We could always have our own thread instead of jacking the AE thread. I'm sure sleepingbooty would love to add all the freaking memes and duck videos.

Love this thread!
I agree with what you posted on the other thread about planning, to me that is so much of the fun! Choosing the restaurants, making sure you get to see the parades and shows you like, figuring out what snacks you have to eat, deciding which park to do each day, etc, etc .

Honestly all the planning is what turns me off from Disney. We’re explorers. We like to just show up and see what we might like to eat or do. I’m glad I’m not off the mark that a Disney trip is more of a planned thing. When we were in Florida we decided several things at the last minute like cape canaveral and we had fun. I try to be flexible because my husband is a $hithead when traveling and my 15 yo isn’t far off.
I wanted to go to Hawaii for our honeymoon but the travel agent advised we do two island if we were going to make the trip. Well that was more planning than I wanted. We went to Jamaica to an all inclusive. I get overwhelmed easily.

I am definitely a Disney loving pea. I’ve only been to Disneyland but hopefully we’ll make it to Disney World someday. And then Paris after that. I just put the layouts from our 2017 trip into an album and I was instantly taken back to all those fun memories. I’m in the planning stages for scrapping our 2018 trip. I love the planning! We have a tight schedule for the mornings and then it’s more relaxed in the afternoon. DD and I are trying to decide if we want to go for a quick one day trip before GE opens or wait for a longer trip in the late summer/early fall.

There are too many people for me to be comfortable doing it. A lot of our family would just show up to Disney, but they let me take the reins. I'm lucky they listened to me when I said we needed to at least plan some of it. It's still flexible on some things, but others I'm not. When we had 13 people, it was a little harder to please everyone, but it worked out. This next time I'm basically planning for my crew of 5 and then the rest can join us or not. Minus the shirts. EVERYONE MUST WEAR THE SHIRTS I MAKE.

We also drive from Kansas, so even looking at all the gas station / rest stops is fun to look back on. (It's about 21 hours driving each way, including rests for us.) We considered flying, it saves 18 hours, each way, but man it is not cheap to fly! Then getting a Lyft or whatever for going between Universal and DW, etc.

The days go by so fast and we don’t want to waste time on, “I don’t know. What do you want to eat?” Although, I don’t schedule things in a way that doesn’t allow us to stop and smell the roses. But I’m the morning we hustle. Or as they say on disboards, walk with purpose. Planning, to me, is also important because Disney is always changing. Out with the old and in with the new. I want to know what’s happening so we don’t miss anything. If there’s a new churro flavor we want it! If there’s new entertainment we want to see it!

Like you, I plan it, but don't hardcore plan every second to where we have set bathroom breaks. I have been known to get a little impatient at time, but I think I'll be much calmer next time when everyone decides right before our Space Mountain FP to GO TO THE BATHROOM WHEN WE ALREADY HAD THE CONVO AND EVERYBODY SAID NO. We are already early morning people, so that part isn't a push with any of us (yet) and being there before the big crowds is amazing. I've been over to the disboards, but have never signed up to comment. They are the ultimate fans for sure and I love going there to find good info, especially about all the changes coming. I even have the DW and Universal apps on my phone to check the crowds. When are you going back?

We were thinking a quick one day trip in late April but that’s hard because we know we wouldn’t feel satisfied without going to California Adventure. We know that anytime after GE opens there will be super high crowd levels but are hopeful they will be a bit better the week after Labor Day. We went during that week in 2017 and while the humidity was absolutely wretched, the crowd levels were so low that we didn’t use more than one Fast Pass. We know crowds won’t be that low but hopefully not summer crowd levels. How about you? Any plans to go again soon?

We went to Jamaica to an all inclusive. I get overwhelmed easily. I used to plan everything and found I had more fun by flying by the seat of my pants. We spent 8 days at a Disney hotel, so I feel like we saw a lot of Disney, but we also took a day to go to Universal and a day for Cape Canaveral too. Funny how I remember those experiences maybe more than individual days at Disney. It was an awesome trip. We have stayed at all-inclusives in Jamaica (Negril and Ocho Rios) and they were wonderful. I like both kinds of vacations, but a beach is so much more relaxing than lines at Disney.

