What do you think will happen with DACA and the shutdown? Shumer already blinked once.... I truly believe there is no way in hell the democrats want a solution to DACA under Trump, no way-no how. They will do whatever they can to prevent it from happening during his presidency, and will use it as a campaign pitch for the mid-terms and beyond. Will it be used for another shutdown? I don't think so, a lot of democrats and republicans out there were p.o.'d so they won't risk that again. But as a future tool? Absolutely. I'm eating my words this morning. Another day, another bunch of poo hits the fan. The Grassly memo apparently points to Hillary breaking the law, some Russian radio people call Schift's office and totally troll him regarding a porn star and DT, and now the emails between the two FBI agents have been released and they imply President Obama wanted to know the details of everything they (the agents) have been doing in regards to Comey's investigation into Hillary's email stuff. Also, word it that the democrats memo in regards to the dossier has tons of top secret/classified information so they *KNOW* that it can't be released without being heavily redacted thus a talking point for the democrats and how the Republicans aren't playing fair. The details of this whole mess makes my head spin.

I think the problem with applying that thought process to politics is you're also missing all of the business upside and downsides to a tough negotiation. Yes business owners can dig in their heels - but usually there is a financial benefit for getting the deal done and often there is a huge financial downside to dragging out negotiation over trivial matters. Not to mention the other side ALSO has a financial interest to not drag things out or be unreasonable - or you find a different business who is interesting in doing the deal. Then you layer in the fact that the politicians are as concerned about sound bites and how the deal can be played in the media than what the actual ramifications are..... |

I’m glad you started this thread. I actually deleted my account about a year ago because of the overall tone on the political threads. I used to enjoy the political threads and found the conversations interesting. I decided to delete my account when I thought people just saw me as a stupid worthless human being because I had a different point of view. A few weeks ago I happened to check 2peas just to see if there was anything different. I checked back a few times and this thread was there. I opened up my account again just so I could say hi. I lost a little faith in humanity. I felt better when I left. Why spend time in a place that is frustrating. I’m interested in reading some new opinions. I’ve already read on this thread people that I have a difference of opinion but I’m not taking offense because we are different. I’m hoping they will feel the same way. |

I agree that it's disappointing to see people that you can have a completely lovely interaction with on a non-political thread suddenly turn on you in the most unhinged manner just because of political bias. In that case, I realize it's them, not me. This is not an indictment of every pea in the political threads, from either side of the aisle. There are very specific peas that have permanently changed my opinion of them however. It's disheartening that supposed civilized adults can't agree to disagree. Out in the wild WWW I can understand that carelessness, but most of the peas have been here for a long time and there is a shared history. That those few long time peas cannot afford grace to another's opinion is sad.
