I think I need to invest in a printer for home, but really have no where to put one. Have you looked into the mini ones that only print up to 4x6 or 6x8? I don't have a mini one but I think lots of people love them. They are compact and then you would only have to order larger photos, if you really are interested in printing at home. I print at home and it does have its drawbacks though. Like elegantsufficiency pointed out, sometimes they mess up and it's so frustrating. This year I took Christmas Eve off of work even though we didn't have plans until the evening so I could spend all day working on my album and other crafty projects. Instead I spent 4 hours troubleshooting because my printer decided to print all the photos dark and muddy looking! Not only did it take 4 hours, but it wasted lots of photo paper and ink. Another issue is that paper and ink are really expensive. I try not to think about how much I spend on it, but it's hundreds per year (I do scrapbook A LOT though). Finally, I think professionally printed is just better quality. I have a really fancy photo printer and the prints still don't look as "polished" as the ones that I get from persnickety prints (I still order photos when I'm doing an entire mini album and am not worried about waiting for them). I do have a printer at home for photos, the EP-400. I love it, definitely a game changer for getting as far as I have as quickly as I have. I need a regular 8x11 printer for my journaling cards though. I bought a bunch of digital ones from IACB. But yes, very expensive. Just had to replenish both paper and ink from DD printing.

elegantsufficiency I love your album, especially the navy which I was totally into this year. I love how you've included all the little bits like the page of stamps and the coffee cup insert, and the gift tags. joblackford I really like the black page bases and all the festive words stacked on your title page. The Elf costume is pretty cute too!

I am running out of steam on my DD album. I just need it finished. Sent off the final order for 6x8 prints and the printing for the journal cards. I'm regretting leaving all of the printing and journaling until the end, it's not my favorite part of this project. I think I need to invest in a printer for home, but really have no where to put one. Do you live near a Walgreens? Before I got my new printer (last year), I would upload pics to the app in the evening and pick them up on my way to work.
I use an app on my phone called PicFrame to get 2X2 photos onto one 4X6. I would wait until there was a coupon for the 8X10s and use photoshop to put the 6X8 in an 8X10 "canvas" and have them printed there.
Good luck. I know your frustration.

Thanks, ladies elegantsufficiency your album looks great. Lots of cool ideas in there. I especially love the gift tags using photos. And the sheepskins too - nice shopping! I love those Christmas stamps with the postbox paintings.

Thanks for kind words about my Christmas Journal. I feel that next year, I need to switch it up a bit - maybe I'm getting in a rut, which is why it was a challenge to keep it going and to finally put it to bed. I like your idea of writing a letter to yourself joblackford - I'll certainly record somewhere my intention to use a different format alongside a reminder that I need no more Christmas stuff! So when you all start getting excited about next year's new designs sometime around June (!) I'll be trying to bury my head in the sand saying "nooooooo". (as if)

I was telling DH earlier that I think this coming year I am going to avoid even thinking of Dec Daily until atleast late August. I feel like I have been burned out on DD as its been on my mind since June!

elegantsufficiency joblackford I do this "letter to myself" idea every time I do one of these short annual projects (WITL, DD). Well, it's more like notes, but I tend to write myself some notes about what worked/didn't work in my process and what I want to do differently next time. Then when I'm getting ready for the next year's project I look through my old projects and read my notes and see if I still feel the same way. I left myself a note to do WITL digitally next year and print it in a photo book. I'm not sure I could go that way with DD though, I just love the crafty side... especially after doing 4x6/semi-minimal this year, next year I imagine I will be ready for a 6x8 CHUNKY book! I do definitely get the appeal of a crisp digital book and I hope you follow through with your plan to do it next year and share it with us, maybe I'll be inspired to do that for 2020! Hopefully I listen to myself for DD 2019 and don't buy very much, if anything.

