a photographing error. It has been corrected and the actual product is the green "Stories Matter" design that is shown in the video. Thanks katiejaeger

It won’t come out until april, according to the blog post! Huh?! That does not make sense. Why are they waiting? $$$ Thanks btw. I think it's because they honestly aren't done creating the digital products/formatting them for download. I think they have been so focused on the physical products and making sure they get out in a timely manner, they wait until this product launch is complete before working on the digital products. They seem to always release digital products later and from some things that have been said over the years (such as them not being sure of what will be released digitally and being able to adapt digital products to late requests) I really think this is the way they produce them. I would guess that Ali hasn't designed the page templates yet and that she will work on those and Katie will work on adapting the files used to make the physical products into digital products in the next week or so. It seems like a fair way to balance out work to prioritize the physical products (that need to be created with manufacturing time and released with shipping time before the project) over digital products which require much less time to fix if there is an issue/get to the consumer.
ETA: It also probably helps with the website crashes that digital shoppers aren't coming to the site at the same time.

I understand your point of view. Ali did say she will work on the templates a bit later. But to manufacture the physical items, her team has had to have a final digital version, I think. As for the digital shoppers, they don't have come at the same time because digitals don't sell out. They'd be crazy to buy shen the physical items go live.

I liked knowing ahead of time what was available, even though I didn't see the black/gold cards before now. But I don't like dark cards like that so I only glanced at them quickly and decided against them. I didn't realize there were going to be the black/gold cards or anything that wasn't included in the blog post. So I made my shopping list from the blog post and went through and added stuff to my cart as fast as I could before the images even loaded (just based on the product names) and checked out.
Of course, it doesn't look like anything sold out yet so I guess I could've had more time to browse but too late now. This is where I think Ali (and Inked in general) shoots itself in the foot with this FOMO. I was always going to buy these products, I didn't need to have a rush to buy them at 1 PM (I'm in EDT) to convince me that I wanted them. If I had instead been assured that I could've picked them up at my leisure anytime today I would've (1) waited until I was off of work; (2) spent time browsing the products and carefully considering each item and probably would've added in a few more items; and (3) would've browsed the rest of the shop to add in anything else I wanted. But, instead I got the 4 items that were "must haves" for me, frantically put them in my cart, entered my free shipping code and checked out all in under 2 minutes. I won't go back and add more now because I no longer have free shipping, plus it was a stressful experience and I had to do it at work which is technically not permitted (but really not an issue, although I would've preferred to do it on my own computer). Just seems like a huge mistake in the way its organized. But then, it's always like this... not sure they'll ever fix it.

Actually, you (collective you!) will buy anything when you're frantic. And you might even go back and buy more because of all the items you forgot.

. Sums up exactly how I felt. I actually got sent home early (Nor'easter #4) from work and the whole time I'm driving I'm looking at the clock like OMG I have to make it home in time. Which I did, but I was in such a rush to get everything I didn't even know about the black and gold cards which I would have certainly picked up while ordering. I was too busy worrying about being cart jacked to look at anything other than what I already knew I wanted. And like you I won't order them now and pay shipping. BUT it did remind me (in a good way) of my past DD orders and how much fun it was to beat the clock. Maybe I just like torture.

Maybe true that some over purchase because of the rush, but I think more under purchase--if given more time to browse I am almost guaranteed to add more to my cart. I would imagine there are more people in my boat than those who over buy, but maybe not. Either way I would think that they wouldn't want the result--if individuals overbuy they are probably going to have buyers remorse and buy less next time. Similarly they'd have people like me who might feel like they missed out on some items, but won't pick up extra items now because they're not willing to pay shipping. You would think they would prefer the flipside--which would probably result in more sales, but would definitely result in happier customers.

I am definitely in the camp of 'give more time and I will buy more'. I don't want to pay more shipping so instead of getting more (now) I will just do without.

This entire WITL lead up and purchasing has really made me think about scrapping in a way I haven't in a looooong time. Of course there were glitches. I got the bad gateway message at least 6 times, PayPal wouldn't load....BUT it has made me excited about the project. And reading the AE blog. And digging out some of my other scrap stuff and geting back in to it. Bottom line: this made me happy. I've been an AE fan since way back in the day with Creating Keepsakes. I stepped away from her after the monster that is SC started to (in my opinion) have an impact on Ali's business and products. Whether or not I was in love with the kit (which I am) I would have definitely tipped my hat to her and how well this launch has been executed. Between the blog, the video and feedback we've been getting here from Katie. I'm impressed.

They have $10 flat shipping, which kinda sucks. I purchased mine from my local Walmart with free pickup. It ran about $5 cheaper for 2. That's great, you got a much better deal. Walmart Canada doesn't sell them, unfortunately.
