1. Thought I was done and realized I have not yet finished days 7-10 because they are the TN, the empty, plain, bare, TN.
2. Do not let me buy anything next year. I hardly used any product. Aside from an album, page protectors, double-sided tape, and glue dots, I am good to go. I hope crate paper releases something ugly. Please, please, be ugly stuff next year.

Happy New Year to my friends across the International Date Line!
I finally set up my Epson 400 yesterday and printed some photos. It’s so awesome. I used the PL app to print small pics to add to my journaling, rather the the photos being the focus. My Cocoa Daisy TN DD is coming right along. Even though I haven’t made many pages yet, I jotted down some notes during the month and tucked them into the notebook. Everything is mapped out and ready to go. One of these days, I’ll post some photos.
I thought this was going to be a quiet weekend, but DD invited friends to stay over. They’ve been coming and going all weekend. I postponed my fun to shop, cook, entertain instead. I’m glad they all still like hanging out here, 4 years after they graduated from high school. Now that they’re 21, we’ll probably do some designated driver duties tonight as well.
Have a wonderful day and evening, no matter what you do to celebrate (or not)!

Happy New Year everyone. I have a DD question...I have taken pictures and wrote about each day. I am ready to start my album, but I had a pretty shitty Christmas. Everything was happy until a week before Christmas. So my question, has anyone had to address that in an album. The sadness we have had this season is very much part of this Christmas, so I feel I need to include it, I just am not sure how.

Do not let me buy anything next year. I hardly used any product. Same here. I have so much left that is still usable from the last couple of years that I really don't need to buy more--especially since I really like printing one big picture. Part of my problem is that so many things have repeat phrases.

cynipidae17, I am sorry you went through sad times at Christmas. I feel that yes, you should address it. Do what Shimelle does. Write all your journaling and hide it in an envelope or behind a photo. That way you will have it documented, but it won't be out in the open for everyone to see. This Christmas was a bit of a downer for me. So I chose a picture to represent how I felt this season. It will be the cover of my 2018 book. I printed in a 6x8 size.

I only have a couple of pages left to do in my December album. This was my first time doing one and I love it so much! I documented things that would have never made it onto paper otherwise. I’m really pleased with myself. cynipidae17 I’m a big fan of hidden journaling. I made pockets out of a picture and tucked a huge tag inside with personal journaling on it. I think I actually did two pages this way. My title page is a big pocket with a tag in it also. I’m a proponent of telling the real story, even when it’s a sad one. I’m sorry you had a tough holiday.

cynipidae17 I'm sorry Christmas turned out to be crap for you. I would also do as others have suggested and use hidden journaling. If there was good stuff I wanted to document in that last week I'd include that but otherwise I'd probably just do a page or two of pretty supplies and hidden journaling that covers that entire week. I hope things have gotten better for you. KelleeM your pages are lovely! I love all the pockets and flip up page protectors. It looks exactly how I want my album to be - a collection of all the little moments and things that make up the season and give a snapshot of life right now.

I haven’t shared any of my pages Your pages look great! cynipidae17 sorry you had a bad month. I would say if you want to write about it, go for it. Or just make pages of the stuff that was good. All the bad stuff probably won't seem so bad after some time has passed. It's been crappy here too but I chose to make pages about the good stuff because that's what I want to remember. Good luck.

Any suggestions on how to get the date on the spine of my FJ album? There is no metal thing.
It's vinyl so I don't think I'll be able to use any type of adhesive. I wish I had thought of this before. I wouldn't have bought the album.
I tried sticking something to the inside front cover and it keeps moving around.

I did a search on 'scrapbook spine tags' on Pinterest and got a few ideas of adding tags to albums without the metal label. Here are a couple: If you want to try adding a traditional metal tag plate, you can get some adhesive ones from scrapbook.com Here - Metal Label Holder.

I use a metal-edged round tag on all my albums. I decorate the tags w/the appropriate paper to match the album. Similar to this.

carolynhasacat @zingermack Thank you both! Great ideas. I have lots of tags so I will do something like that. I will just tie it to the binder ring with some ribbon or something.

