Shoes, mostly, but I am not a high-end girl. I wear almost exclusively Clarks because they are the shoes that fit my feet properly and don't aggravate my plantar fasciitis. I bought something else at Nordstrom Rack last week and wore them yesterday, and woke up with a big old fat flare today. Damn it. So I will spend what I have to spend to make my feet not hurt. I recognize 100% the absolute privilege in that and I am grateful for it with every painful step I took today, back in my trusty old Clarks.
I really like good cheese. But again - it doesn't have to be the top shelf stuff. I buy some yummy aged cheddar from Wegmans and it's like $5 for a little block, which is triple the price of the house brand cheddar but it's excellent and I like it, so I buy it.
Once in a while I will buy myself flowers, mostly when I am premenstrual and want to hit people with shovels, and I will drop a little extra on a nice arrangement. But from the grocery store flower department.
So I will spend a little extra on some things, but I am still not prone to splurging in general.
I did splurge on a pair of wireless headphones recently and don't know how I ever went to the gym without them.

TP. If left to his own devices, dh will buy the absolute cheapest tp he can find. And he would sigh, deeply, when I bought the good stuff. Until I bought the kind he wanted the week he had his colonoscopy prep... Now he does not say a word about it.

My grand kids. Right now I've started getting stuff that will be hard to get the closer it gets to Christmas.
My dgd who is 3 loves Frozen and dressing up. I am going a little over-board with Elsa stuff. But I'm really enjoying this hunt !

I guess hotels, specifically at Disneyland. We still do last-minute trips when a great rate is being offered in the Anaheim area, but for our longer stays we book club level rooms because we love having access to the concierge lounge. We stayed wherever the best rate was for the first year or two, thinking we were saving money that we could spend in the parks instead. We finally splurged on the Disneyland hotel, and DH and I agreed that it was the most wonderful, relaxing vacation we've ever had. We decided we'd rather take trips less frequently and stay on Disney property than go once a month and stay off-property.
We buy real butter as well, but it's actually pretty inexpensive at Costco.

1) My hair- I get it cut every 4 weeks and colored every 8 professionally. 2) Shoes- Not the cute ones, but the ugly ones because I have heel spurs. 3) Bathing Suits- I am fluffy and I've got big girls, so I buy my suits from Lands End. 4) Make up- I love my Bare Minerals! 5) Nail Polish- I have started keeping my nails polished and I am enjoying all the new pretty colors. 6) Candles- I love burning candles, but I will buy anything that burns good and smells nice. 7) Dog food, treats and care- Got to take care of my boy

Food choices. And TV series' on Amazon. We cancelled cable, which saves us a bundle, so I don't feel guilty buying a season pass for Good Wife and Homeland.

Honeycrisp apples. They cost 1.5 times more than most other apples. I don't care. I love them and probably spend $20.00 a week for apples when Honeycrisp apples are in-season.

Shoes! I just began this $$ a couple years ago and I can't believe what a difference it makes. My feet are making me pay the figuartive and literal price for years of wearing inexpensive high heels.
Fruit! I do try to buy in season but I will splurge the food budget on fresh fruit/veggies. I have some Honeycrisp apples calling my name right now.

Like lots of others - my dogs. Between food and treats and toys and vet appointments they make out like bandits.
Travel - I try to do at least one big trip a year to somewhere I've never been.

It may sound silly but toliet paper. And then the Sara Lee Honeywheat bread. But we get at the bread outlet here so it's not as expensive as it at the store. real butter - but we don't do that very often. I still like margarin but if I am baking it's butter.

My biggest monthly splurge is my CrossFit membership. I could go to the local gym for 1/4 of the price, but not get nearly the same results. They have all these rules about their weights, and I'm not a good rule follower! Plus, I love my coaches and my friends.
I will spend money for good quality running shoes to avoid the multitude of problems I'd have if I just bought what was on sale.
This year, my biggest splurge was paying for top-quality photographers to take pictures of DD and I for Mother's Day. I do a shoot every year as a gift to myself, but this time I spent way more than I usually do for the chance to have my favorite photographers do it. It was worth every penny!

Honestly, the one that I think of all the time when stuff like this comes up is shredded cheese! We were not well off when I was a kid, my mom was a SAHM with four kids, and it was drilled into me that you bought cheese and shredded it yourself because it's a rip off to pay the manufacturer to do it for you. I tried keeping up with that for as long as I could, but now I'm a working professional with two kids in a multitude of activities, and there are just not enough hours in the day. I would rather pay someone to shred my cheese for me now than to take the extra time to do it myself. I won't criticize you for that, because for a long time, I bought the shreds to save myself some time. (They actually cost the same here as blocks most of the time.) And I still use the shreds, mostly in quesadillas, because I get the blend with four different cheeses, and on scrambled eggs because I make those when I want to be super fast. However, if you're making anything like lasagna or a casserole or a pizza and want really melty cheese, shredded at home is the way to go. I was surprised at how much better some of my dishes are with cheese I've grated. My splurges are Starbucks and my ipsy/birchbox subscriptions.

My hair, make up, shoes, clothes (not stuff in cheap stores unless I know I only need one season out of something) i.e. I would rather pay $100 for a pair of pants I know I can wear for several years and have good quality. I have bought cheaper and have them pill on me.

I don't have the time to read all of these this morning but I LOVE these types of posts!! Let's see - I spend what I'd consider a buttload of money on a skin care system for my face. I have SUPER sensitive skin and rosacea so for years it's been red and bumpy and I'm super self conscious about it. A friend of mine tried talking to me a year ago about this stuff she sells and I just couldn't justify the cost. $160 every few months is WAY more than I like to spend. But through one particularly bad flare, I broke down and bought it. SO worth the money. It's the ONLY product that's ever helped. The bumps are gone (except during that time of the month but it's still not THAT bad) and the redness has been reduced quite a bit. Dog food - my dh insists on buying quality food. Almost $70 a bag that lasts 6 weeks. I have to admit, I hate spending that kind of money on dog food...but I also know that it reduces the smell of their waste and it's a good quality...nothing but the best for my pup. Clothes & shoes - growing up I always had to have the cheapest brands. I hated it. So when I was old enough to buy my own clothes, I switched to pretty much name brand only. Not only does everything fit better but it lasts forever. Now that I can buy a lot of my clothes in regular stores (vs plus sized stores) I LOVE all the options.

Same here. In fact it's that frugality that allows us to spend more in the few areas we need or choose to do so.

I splurge on American-made jeans (they're getting harder and harder to find), all-weather leather Dooney & Bourke purses (they last forever and their style is timeless) and good shoes and classic jewelry. As far as consumables go, organic, locally grown food is a must-have.
There are lots of categories where I am frugal: I absolutely love Maybelline's Great Lash mascara. I buy my Mane n Tail shampoo from the local ag store (it's for me: I don't have a horse). And every once in a while, I score Revlon nail polish at the dollar store. I guess I'm an all-or-nothing sort of girl.

Cotton sheets with a high thread count. Makeup, skin care and salon shampoo & conditioner. Shoes. Travel. Apple computers and phones. Air conditioning! It's hot here. Fresh produce. It's interesting to see people list Starbucks. Starbucks died in Australia because it was seen as a low quality product. I liked it okay, but the coffee always seemed very weak.

I tend to agree with the adage that you get what you pay for in most things. So I have no problem justifying the cost for many purchases.
For example, I have found that to be true with undergarments. I will not wear a cheap uncomfortable bra. its worth the money to buy brands that have better materials and fit.
I would rather have fewer things than compromise on quality.
