Sen. Dianne Feinstein just asked Christine Blasey Ford how she knew that Brett Kavanaugh was the boy who attacked her. Here's how she responded: "The same way I'm sure I'm talking to you right now. Basic memory functions. And also just the level of norepinephrine and epinephrine in the brain that sort of, as you know, encodes that neurotransmitter encodes memories into the hippocampus so the trauma related experience is locked there where as other details kind of drift. Feinstein followed up with this question: "So what you're telling us is this could not be a case of mistaken identity?" "Absolutely not," Ford said. I love that she’s even her own expert witness on the psychology of memory.

Did you see her face when Grassley was claiming, raised voice, what great things they did along the way, the meetings etc testimony in writing.. ABSOLUTE horror!

I would agree with them. She sounds credible. I still find it disturbing that none of the witnesses she's claimed were there and saw it all corroborate it.
As far as what is being said by the Fox commentators, I think the Republicans made a very poor choice in their advocate.

"Extremely emotional, extremely raw, and extremely credible," Wallace said during a break in the hearing. Just so you know.. FOX's Chris Wallace has a new view! Chris Wallace: My daughters disclosed incidents from their youth after Kavanaugh allegationsBY BRETT SAMUELS - 09/27/18 10:21 AM EDT Fox News host Chris Wallace said Thursday that two of his daughters revealed in the wake of sexual misconduct allegations against Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh that they endured previously undisclosed incidents when they were in high school. Wallace said his daughters brought up their experiences as the family was discussing the allegations against Kavanaugh over email. "[They] hadn’t told their parents, I don’t know if they told their friends. Certainly had never reported it to police," Wallace said on Fox News during coverage of a Senate Judiciary Committee hearing with Kavanaugh and one of his accusers, Christine Blasey Ford. Wallace noted that his daughters described events that "weren't as serious as the allegations against Kavanaugh." "But the point is that there are teenage girls who don’t tell stories to a lot of people, and then it comes up, and I don’t think we can disregard that," Wallace said. "I don’ think we can disregard Christine Blasey Ford and the seriousness of this. I think that would be a big mistake." ** thehill.com/homenews/media/408715-chris-wallace-cites-daughters-previously-undisclosed-experiences-ahead-of-ford

Out of respect for Dr. Ford (and if you don't believe her, then out of respect for all of the victims of assault out there), could we please limit this thread to dignified discussion of the subject matter at hand, and refrain from personal attacks? It's going both ways and it's not becoming on either side. This is a very serious matter and it's incredibly disrespectful to not show reverence to the importance of the situation.
Responding to unreasonable and disrespectful comments does nothing but fuel the maker. The only way to make it stop is to disengage.
I really wish we had moderation on this board.

There will be a thread started by her about soft furnishings any minute now, to deflect from the poison. You can set your watch by her. Fuck you too. There's no winning with assholes like you. If I post on political threads, you make negative comments. If I post fluff, you make negative comments. So in the end, just stfu. I'll post what and when I want. What happened to you having me on ignore?

What happened to you having me on ignore? Funny that huh? If you can read, take a look at the chronology. First Quinn's mom or grandma or whatever made a negative comment, and then you did. Until then my only posts were on the topic.

If she’s an academic/researcher in the field of psychology, I would be surprised if she didn’t use jargon to describe what she understands about trauma and memory, including her own. No reason to dumb down her insight and expertise.
Personally, I think the combination of personal, plain spoken memories within the larger, more technical context of the psychological processes is very effective, even affecting.

the fact that Grassley keeps interrupting to interject his comments, corrections, etc. is irritating as FU%K!! WHY does he get to do that, and why don't the Dems get to do that?!?
...it's really annoying me the way the expert is asking the questions to Dr. Ford-- it really DOES sound like she's being cross-examined in a courtroom. DUH-- this is the kind of stuff they would have found out IF they had done an FBI investigation. (ALSO really annoying is how Dr. Ford said she's afraid of flying, and the expert listed alllll the places she's visited by plane... as if to make it seem like she's lying about being afraid to fly.)

I am watching, but I wish I wasn't. It's so eerie the way she describes her assault, the things she remembers, the details, mirror almost exactly my experience.
It's so hard to watch. I don't understand the people who are calling in and saying it's so clear she is lying. In my mind, it's so clear she is not lying.
Oh god....Just T. This is EXACTLY how I am feeling. There are certain things she is saying that I felt during the attack and again when I had to testify.

Her lawyer didn't want the Republican members of the committee to each get a chance to question her. That's why they chose the one person. The same rule didn't apply to the Dems.

The individual grandstanding strategy isn’t unusual. They imbed their opinions during their time. They’re trying to influence public opinion, speak to their constituents, shine their star, stroke their egos, whatever.
The reason is seems one-sided this time is because the Republican senators have chosen to defer to the hired prosecutor - literally no chance to grandstand.
When it really bugs me is when witnesses grandstand or deflect in an effort to use the time limits to their advantage.

Makes no sense, to me, that he gets to react and explain "their side"-for lack of better words.