I should clarify I plan for WDW, but DL we totally wing it except for where we are staying and maybe a tour or special meal (Blue Bayou or Oreleans Cafe) WDW is a totally different animal and requires a lot more thought for me. The parks are too spread out to just hop around like you do in DL and then there is the whole dining reservation situation. We have always done the dining plan so you have to have that figured out. I don’t plan out where we are every minute, but I do have a plan for which park we will be on each day and when we switch parks and where we are eating at what time. Even the counter service I do plan out but am flexible on. My family laughs but I hand everyone a set of notecards when we get to the park so everyone knows where we have reservations and what time certain parades or shows are that fit our time frame for the day. We tend to split up because I ride everything and some people can’t handle all the rides. That way everyone knows where to be for meals each day. I am also the crazy person there at opening and closing, and I haven’t anyone that can hang that long with me. Some of my family went in December and I asked them before they left where they were eating, if they were going to the Christmas party etc and they had no clue. I would have been nuts. To me part of the fun is deciding all that stuff. When they got back they lamented to me, unprovoked, that they missed knowing where to be when and missed some of the restaurants I had chosen last time becuase they weren’t able to get reservations. They also said they made several “rookie” mistakes and wasted a lot of time Park hopping. I asked them if they saw the trees at Disney Springs and they didn’t even know what I was talking about even though they were there the first day of their trip. They were bummed to have missed them when I showed them pics from online. I tell you, I would hate to miss something like that which is why I like planning ahead.

Here for ALL the memes and duck videos (I should totally take a photo of the ducks at DLP when I return in honour of this thread)! I should start a scrappy + Disneyland Paris Insta account to share some silly stuff with the Peas.
I plan the basic outline in advance because when you go for each themed season of your Disney park, you kind of want to get the seasonal entertainment done no matter what. But we go without kids so it's pretty easy for us: pick when (and from where) we watch the special seasonal parade, which extra events we wish see and then build a vague itinerary and make a restaurant reservation around that. Currently fastforwarding through the Pirates and Princesses Festival parades + sing and dance-off to decide where it's most likely to be a good and easy viewpoint (we've decided to be on Team Pirates this year). I think I've identified the good spot already.
Skellinton Replying to your post in the AE thread right here so we don't keep clogging up that convo. The lines at DLP are ok provided you avoid the summer months and second half of December. You'll still get major lines on weekend days at the hot rides. But if you can plan your trip to go during the week and check one of the affluence calendars Disneyland Paris blogs put out there (calculated taking into account public holidays + school holidays in the countries most DLP visitors come from), you should be able to figure out a few "blue" or even "green' affluence days to go enjoy the park when it's easy and mostly empty. We had crazy empty lines last time we went in January: less than 5 minutes for Pirates of the Caribbean, 15 for the Twilight Zone Tower of Terror, nobody in front of us in the single rider line for Ratatouille (never happened before), etc.
Anybody else struggling to find a pastel-y line to document their Disney adventures? My photos simply don't work with the Simple Stories Say Cheese products. At all. Any new Disney park-themed stamp sets out there? I was hoping to see something from Everyday Explorers but nothing so far.

I was just looking at the In a Creative Bubble shop and I think she has some Disney-ish printable stuff that wasn't strong colors sleepingbooty but that was just a few PL cards, not a whole line. She has magical/theme park brush/digi stamp sets too. I'm starting to look more closely at the options in Tokyo and starting to see why DisneySea might be the better option for us. We've already been to Disneyland. We don't care for the characters or the pure Disney aspect of the park, and we're much more likely to revisit the park in CA and eventually WDW than to get back to Japan ($.$!) so I think the uniquely Japanese DisneySea experience would be the best bet for our money. My nephew only needs some churros to be happy, whatever shape they are. Hubby and BIL will be satisfied if they can drink some alcohol. And SIL and I will get the most fun out of people watching, especially twinning/coordinating couples. I guess it doesn't matter where we go!

sleepingbooty My sister and her family are coming to visit in July. I have never been to Disney Paris but we purchased tickets and hotels to go as a surprise for her 2 children. I would love any tips that you could share. My French is limited to very basic pleasantries but I spoke with several of my co-workers who told me it is not necessary in the parks.

I love WDW and found that my family is much happier if we go when they are having one of their festivals at Epcot. We park hop and mainly plan to do our eating there at the festival food stands. We are foodies so doing tastings and sharing food is our cup of tea. I haven’t preplanned a meal in the last few years. We stay on property and use their transportation.
Now I go down several times a year since my DD2 is working in AK. Sometimes that makes planning harder since we work around her schedule and if she will be able to admit us to the park that trip. She is our transportation to other area parks too. My last trip was solo and I loved it. I wandered around various resorts and the parks to view their holiday displays while DD was working. It was really fun to go at my own pace, i saw and did things that as a family we tend to skip over. I highly recommend it.
At this point I’m not sure which I have more of, disney themed scrapping items or Disney trips to scrap!

