We're September 2nd, so if I have any tips to provide, I will certainly post them! Thank you!! I'm so glad there are lots of parties before ours so we will know if LL works and what the merch is (ha ha). Good luck on your ADRs, where are you going? We booked using a Dining Plan deal, so my problem is finding TS places we all want and not taking too much time to do that because usually we are QS and go. I'm sure the heat will hinder us substantially though. We are only doing 3 park days: Animal Kingdom, Magic Kingdom (party only), and EPCOT. The day my friends arrive we are chilling at the resort during the day then I got our ADR this morning for the Snow White storybook dining restaurant. We're all very excited about that. We are doing a split stay (I will be one night at All star music) then they arrive and I join them at Kidani (OMG!! I am so excited for this. It's not a place I could afford if it were just my family but when you split the same room three ways and you're turning 50, it's good). So with split stays you can only book your ADRs one resort at a time so I have to try again tomorrow for Space 220 at Epcot. We want to go for drinks and a light dinner in the evening. I'll get us Rose and Crown for lunch. And we'll snack throughout the day at food and wine. My favorite food is the fish in chips there. I'll get the kids portion. They have a vegan option! Mushy peas. And sitting down for a whole hour. Heaven. We'll do open to close on our EPCOT day. I need to spend some more time with the restaurants at Animal Kingdom lodge to see if we want to book a res there in the evening. I was excited to see the party foods yesterday but not having plant-based options is a bummer for me. I'm so mad about this. Not one vegan or vegetarian option. So dinner at the party for us will be late and either pizza at Pinocchio's or maybe piece together some sides from Columbia Harbour House. Fingers crossed there will be something at Food and Wine. Can you use the dining plan at some TS restaurants at a resort? That would be nice.

We’re off to Tokyo Disneyland and disneysea in November. We are either stupid or crazy smart as we are at the parks the week after Halloween and the week before Christmas. So I either get both or none of the decorations etc 😂 Mind you they don’t do any ticketed parties at those parks and it is 7-5-3 day mid November which we are missing as the crowds will be insane!

This morning was my 60 day mark for ADR.
I didn't get Space 220 lounge so we will try to walk up. If it's not available, we'll just head somewhere else. I'll keep checking.
I also tried to book the Starlight Safari at Animal Kingdom Lodge with no luck.
Oh well.
It will be nice to have a relaxing dinner and chill in the pool for a while after a hot day at Animal Kingdom.

Two trips to Tokyo Disney in two years - I’ll be quite the expert 😅 We’ll be there for Minnie in her autumn outfit so I’ll have 2/4 style studio outfits which I’m excited about, but my kids are NOT interested (will still make them line up though 😂)

I'm going with another friend who's also 50 this year and another friend whose birthday is in october. I'm excited to see Minnie in her Halloween dress. And Jack! In front of the castle. Like a puppet. I will probably cry.

We've been "collecting outfits" for her and it's one of the photos we always have framed and put on our giant photo wall in the living room. We are so excited for the Autumn wardrobe. Between MNSSHP and an ADR at Hollywood & Vine, we should have a couple to choose from this time. Funny story, we were in DW when Mickey & Minnie were in their silver and purple outfits for the 100th. It was a photo spot setup where you can be photographed with them together. Well, we needed our "girl photo", so I had to ask Mickey if he wouldn't mind stepping out of the photo (after taking pics with all the kids) and the GASP that was gasped from the crowd!!! Oops. The photo is fantastic though. ^.^ I'm not even taking my kid! I'm going with another friend who's also 50 this year and another friend whose birthday is in october. That sounds fantastic. I hope it's the very best trip! Oh, wait, are you dressing up!? I know you like to do the Disneybounding type thing, right?

I am working on a dole whip outfit. My one friend will be the Grey Stuff (it's delicious!). And my other friend is going as a poison apple. I think that's all we're going to do. And that's for the party. We will have one day at Animal Kingdom and one day at Epcot and we will dress for comfort and the heat. We are bringing one fancy outfit as I have booked us the snow white dinner and we want to look cute. Do you have outfits yet?

