If you all are talking about me posting here, then just come out and say it. I’ve been nothing but respectful in my statements on this thread, have not called anyone names nor have been nasty to anyone.
If my asking politely for a poster not to infer something I did not say, or request using “please” stop doing that, is now considered drama or argumentative, then obviously I need a new book of rules I’m supposed to abide by.

Here's the deal Gia. Whether you believe it or not, it's a fact that easy access to guns causes these massacres. When you are immediately going on about how no guns can be restricted ever, you are saying owning guns is more important than keeping human lives safe. End of story. That is not what I said, but if you'd like to continue this we'll have to take it to another thread since we've all agreed that this isn't the thread for gun discussions.

I'll keep the gun topic out of here, sorry about that.
I know I brought it up before, but has anyone else decided to go ahead and watch Scandalous, about the Clintons?
There are so many parallels between the Whitewater/Clinton investigation and the Russia/Trump investigation. It's also been interesting to see so many people around in Washington today that were involved back then, such as Christopher Wray, Rod Rosenstein, Ann Coulter to name a few.
Being older, and more in tune to what's happening today in Washington, I've really enjoyed this.

Not reporting, she's a lawyer and was secretly working on legal briefs on Paula Jones' behalf (there was a group of 5 attorneys known as The Five Elves?). So not only did I not know she was a lawyer, I had no idea she worked on the case.

Another one of the "Five Elves" working on Paula Jones' behalf was George Conway, Kellyanne Conway's husband.

I probably sound like I just realized the world was round with all of this. Most of this is probably common knowledge to a lot of people, but these details are all new to me.

just Totally off subject right here-- This week, one of my daughters was getting ready for the day. She has three sons. Her husband was home. All of a sudden they heard a BIG bang from the other end of the house. On investigation, they found someone had tried to break into their home by trying to kick their back door opened. Thankfully, they had a chain lock on the door and whoever it was couldn't get in. If they had gotten in, no telling what would have happened. My son in law IS armed, and I'm sure he would have done whatever he had to do to protect his family. I'm thankful the person wasn't able to get in!! We’ve recently had occupied home invasions in my town They scare the crap out of me and we have large dogs. I’m sorry your dd and her family had to experience this scare! We had a rash of burglaries and home invasions a couple of years ago in our neighborhood. It set all of us on edge! Sadly a few weeks ago we had a random kidnapping and murder right here just a street over. The woman was taken from right in front of her home as she came home from work and forced to withdraw $ at ATMs before being murdered. A beautiful wife and mother killed in a murder for hire plot that didn't even involve her. Scary! Stay safe.

I’m sorry that my question I posted here on this thread caused a mess. I thought posting here would be safer for me than wading in on the other posts. It was not meant to cause a gun debate at all. I was questioning how/why things have changed in our society in such a relatively short amount of time. I’m sorry it went the way it did. I’ll go back to just reading posts and keeping my mouth shut. I can’t stand the fighting and definitely don’t want to be the cause of it. . Again, I’m sorry for my mistake.

In my cynicism, I rather imagine the NRA will step up to make up any lost donations from what this man might have contributed. Good for him for voting with his wallet, though. Yes, the NRA will probably do that. But this guy is doing the right thing. For everyone who is saying no one on the right is doing anything....yes. Yes they are. Will that be enough for some? No. But this guy is choosing to step up and do whats right. He could choose to just sit back and stay silent. Is it going to be enough? Probably not. But its something and it deserves to be acknowledged. SaveSaveAbsolutely. Money is always the great moderator and someone has to start. Thanks for sharing this.

It's a 7 or 8 part mini series, and I think yesterday's show was episode 5? It's on Fox which I know a lot of people won't watch, but I've found this to be very straightforward and unbiased. There's been a lot of comparisons in the current news between the Trump/Russia investigation and Nixon/Watergate, but I'm seeing a lot to compare the investigation to the Clinton investigation. One thing that's stood out to me is the democrats during the Clinton investigation were really coming down on Ken Starr, questioning his integrity, etc. and now a lot of republicans and Trump are doing the same to Mueller. And ironically, I think it's CNN has now requested documents from the Clinton investigation to be unsealed, and Bill Clinton was just in court this past Friday wanting to weigh in on the decision before they might be released.

