The DD stuff (from everyone) seems to get later and later. Glad I'm all organised for this year and the album and transparencies I ordered from the 2nd DD shipment are actually for next year - because at this rate I'd be lucky to get them before Christmas!

You are very organised! I always have stuff ready for the next year too, but that's mainly because I never even get started each year, so everything just carries over..... Not feeling super confident this year either. Our house is currently on the market, so all my stuff is packed away. Hoping for a quick sale, so I can get some stuff out!

This is what makes me hesitant to rely solely on new stuff each year. International shipping isn't always reliable and the inevitable delays and rushing has me starting the DD season stressed over paper and trimmings. I love the seasonal albums, but I'm over the SC quality. Too many issues year after year that I finally learned my lesson: buy a mini kit of new stuff and rely on WRMK albums and a DIY main kit.

I was putting up last years album after taking photos for my blog and the whole ring mechanism separated from the spine. I wasn't being rough or anything. Seriously irritates me. If I had finished my album before this years DD ordering period started & this happened, I would not have ordered an album from there this year. SaveSave

People are posting that they have received their DD so some are being shipped. It's just weird that it's so late since last year it was early. I know I will have it in time but shipping is taking forever lately to get from one side of the country to the other lately so I'm a little more anxious as I was hoping to have it sooner than later and fully expect it to take two weeks the same as the monthly kits if you don't do add ons. Studio calico was doing shipping last year so it shouldn't be different than last year in theory. I just looked at the add ons for the story kit and again they are pastels I like the puffy stars but they are only for the story not stamp kit. So no add ons for me. I thought I would be tempted with the main kit but the colors and several of the cards just don't work for me. So just the stamp set this time around.

So The October story kit Best is open for addons and once again, the price of the addons turns me completely off. $4 for 14 tiny die cuts? I have always liked these banner shapes from SC, so I’ll probably pick up the digital file for them.

It's becoming quite clear that Inked is not handling Ali's stuff the way it's been in the past. 1- internationals should be shipped FIRST 2- update the status in our accounts! This is not anyone's first ball game, it is not complicated. Hell, people who ordered aren't even receiving the blanket statement e-mail to tell them it's being worked on. (raising my hand) Every year there's the "we're working SO hard, we're LISTENING to you" spiel. Seriously?

And "Best thing since slice bread"? That's actually one of the stamps I liked in her set, but could totally see how it wouldn't be everyone's favorite. I like the colors too, but not going to use my DD budget for it.

I don’t think I’ve ever said the word “rad” and haven’t heard it outside of Ali/SC since the 80’s. Do people actually still say “rad”? Of course, I still say and hear “awesome” all the time so it could be regional.

I too was shocked at the cost of the add ons, particularly the 2 rubber words for 5 dollars? I love shopping and am not frozen, but no add ons for me this month!. I am also now concerned about quality (since the notepad debacle) and none of the add ons actually describe the product...how many puffy stars am I supposed to get for said 5 bucks?

I am super disappointed with the reveal of the best kit... there is NOTHING in it that is new or innovative... I seriously feel like I already have it.
1. She's done this EXACT color scheme multiple times before. 2. Many of the card designs are rehashes of cards I already have from Ali. For example, the "do your best" card--I already have a card with the exact same format of Ali's journaling in the same color scheme. 3. The white stars that don't lay flat--I still have those in my "current" to use supplies from the SC kit they came in earlier this year (they had both white & green ones). 4. The tear apart ticket sheets--SC has done this multiple times and I've never used up an entire booklet of them and one of them was fairly recent because it's also in my "current" supplies. 5. The ribbon stickers--ABM had these in a previous kit and I just got them from the MMS.
So frustrated and not at all excited to get this.
For the add-ons, I feel like Ali should've rewritten "this" for the rubber words... the "t" is super thin and looks messed up. I get her handwriting is "sloppy beautiful" and I tend to like it, but some takes are better than others and it feels like she just went with the first attempt there. I kinda want to get the circle label stickers but it doesn't specifically say you get 2 sheets... does she confirm that anywhere?
ETA: I appreciate that they finally updated the add-on selection pages to not give me two separate boxes for the stamp + kit (before, my add-ons would disappear if I clicked over to the other kit, even if the same add-on was available for both kits, so it was super confusing).