I love the coordination but not matching. So, originally it was just my 2 youngest who were going to dress up. Then one of my kids mentioned that I should go as Loki because I have long dark hair... well, this sent me spiraling into all the outfits I could do and then which Variant? I love the President Loki, so we decided that maybe everyone else should go as Variants after they saw some of the options I was pulling up. One DD decided to go as Miss Minutes (cute dress on Her Universe) and the other DD is going in the fancier Loki dress that website also had. (They arrived today and fit PERFECTLY!) DS wanted Kid Loki, but wasn't liking his options, so I found him an OG Loki from "The Avengers" instead. DH is going as the Variant in the brown "Variant" shirt at the TVA. Mine was a little harder.. we're going in early September and the heat will be ridiculous. I needed it to be comfy and not die. I snagged some black capris and then had the brilliant idea to make a TS inspired shirt as a nod to their relationship. I have a plain black tee and I'm getting these letters from AE to put the word "Anti Hero". I have a "Loki for President" pin, too. I also have an alligator Loki magnet shoulder pet coming. I assume the kids (and possibly DH) will steal him from me at some point.

dawnnikol sounds so fun! Love it. I have two disney shirts that are my favorites right now. One has orange bird and I embroidered around it. The other says Happy Bantha Diaries, Blue Milk, product of tatoine on it. I might find something else more Animal Kingdom since that's more star wars.

Anything in particular you want to know? Off the top of my head - don’t sleep on Fantasyland! It is 1000% more magical and sweet than WDW. The Alice in Wonderland dark ride is my favorite dark ride. It’s very well done and you even pop out for an outside wander where you have a fun view of the Matterhorn, and then it winds down back to the inside. It’s our first ride of the day, every time. Storybook Canal Boats are unique to Disneyland, and just a really lovely little ride. Our It’s a Small World is an absolute masterpiece, and even if you don’t want to ride it (gasp!), you must see it all lit up at night. It’s spectacular and one of the prettiest sights in all the parks. 🥰 Casey Jr Circus Train is one of my most favorite rides. You get such cute views of Fantasyland and the boats down below, it is perfectly magical. Our castle is miniature, and not as wow-y as MK, but there is a very cool walk-through attraction inside, with peek-a-boo window scenes of Sleeping Beauty as you go through. It’s at your own pace and really worth a wander. (Up one side, climbing stairs and turrets, seeing the story as you go up and over and out the other side). It’s usually pretty quiet and empty, so if you catch a crowd, just circle back in ten minutes. It’s easily overlooked. Matterhorn is a rough ride, but very fun! I don’t love Space Mountain, but ours is a much nicer smoother ride than the WDW version. Indiana Jones is the same ride system as Dinosaur at AK, so that’s the feel of it. The theme is top notch and there’s a very cool surprise at the end that’s very Indy. Not one to miss if you’re an IJ fan!

I did splurge for the park hopper, since they are right there together. I don’t usually Park Hop at WDW since that travel time takes so long.

Okay, Downtown Disney is significantly smaller than WDW’s. But two of their hotels are *right there* and you can go explore those too. The Grand Californian has a little portal opening right in the middle of the main DTD walkway, it might not look very accessible, you really just see security check points, but you are welcome to walk straight in from there. The GC has a very nice woodsy theme, their huge foyer space us similar vibes to Wilderness Lodge. Depending on when you’re there, there’s often amazing huge confectionary displays off to the side. You can eat at The Craftmans Bar & Grill, it’s a fast service, but it’s very quiet and underused. The food is fantastic because they share a kitchen with the next door $$$$ table service. We eat there every single trip. Bring a jacket, it’s always freezing cold in there. But there’s also nice outdoor seating too. It’s neverrrrrr crowded. Best kept secret. Don’t tell anyone! 😜 You can also walk down to the Disneyland Hotel. This will require you to leave the security zone, because it’s just outside the gates of DTD, but very worth it! There are a lot of very fun displays of historic photos from the decades of Disneyland history, and sometimes props and artifacts too. Wander the halls outside the character dining Goofy’s Kitchen, roam the middle walkways outside, check out Trader Sam’s tiki bar. The gift shop at Disneyland Hotel is really nice.

honeypea So, if I'm not mistaken, both DLC and WDW have chill Space Mountain rides? Ours is so rough and has a corkscrew + loop. I've hit my head and jaw several times on the head restraints to the point that I have to mentally prepare myself before I ride it nowadays ("Keep your head glued to the seat, keep your head glued to the seat!" - my waiting line mantra). I do not recommend wearing earrings in ours, that's how bad it is. ETA: It has gotten better since they changed the cars in 2016 (or 2017?) but I'm still traumatised from years and years of super rough rides.

In WDW you are three in a row, sled seating. Only lap restraint, the back doesn’t go up very far. I thought the FL one was really rough. In DLC you are 2 in a row, side by side, proper seating. Speakers by your head. I don’t like the ride either way, but if I had to go on one I’d pick the California one.