I need some help or confirmation as to what I am reading......... What am I missing? I think I am reading that there will be no SNAP funds for people to use/spend? Only a box of what the government says people need? Cuts in Nutrition Assistance Would Make It Harder for Families to Afford FoodThe 2019 Trump budget cuts SNAP by more than $213 billion over the next ten years — or by nearly 30 percent. It imposes large benefit cuts on most households even though current benefits average just $1.40 per person per meal, and radically restructures how benefits are delivered. It also includes other benefit and eligibility cuts that would cause at least 4 million people to lose SNAP benefits altogether. The cuts would affect every category of SNAP participant, including the unemployed, the elderly, individuals with disabilities, and low-income working families with children. The budget: • Shifts more than $260 billion in food purchasing from individual households to the government. Under the proposal, the Agriculture Department (USDA) would hold back an estimated $24 to $29 billion per year in SNAP benefits (about 40 percent of the benefits issued to households) and use about half of these funds to give the households a box of non-perishable foods such as shelf-stable milk, ready-to-eat cereals, pasta, peanut butter, beans, and canned foods. This box of food would be in lieu of food that households would otherwise purchase with SNAP benefits at the grocery store. The other half of the held-back funds would be cut; households wouldn’t receive these benefits in any form. (The Administration claims that the government can purchase, box, and distribute these food commodities at a substantially reduced cost.) These changes would affect an estimated 34 million people in 16 million households in 2019, or almost 90 percent of SNAP participants. The new structure would impose new costs on states, which would be expected to implement the change without adequate financial support. And it would likely force households to incur greater transportation costs (and time) to get food for their families because they may have to pick up the commodities at centralized locations while still traveling to grocery stories for the remainder of their food purchases. www.cbpp.org/research/federal-budget/trump-budget-deeply-cuts-health-housing-other-assistance-for-low-and?utm_source=CBPP+Email+Updates+for+Media&utm_campaign=939ffef257-EMAIL_CAMPAIGN_2018_02_14&utm_medium=email&utm_term=0_af368626dc-939ffef257-43786269

A little side swing for Presidents Day... I'm watching The Presidents on the History channel today. DH is huge history guy anyway, but as they start talking about FDR and Truman and how they didn't talk like politician they called it 'plain talking'. FDR was a little more rough but every so often DH will say 'that sounds familiar'.. even with some of the Democratic Pres. I don't know and haven't understood the outrage of Trumps talk.. Democrats also were upset that Truman was too soft on Russia. It's fascinating and I like they are covering what they were like and why they made decisions they did. Not all Presidents were prime and proper.

The plan calls for holding back 40% of the benefits. The families would still receive the other 60% on the SNAP card. Of the 40% held back, about half of that would be used to pay for the food boxes. The other half would be kept by the government as savings. If the plan works as they want it to, and if they manage to save as much as they hope, this would result in families getting the same amount of food benefits as before (with some loss of choice via the boxes) for 20% less expense to the government.

Does anybody else find this just a "bit" ironic? WASHINGTON (Reuters) - U.S. Special Counsel Robert Mueller has charged a lawyer with lying to investigators about his communications with Rick Gates, a partner of former Trump campaign manager Paul Manafort who also has been charged in the Russia probe. The indictment against Alex Van der Zwaan also accuses him of deleting or otherwise not producing emails sought by the Special Counsel's office, which is investigating possible ties between President Donald Trump's 2016 campaign and Russia. Both Gates and Manafort, who worked on Trump's presidential campaign, have been charged in the probe. link: www.yahoo.com/news/mueller-charges-lawyer-false-statements-russia-probe-144410929.html