ETA: The kit looks more "complete" with the add-ons which I'm afraid is almost always the case lately. Not a fan of the tear-apart and ribbon stickers myself. ETA2: the exact color scheme lasteve1 ? When? I'm just curious.

I live in the same area as Ali, and I also haven’t heard anyone use the word “rad” in a very long time. I think it’s just her 😂😂. I also still say, and hear the word “awesome” all the time.

Yeah...I don't think I've ever heard anyone say "rad." I live in CT, but I'm pretty sure it's just an Ali thing. I'll be the first to admit that I completely overuse "awesome." Every month I check the new kit, hoping I'll love it. Not this month. Really disappointed that all the embellishments included in the kit lately are so flat and boring. Are those big white stars just paper? Ugh. Even the "Surprise" kit, which I hated, had those awesome white glitter chipboard stars. The only part of this one I really like is the arrow chipboard

ETA: If those white stars are the same as the ones included in a recent SC kit (and they really look like they are) they are a shimmery paper... it's a fairly nice paper--almost like a cross between white cardstock and vellum, but still paper. And they keep curling!!

You're right- I forgot about Rad & Happy. Now I've heard two people use it. Hahaha. Yes those stars look like they would be a huge pain in the butt to get flat. Does the adhesive show through when you stick them down? I'm frustrated just thinking about it. lol

Never use Rad just not something I say
I noticed in the video that the chipboard looks to be cut a bit wrong snd some words were really close to one edge vs the other. May not bother some but would bother me. I only get the stamps do not an issue for me.

ETA2: the exact color scheme lasteve1 ? When? I'm just curious. I looked through old kits to try to find the same color scheme because I seriously got deja vu when looking at this month's kit. I realized that it seems like she picks 5ish main colors each month--This month I think the colors she focused on were green, yellow, red, dark aqua & light blue. But it seems like she's choosing from the same universe of like 20 colors total, and just mixing and matching from the same palette every month. But, it doesn't seem like she's used all 5 of these colors together before, but she has used a partial combo--some examples of kits that used the same colors: Eat has the same yellow, red, green, and light blue: aliedwards.com/2017/03/story-kit-story-stamp-eat I think this is the one that seemed so similar to me. Cheer has the same yellow, red and light blue: aliedwards.com/2015/11/new-story-theme-now-available-cheerDetails (just this September) has the same dark aqua: aliedwards.com/2017/08/story-kit-story-stamp-details Also, there was a 4x6 card that said "details" in Ali's handwriting--text in white, background dark aqua--and it looks VERY similar to the "the best of the best" card this month--same style and coloring (even same placement in kit photo), just different sentiment.

I had that same deja vu feeling with the colors. They're very, very similar to the "Numbers" kit!

I'm another one who is way disappointed in this upcoming story & stamp kit. It was total deja vu! Everything is becoming stale and just recycled. I really disliked the time kits as well, and haven't been able to sell them - first one in a long time that I want to get rid of. Best makes that 2 now. If next month's designs follow this boring, uninspired trend then I will most likely cancel my subscription. I hate to do that and say this as I've really loved AE's stuff for so long. Now it is just so uncreative. And "rad" is not something I, or my kids, ever say. With as much as Ali says "super", I'm surprised she hasn't had that yet. I'd much rather that word than rad!

I am a west coast transplant. No one I know says rad.
The embellishments and add-one always feel like rehashes of Studio Calico releases. Her kits seem to get similar items months after they appear in SC kits. In some cases, the items are identical and they just put them in AE packaging (cork numbers I'm looking at you).

Those stamp tear aparts are ridiculous. SC has given them away many times. Zero value. The banners have been in multiple inked brand kits.
When is ali going to start coming up with fresh ideas instead of inked rehashes?

haven't looked at the kit, but I have an issue with the saying 'best thing since slice bread' if that's how it's written- because it's supposed to be 'best thing since sliceD bread.'
*Slice bread* isn't a thing; it's SLICED bread.