SleepingBooty, Thank you *SO MUCH* for all your work on preparing these posts. ❤️ I’ve not started my DD (flu, travel, seasonal moods, etc) but I’ve got photos & notes and am certain I’ll refer to it when I (finally!) get started. Also, much gratitude for introducing me to Ingid Michaelson through the song posted here — I bought her holiday album and listened to it almost nonstop during gift wrapping marathon. I’m really excited to have found a new indie artist to explore. If you happen to see this, what non-seasonal album(s) of hers do you recommmend I try next? To my fellow December documenters: I will likely be offline for the next 48h, probably surviving in a state of food coma and tipsy haziness. Bring on ALL the food and ALL the fine wine bottles! 🥂 I want to wish everyone, participants and lurkers, a very merry Christmas, no matter your religious background or traditions. I hope you all stay safe and feel loved. 💖
To anyone who might not be spending the holidays with loved ones this year and is feeling a little lonely: you are in my thoughts. I wish I could give you a big hug and invite you over to our family table for the evening. Please take good care of yourself during these times and make sure you do something that makes you feel special.
Prompts n°24 and n°25: 🎄 MURRAY KREESMUS, Y'ALL! 🎅
Christmas. Christmas. Christmas. Do you need prompts? No, you don't! Go ahead. Snap as many or as little photos as you want. Just make sure you enjoy the moment. That's the most important thing, after all. If the usual things are less important at this stage of your life (like opening gifts), think ahead of what you can focus on instead for your documenting so you can adjust your photographer hat and set new expectations. Don't forget to check Snapchat with your geo location turned on for some special holiday filters. Mine currently has a fun Coca-Cola sponsored one with a personalised Coke bottle showing my name. They've also launched holiday filters to snap selfies with your dog or cat!
Song of the day (one of my very favourites this year 😍)Over & temporarily out. 💋
PS: Happy belated Festivus to my fellow atheists. May the pole have brought out your best dance moves. 😉

*emerges from bed* Happy second of January, December documenters! 💙 I managed to get out of bed before noon yesterday which is no mean feat. We went on a hike by the sea to sober up soak up the fresh air and new chapter vibes. And I'm debating adding this memory to my December album... I'll be getting scrappy later today. Anyone else having some December album fun today?
KelleeM Loving these pages! So many memories tucked into your album...
gynergy Happy to hear you've enjoyed Ingrid Michaelson (and the prompts). 😊 You could try It Doesn't Have to Make Sense which is from a couple of years ago. It has one of my favourite Ingrid Michaelson songs ever on it (as well as a few more upbeat ones):

I have to say, I got pretty burned out at the end and just wanted to be done, so I'm not thrilled with the last few pages. I hear you! I want my space clean and I want all the stuff put away. I don't have a designated craft space so I have this table that is typically folded up out all month and it's just too much. I'm going to go back through and add some final touches and I'll be done. The kid is pretty much done with her book to so we'll be able to put away the supplies. h this is me right now! I have three days left and I just need it done.... Thank you for sharing your beautiful journals - lasteve1, I love your style - and sleepingbooty for keeping us all going. Hopefully, I will get there sometime today or tomorrow but dh just started taking down the decorations and I need to do my bit too. Once Christmas is over, I'm ready for a clean start.

The sadness we have had this season is very much part of this Christmas, so I feel I need to include it, I just am not sure how. Oh no...so sorry to read that. My suggestion is to let the dust settle until you are ready to go with it. My 2008 Christmas journal is the one where I encountered similar problems and I can remember completing pages with tears streaming down my cheeks. Even now, when I look at it, I cry....and yet, it's the most honest and heartfelt record I have of those bleak days. Life isn't all rainbows and unicorns, is it? But it would have been weird to have not recorded any of those dark days at all and in many ways, the empty pages would have told an even sadder story. *hugs*

I've had them, and documented them too...I tend to stick with the facts of what happened - that's enough for me to recall the feelings that went along with them. I find that when I do this, I can focus on how I'm feeling now as opposed to getting caught up in what I was feeling then. Hope that makes sense.