It's funny how they appreciate it even when they look at you like you're nuts, right? Some of my family said they didn't want to "over research" and leave some stuff to be surprised by, but reading about it online is not the same as experiencing it. A little research, even just about basics, goes a long way IMO. I love that you gave them note cards. I took a screenshot of our FP and text it to them. I didn't plan any meals last time (we didn't stay on property), but this time will be totally different and I'm hoping to get one ADR at Akershus. I know it's expensive, but knocking out our missing princess visits in one possible go is a real incentive. Plus 8AM EPCOT entrance on non-EMH day.

I've never listened to a podcast, so I'm not sure if I'd enjoy it, but I certainly read on their website! I think I use them, Undercover Tourist, Touring Plans, and the Disboard to read up on stuff. It was nice to use all of them to try to come up with our dates before they actually released their own crowd calendars for 2020.

Any new Disney park-themed stamp sets out there? I was hoping to see something from Everyday Explorers but nothing so far. I couldn't help myself and snagged some of the newer Say Cheese 4 stuff from ACOT, like the "Worth the Wait" paper. I also snagged Shimelle's "Head in the Clouds" papers. Although when I did my 2017 album, I used a hodgepodge of collected papers. I'm very much a "rainbow" scrapper, so just one certain line won't work? We also did Universal as well and so some of those would be used for that part, along with more Hogwarts-esque type colors? I'd also saved the Disney PL cards from SC from years ago and used a bunch of others I'd saved specifically for the occasion. I'd also used the Shimelle line with the bears and badgers? I'd love another Disney account to follow.

It was really fun to go at my own pace, i saw and did things that as a family we tend to skip over. I highly recommend it. At this point I’m not sure which I have more of, disney themed scrapping items or Disney trips to scrap! Last time we went it was during the Flower and Garden Festival, but next time we are going during the Festival of the Arts. We are so, so excited. There doesn't seem to be as much food (for us), but we are definitely into the art. It's also our first time planning to park hop, so hopefully that will give us a little more flexibility to go back to EPCOT if we want. Wow! That's awesome your DD works there! A solo trip? I would so do that, but my family would freak. Maybe in a few years.

I was suppose to go to the Flower Festival and stay in the AKL the first week of March, but we had to cancel due to DD's work conflicts. I have only been to the Food & Wine festival and at Christmas time which EPCOT now has numerous food stalls too. Hopefully next year I can do both the Arts and the Flower festivals. I won't go to Florida between early April and early Nov because I can't take the extreme heat and humidity. Park hopping is the best, if it is too crowded in one park then just switch to another. The only problem is that you can only get FP to one park per day. The solo trip was a short 3 day trip to visit DD before Christmas since she couldn't come home this year. The family had just gone in Nov so they couldn't take off again. I was nervous about going solo but it was wonderful and very relaxing. Noone could argue about the plans I made!!!! I even took my christmas cards with me to fill out and mail from there.

I love Akershus, the food is delicious and the interactions have always been great. When we went they print out the photo of your family with Belle and give it to you before you leave. Definitely a must do for us. We have only gone at lunch though, I love the smorgasbord before the meal, but I getting in early to be able to do Frozen ride sounds tempting.

For the scrapbooking I don’t use any particular lines in my albums. I do use black paper for all the pages, but I pick papers that match the layouts I am working on. There is just too many different things going on to use one line. I bought the very first Say Cheese line but didn’t use it hardly at all. It didn’t even really match the pictures we had of us meeting Mickey.
This next trip the littles I am traveling with are only going to be there 5 days, so I am staying some days by myself if my husband isn’t willing to stay longer. Even if he does stay with me he doesn’t stay all day in the parks, so I will have some solo time. I don’t mind it at all, but I love being with the family too, but no one else can handle as much as I can and I understand that.

How about you? Any plans to go again soon? We will be back around this time in 2020. I've already started planning and collecting information. We aren't very interested in GE, so I'm hoping that will keep people away from Toy Story at least so we can ride the two new ones. GE is going to be BANANAS. I can’t even imagine what next fall is going to be like. I am personally excited about it, but scared too. I can’t believe that the stupid Avatar stuff still has lines. I haven’t seen it yet, and will definitely go when are there, but I can’t believe they made a section of the around that stupid movie that no one still cares about. GE is going to draw so many people, I can’t even fathom.

sleepingbooty My sister and her family are coming to visit in July. I have never been to Disney Paris but we purchased tickets and hotels to go as a surprise for her 2 children. I would love any tips that you could share. My French is limited to very basic pleasantries but I spoke with several of my co-workers who told me it is not necessary in the parks. It was my experience that all of the employees who work with tourists spoke English. When we walked away, they spoke French to each other. It is just like any other tourist place I have visited.
