I was trying to find out what happened to PTI. Like a lot of others, I have been very disappointed in them lately. Wish I could remember where I read this, but someone posted correspondence they had with PTI customer service. I could not believe my eyes and thought it must be a joke. But as I read on, I realized others were having the same problems. Never have I read such rude, insulting correspondence from any customer service department anywhere. I agree that PTI has wonderful cardstock, but I am going to think very carefully before ordering any more.

Yes I remember those CS responses. Some of them were on Splitcoast Stampers. Some of the most alarming ones happened several years back and were also published. It was pretty awful. I think their customer service coupled with their less exciting product has reduced their sales but they do still have a smaller loyal following if their forum is any judge. The one issue I had with a a die was handled professionally but I was very careful to send pictures and documentation. Their CS manager is also an owner so I guess she doesn’t get a performance review. I ordered every month with them for a couple years but I thought die quality and stamp innovation went downhill. Competition has been fierce also. Last year they had a good sale and I bought a foot and a half of cardstock and postage was free. I’ll probably buy Neenah cardstock in the future but it is more expensive. I don’t know why Nicole left the company but she has a new career in her home state with a magazine company and no longer seems to have any ties to the papercrafting industry.

Yes I remember those CS responses as well, although I think the main problems were several years back. My main issue now with the company is that the style has definitely changed and most of the stuff seems really stuck in the past to me. Maybe my style has evolved as well but there's so many more choices now than there were when PTI first began.

I remember those threads at SCS very, very well. We also had one about the CS over at the old 2Peas Stamping board. The way they treated their customers was some of the most appalling behavior I have ever seen in this industry. I know after those threads I won't even look at their items. Those threads are still up at SCS. That has to be six or seven years back though.

The strangest one I have seen is this one. It just goes on and on. I’ve never seen anything like it. Whatever you might think about the issue, the response is just bizarre. terrbear38.blogspot.com/2014/11/with-great-saddness.htmlI also think their products are stuck in time. This thread reminds me why I’ll probably buy paper elsewhere next time.

I don’t know about years ago, but I’ve been in touch with their CS a few times recently, and it was a very easy, pleasant experience. One was even on live chat on a release night, and she combined an order for me. I was very pleasantly surprised. That being said, the release night website issues are hard to get past in this day and age. Their site needs an overhaul in a big way (and supposedly is in the works?) as well. Another who loves their paper here!

And now Betsy Veldman is leaving PTI. They are hinting that there will be a big announcement on February 1st concerning the future of the company. I hope they are not closing...

If they were closing, I doubt their email would have said "Stop by our website or blog on February 1st for a special announcement about all the amazing plans we have in store for you in 2019!"

I agree. It will be interesting to see what the changes are, but it doesn't sound like they're closing. That being said, I'm super bummed about Betsy leaving. She was my favorite product designer. I don't even know how I'll cope without her yearly Christmas kits! I've bought every single one.

Wow another one leaving. She did so much of their design. I’ll miss their paper if they close but I think I might have a three year supply.

I agree about the not closing. Kara Yoder is being added to the team. A couple of her stamp sets came out in the January release. I only know this because I went over and read some forum comments. I checked out her Instagram and she is is a very arty choice, not what I would have expected for the increasingly provincial PTI. She does graphic design though. Lot of speculation on the big change for the company being announced in Feb. I only buy cardstock from them now so I’m only concerned about whether that part of their business will survive. They have been in disarray for some time in terms of restocking and never launching the new website that was supposed to end the frequent order night crashes.

Yeah, we're coming up on the one year anniversary of when the new website was supposed to debut!
As long as they are around for card stock and the price doesn't change, I'm good. They don't do kid stamps well at all and 75% or more of my cards are for kids.

I was a little disappointed in this year’s kit though- I thought a lot of it was too small and fussy. But I did have a lot of fun putting together gift card boxes.

Melissa is "scaling back" on her work with them also. That announcement came about the same time. I guess it could be compensation or job description changes or a whole new direction. Useless to speculate but kind of fun.

I was sad to hear about Betsy leaving and Melissa scaling back, pretty soon after Heather also left (she is now designing for Taylor’s Expressions).

I’m betting Betsy will be joining another stamp company. I hope it’s MFT.

I see that some of the popular PTI designers have left or are leaving in Jan. 2019. There is going to be some kind of an announcement from PTI on Feb. 1st.

Sadly both Dawn McVey and Lizzie Jones announced today that they are also leaving PTI.
I guess the announcement in Feb should cover who is left and what they will be doing. It isn’t that surprising that people are leaving after Nicole left, but I guess I am surprised it took a year.

Well I guess its only to be expected following Nichole's departure. PTI has seemed to be in a bit of disarray with things out of stock for months at a time and the style of product has definitely changed. Not sure that I'll be buying from them again.

Wow, all the great ones leaving. As much as I have heard and read about their issues, I really do love their products and cardstock, especially. I loved that 10 year anniversary sale where some things were like 90% off I think!? I got a lot of cool things when they did that. I wish I had bought their felt when it was dirt cheap. Their colors are amazing. Love their watercolor notecards as well.

Yeah, not surprised at all. With the way Julie & Jane treat their customers in public, can you imagine what bitches they are behind the scene.
I hope Gina K picks up some of the talent that has left.

Seems like whatever the plan is for Feb 1 it was not going down well with the designers. Each said that they made the decision to leave. The blog message was pretty tone deaf. Instead of having a separate post saying goodbye to the departing designers, they started out by congratulating the company and hyping the new direction. Then near the end it was. Oh by the way all these long time employees are leaving. The big “winds of change” cliche was thrown in there too. Who writes this stuff?
It doesn’t matter what they sell if they can’t invest in a no crash website and proper restocking. It looks like they are continuing as a stamp company of some sort with Julie at the helm. Can’t imagine.

Julie is really bad at customer service. I mean, colossally bad. I love their cardstock but I won't risk my money buying anything else from them.
I wonder if PTI is going MLM. I can't think of anything else that would warrant a big, timed announcement.

Maybe the company sold. Either that or a poor revenue stream would explain why they weren’t fixing the website or restocking. Seems like they need to move their announcement up with all these resignations. Wonder if people are frantically trying to stock up with items on their wishlists and also use up their reward points. I’d buy white cardstock if I didn’t already have a foot of it. They say they are going to continue on though.
