I need to come visit all of you ocean peas. Il's many hours for us to drive to the ocean. I would give anything to be able to ride my bike there.

We live on Cape Cod and there are beaches at every point. The closest one to us is about a mile away. That being said - I'm so not a beach person - especially during the tourist season. I'd much rather be in the mountains.

Not as often as we did when we lived at the beach, obviously. We are lucky, though, that we are only about an hour away and my in-laws have a house in Cannon Beach, so we can go pretty much whenever we want. Historically, I'd say we average going twice a month. Now that I'm home-based (which really means based-wherever-I-take-my-laptop), we have been able to go more frequently because we aren't limited to just the weekends. We've been getting over there most weeks for at least a day or two.
When we first moved to Oregon, we lived at Sunset Beach, between Astoria and Seaside and were a 5 minute walk from the beach. I walked the dog on th beach literally every day. Still miss that.

Now you've made me realise I don't think we've been since we came back from our summer holiday last year (although we did get to several beaches in France & Spain then!). Must make an effort, about 1.5 hours from here to the nearest beach but we are in England so not always the weather for it. Might as well wait another 4 weeks 'til we head over to some of your beaches now!

I live about 55 miles from the beach. I make it there 1 or 2 times a month, not enough! Our beach can be cold, but I still just love sitting in the sand & listening to the waves. Very calming.

Growing up we were never more than 10 minutes for Lake Huron. I practically lived at the beach, but in recent years, with my parents passing, it had been almost an eternity ( well....3 years) since I got to the beach. 2 weeks ago dd19 and I decided last minute to go, and I'm so glad we did, it was like being home, the water and temps were perfect...it was like a big lake hug!

We try to go at least once a week in the summer. Today was time #4! The Atlantic Ocean is 20 minutes away and the ocean beach is lovely. The Long Island Sound is also 20 minutes away but the beach is sand plus rocks so not as nice. I am definitely a beach girl!

I haven't been on a beach since our cruise in 2001. That is all kinds of messed up. My kids have NEVER been to the beach. I hope that changes in the next year.

I live on the North Eastern coast of England, so just minutes from the beach. We have some beautiful beaches but not usually the high temps during the Summer and we can get cool breezes off the North Sea........and in Winter it's pretty chilly here!! We spend a lot of time walking there though, Summer or Winter! ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/5645536/images/MNrJDkDuSwqIMVw33MdD.jpg)

Not nearly enough. I love the beach and when we go it is usually around Seacrest, FL. It's about a 9hr drive for us.

I'm at my parents for the summer, and they live about 2 hours from the closest beach. I've made it with a friend twice this summer for a day at a time, and we are hoping to go again. Normally we make it once a year or once every two years, but for a week at a time.

Rarely, but not by choice. It's hours and hours to the nearest beach for us. I love it too, makes me sad that beach days are so out of reach.

We have many beaches around us, and we do swim once the water warms up. Usually July. They range from less than 30 minutes drive to over two hours, but over the summer we hit a lot of them. My kids love the beach. I live in Nova Scotia. "Canada's Ocean Playground".

Beautiful pictures in this thread, I'm jealous! Only lake beaches here too, and we are lucky if we get there once or twice a summer. When our kids were little it was more frequent, I guess it's one of those things we should get back into. I always find it relaxing.

whirledpeas - pretty pic! Where is that? I go at least once a year. This month I went to Santa Monica, it was too cold to get in the water but I took a bike ride along the beach. ![](http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c369/Annabella9/IMG_3576a_zps2c28cf1f.jpg) ![](http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c369/Annabella9/IMG_3525a_zpsa587ccbb.jpg)

Usually about 3 times a week. We have a lake house but are also only 10mins to the ocean. I really couldn't imagine living far from the ocean. I would feel trapped, even though I know it doesn't make sense, not like I'm sailing everywhere, I think it's just the idea that I could escape from whatever by the ocean.
I'm extremely grateful for being so close to the water, I used to never realize how happy it made me and how lucky I was, but now I realize how thankful I am, all the time. Even when my health issues flair up, I sit at the beach and try to relax, I can essentially make it as comfortable as my bed and would rather be out there than anywhere else.
The funny thing is, for as often as I go, you would think I would be once of those super tan leathery old ladies that I see there every time, but I'm still pale as a ghost. I suppose my skin will thank me when I'm older, but I wish I was able to tan and not be under the umbrella all the time!

Not nearly as often as I'd like.
We had our family beach vacation a couple of weeks ago, and we may spend another weekend or two during the summer at the beach. We're about 3 hours away.
It's my dream to have a place at the beach (even a small condo) and be able to go anytime I'd like to!

We go a lot through the spring and summer months. We are also 5 min away from a few, and 15 min away from more, and so on.
I'd post a pic but I don't know how. I'll try to figure it out.
Paige.

I actually live really close to the beach and my job is located right next to the bay. We have a seawall not a beach though, but there are 2 beaches less than 5 minutes away. I love the beach. It is my happy place. But for some reason I never go. I haven't been to any nearby beach since my kids were little. I don't know why. I have been to San Juan beaches, Atlantic City and Outer Banks beaches in the past year. But at work I see the water everyday, and the beautiful sailboats. It is a real perk of the job! ![](http://i1067.photobucket.com/albums/u423/myboysnme1/vawater.jpg)