Hey everyone! Sorry for not being an active part of the thread this year, but Iβve been here lurking the whole time. Iβve got my album done and saved to my story highlights on my instagram (@paperandspool). I also have the final bit (20-25) up on my YouTube channel! youtu.be/ZR-aBQiEWN4

I have a Epson PM-400, so photos 5x7 and smaller are not a problem. I need a document printer though if I'm going to continue to use digital journaling cards. I really don't have space for one of those. elegantsufficiency - Thank you! I picked up my 8x11 prints the other day and got back into the spirit of things. Hoping to be finish over the weekend. lasteve1 - I do have a mini printer for photos. I was talking about a 8x11 printer for regular documents, sorry my original post was not clear at all. I just had to buy ink and paper for the Epson PM-400, $50...ouch.

So when you all start getting excited about next year's new designs sometime around June (!) I'll be trying to bury my head in the sand saying "nooooooo". this coming year I am going to avoid even thinking of Dec Daily until atleast late August. I feel like I have been burned out on DD as its been on my mind since June! Hopefully I listen to myself for DD 2019 and don't buy very much, if anything. The last couple of years I've gotten swept up in the search for good deals mid-year and by the time December rolls around I'm not very excited about what I've bought. I've pushed through and used the stuff anyway, but I'm not going to jump into buying anything this year. ESPECIALLY not since I'm planning to go digital. Of course once I paged through my album to photograph it I found I was more satisfied with it than when I was still making it, so we'll see how I feel when I get it out again, but unless I decide to do a Xmas in July project (I have an old album I'd like to re-work) I'm not going to make plans or buy anything until at least late October! I also got rid of lots of things that have been hanging around too long. That one sheet of FYC paper I could never make work no matter how hard I try, the leftovers from an old SC kit (the one that came in the stripey red and green box, which I also still use). I have a small box of stuff I'm considering RAKing here, but I'm not sure if anyone really wants my leftovers, even for free.

heeeeeeey sleepingbooty where you been? Long time no see! Check in, will ya!?! Heeeeeeey mom! Had a very mellow start to the year. Not quite sick but also not feeling totally great (ya know, the stuffy winter nose), sleeping extra and relaxing whenever possible to take it easy on my body, getting outside when feeling good enough for some seaside hikes, rethinking how I'm going to do Project Life this year (big time) and still messing around with my December Daily (it's mostly done but I'm still adding finishing touches here and there, having fun with my goodies).
Did I miss any DD/Ali + SC/Beggy H. madness while taking a break from most things online?

Well, I am glad you are back! I was about to send a search party out for you! How are you rethinking PL? Tell me more, tell me more! (insert Grease movie GIF that I am too lazy to link. Use your imagination!) EDIT - well crap. Should have read the whole thread before responding. No imagination needed since you already linked the Grease gif).

I can't believe it, but I'm done!! I finished my Christmas Journal this morning, have photographed it and put some pictures on my blog if you're interested. Now begins the clear up! I am filled with admiration for those of you who are just beginning the project, or who plan to make their DD later in the year. I have no idea how you do it. Here we are, just a couple of weeks on and I'm tired of all that red and green. Bring on the tulips, the snowdrops and the Easter Eggs (maybe one or two bits of heart shaped pink first?) sleepingbooty , thank you for corralling us all here. You did a grand job! That was FANTASTIC! TFS.

Thanks for all the inspiration & just general chit chat everyone. I still have about 12 stories that I want to document but I've done more this year, at this time, than in years past and I think this thread is the reason for it! ....now if only we had a birthday card thread. For some reason, I struggle with birthday cards, especially for kids! Hate making them. Cards not kids.

I am still making progress on my little TN journal. Thought Iβd be finished last weekend, but came down with a cold. Still, I only have 7 pages to go!
Hang in there, everybody. We can do this together!
@northrigg , I think a birthday card thread would be a great idea. I make quite a few, and would be happy to share ideas. Still donβt have photos of my DD, but I have lots of card pictures.