I think I am officially calling my album done...!
I am so glad I went back to the 6x8 size because it is really fun printing a full-size picture for a day. I liked the 9x12 size that I've done for the last 2 years because I was able to include a lot of pictures and filler cards, but I missed the creativity that 6x8 allows.
I reeeeeaaaaallllyyyyyy do not need to buy anything besides an album next year. I'm sure I'll get sucked into some embellishments or 6x8 papers, but I really don't need any cards.
I am officially a year behind on my regular scrapping so I need to get into gear--I've always been just 3-6 months behind since I started when my son was 3 months old (is now 13!) but I've gotten distracted with other things (Hulu) and it's slowly stretched to a year now.
Good luck to everyone else as they finish up their albums!

I printed out a bunch of photos the other day. I had 17 favorite photos from the Enchant event I went to (a field of lights! how could I not?) and I wasn't sure how I was going to fit them all in, but I had a brainwave when I came across some pages I'd ripped out of my black page album - basically firm black cardstock scraps that happened to be the size I needed to make pages in my album! I was all out of 6x8 papers from my kit and, since all of these photos are nighttime lights, a black background made sense. There were two big ones and a narrow one, which I left on my desk with the photos before our family gathering and chilly lake plunge yesterday. Today my brain had sort of figured out how to lay out the photos so I could include them all plus some ephemera, a bit of pretty stuff, and some words. Yay! I had a few free hours today so I got on a bit of a roll. Like a lot of people, I'm ready to be done with this thing (and switch to digital next time!) so I'm not overthinking anything any more. I'm calling good enough perfect and scrawling journaling and not worrying too much. I still have lots of words to add throughout, but I think I have 80% of the events in there now. With a little bit of time tomorrow (assuming I can work through this cold I caught from the family) I think I can get it done this week. I just need to finish up what I have and add New Year's stuff and maybe something for 12th Night/Epiphany to mark the taking down. http://instagram.com/p/BsJpxeED8i4

I have been happily working on my journal and I'm enjoying being able to reflect on the previous month now that things aren't so rushed. I don't want to drag it out too long, or I'll get sick of it. I'm up to the 8th right now, but I have photos, some journaling, an outline, and supplies all laid out, so hopefully I can finish up in a week or so.
DD and I are headed to Mexicali with a group on a humanitarian mission so I won't be able to work on it over the weekend. I'll probably go ahead and add the trip at the end of the journal. I haven't been to Mexico for decades, other than debarking from a cruise ship. Should be interesting!

I feel the same way! I've actually not started 2018 DD. I have added much of the ephemera, printed pictures and have a ton of journaling in my notes and I can see I will barely touch my stash much less use purchases. I still have soooo much snow and cocoa I bought for 2017 I still haven't touched and it won't get used in 2018 (I love it though!!!) Someday! This year I have massive buyers remorse for the Ali Paislee Press mini and goodies/ Kelley Purkey stuff I bought mostly because I can mentally see the month in review and know it isn't going to be what I want. I did buy some intentional stuff from new releases (freaking Crate Paper kills me so cute! And Carta Bella is my crack), and I'm sure that will be plenty (and in line with my Christmas season 2018) along with the Ali transparencies and rubber elements. I should have just stuck with that no kits. Kits are the death of me. NO kits in 2019 I don't care what is released. I am still holding on for the love I had for the 2013 and 2015 Ali kits that were just... perfect. I need to quit that. I'm so happy for you that you are almost finished! I hope to burn through mine this weekend.

I never got around to making an opening intentions/reason why/manifesto page until now that I'm almost done with my album. I'd left a page and decorated it a little bit, intending to come back and spin some bull about what Christmas means to me (I wrote about that in my journal but I didn't come up with much that I wanted to see at the front of the album). I thought a Christmas bucket list might work too. Tonight after I hit the wall creatively I had a brainwave to use up lots of little phrase stickers and alphas by sticking down all the ones that speak to me about the holidays. I have a mixture of several different kinds from different kits and years and by mixing lots up they sort of go together (Shimelle's MOAR principle at work!). I'm trying not save anything this year. Use it or lose it. http://instagram.com/p/BsM1WesjTpI
