George H.W. Bush, who is FAMOUS for wearing wonderfully kooky socks, wore a very specific pair in honor of his wife Saturday. To honor his wife of 73 years and her commitment to family literacy, for which she raised over $110 million over the course of over 30 years, @georgehwbush will be wearing a pair of socks festooned with books at today’s funeral service for former First Lady Barbara Bush. — Jim McGrath (@jgm41) April 21, 2018

Here's a photo of the socks:

The Bush family released some photos of Barbara Bush's funeral yesterday, including some from the private burial in College Station. I thought some might be interested in seeing them. These were released locally, but I haven't seen them on the major news networks yet. Bush Family Shares Photos

Thank you Gypsy Girl for posting those. I was most certainly interested in seeing them. I love the Bush family. I watched her funeral yesterday and found it very moving and beautiful, so I especially liked seeing these more private family photos. The one of the pink roses with pearls was so fitting!
Thank you again. It was kind of you.

The service was beautiful yesterday. This is our church and it was a bit odd to be watching from home. I almost felt as though I was sitting in the balcony with the cameraman. The Bush family is very much loved locally, especially Barbara. The family had requested that no helicopters be there for the service, or for the processional from Houston to College Station. Every single local station complied with that request. That speaks volumes to how loved she was here.

Good morning everyone I’m confused and have a question. Trump’s pick for the VA position, is he the same WH doctor that is Trump’s and was Obama’s WH doctor?

And apparently these work issues happened under Obama but are just surfacing now. Can I just say, I’m tired of it. No, I don’t support or defend Trump, but how can people not see the constant double standard/bs

No, I don’t support or defend Trump, but how can people not see the constant double standard/bs I too, have questions about why this guy has managed to stick around given all the withering evaluations by coworkers and reports from other sources concerning out of control behavior related to drinking--I think it was stated as "excessive drinking on the job" to which I reply, EXCESSIVE drinking on the job?!!!--shouldn't it just be drinking on the job, LOL. Since this is a fairly new story, I'm sure more will come out. Also, since alcohol abuse is progressive, perhaps his use has escalated since he worked with Obama? But valid questions, nonetheless.

He's withdrawn, so all of the "investigating" may be moot as far as that goes.

No, I don’t support or defend Trump, but how can people not see the constant double standard in this case, I don't think it's a double standard if none of it came to light until now... just my opinion, though. If it was well-known that he had these issues, then I don't understand why they let him keep his job no matter WHO was President, frankly. Did he really withdraw his nomination? I'll have to check- I hadn't heard that on my way to work when I was listening to the news.

There is a huge difference between being a doctor in the White House who takes the president's blood pressure and the person who runs the entire VA.

No, I don’t support or defend Trump, but how can people not see the constant double standard/bs It seems that the problems have happened since he went through the vetting process the first time. What we don't know is who knew of these problems before, if they were reported. Also, my understanding is that several people have come forward now (and that isn't a partisan issue) because of his nomination for a new position. Which he isn't qualified for to begin with, regardless of these issues.

There is a huge difference between being a doctor in the White House who takes the president's blood pressure and the person who runs the entire VA. Im sorry. This is just an absurd statement. This is a two star admiral that has been the physician to three presidents. He isn’t a glorified nurse practitioner. He has had no issues until he was nominated for the VA position and now he is a raging alcoholic and pill pusher. Makes absolutely zero sense. None.