It’s included with my annual pass, so I haven’t needed to know. I will say that it’s probably not worth it to pay for it, and I say this as someone who paid for it at WDW on every trip. There are way way fewer photographers here than in FL. And way less ride photos. Only Space & Splash (and I have no idea if the photos will still be at Splash once it reopens), and then Guardians and Cars at California Adventure. Unless those ride photos are very important to you, I’d highly recommend asking cast members (even the few photogs you might see), or other guests, to take your photos.

As a scrapbooker, the things I always make sure to pick up - at the Penny Arcade in Main Street, see the Esmeralda fortune teller. It’s right at the front. It costs 25 cents, or free if you download the Disney play app (different than the regular app). She gives you a cute paper ticket fortune that’s fun ephemera. There’s also a similar one at the jungle cruise & Indy area in that gift shop, Shrunken Ned (? I think). He gave my daughter some fashion advice. And another in the Pirates gift shop.

cbscrapperAre you getting Genie +? If so photos are included with that. Not sure if you can buy it separately. Who is going with you? How many days? Depending on age and wanting to ride together you may benefit from doing single rider lanes for the rides that offer it. Download the app and you can filter the rides in lots of different ways. I think single rider is under one of the *more* sections. For Genie+ (or what ever the new name is) note that certain rides (Rise, Radiator Racers, and...?) are not included in the general package and need to be purchased independently. Racers usually has a single rider lane, however even that can get long. But we will skip it if that's the case. Worth it if you have never been, though. Rise is 100% worth either the wait/paying extra, you choose. It does break down a lot, doesn't necessarily open at the same time as the rest of the park, and closes early sometimes so plan accordingly. Smugglers Run has single rider line but also doesn't usually have a long line, not worth a long wait if you can come back to it at a different point in your trip. We love websligers, if you are competitive watch some YouTube videos so you know what to aim at. It has a single rider line but if we can go as a group and try to get on the leader board (on the ramp as you walk out) we don't mind the wait. If you are going at opening genie+ is totally worth it. Be prepared to grab your next ride as soon as you scan the current ride. We like to take the soonest availability (semi) nearby and grab the longer waits rides later in the day. But keep an eye out as they do fill up. You can modify reservations but be mindful of the 2hr (?) window to do your next reservation even if you haven't used your current reservation yet. Compared to WDW (only been once as an adult) DLR is very compact both in space and rides. While WDW of course has a few rides that we don't, we have most and a few extra in just 2 parks vs the 4. There's also a lot of shows (depending on the schedule/time of yr). If you like shows I love going to the Royal Theater in DL. Floor seating for kids and bench seating for adults. Pre pandemic if you wait after the show till most people clear out there will be a character meet and greet. They rope off the entrances so people can not get back in. It is either Belle or Rapunzel and Flynn depending on the show. Ask a cast member if it is happening. Might depend on the specific time also. They will also have the (unpublished?) character schedule for the day. It is also available on the app map but not sure if it is everyone or just main ones. Make sure you go to the Tiki Room. I like to grab a back row seat so I can lean against something and relax. You can bring in food, dole whip or otherwise! It is a small animatronic show and a nice rest. Overall we don't have as many sit-down restaurants. We rarely eat at them preferring to ride the rides. At DCA make sure to go to the Art of Animation building for Turtle Talk with Crush and the Animation Studio where they do an art lesson. I like to bring my own smaller paper but they have large papers for you. There is a schedule on a display board for the day if you want to draw a certain character. Elsa and Anna meet and greet is in there too. Plus just a nice, cool place to sit and relax and beat the heat if needed. World of Color is my absolute favorite show. Definitely see that if it is happening while you are at DCA. You can grab virtual queue spots day of Via the app, I think at noon but check on that. They aren't necessary but nice to have. You will still want to show up early, see what time it opens. We usually grab dinner to go and then eat while we wait. Note that as it gets closer to show time they have everyone stand and squish so don't get too comfortable sitting. I like bringing a very thin baby blanket to sit on for that and the parades especially if we have a large group and need a chunk of space.

Love this!

cbscrapperAre you getting Genie +? Any of those rides not recommended for those who get motion sick?

cbscrapperI get motion sick so I take Dramamine every time I go to the parks. There's a small drop towards the end of Rise and it has a screen part (which I have a hard time with) I just close my eyes. Smugglers you get to choose if you want to be the pilot (front, make sure you have a decent pilot, ie not a very young kid), gunner (middle) and engineer (back). I always choose engineer and close my eyes if it gets to be too much with the screen.

We leave tomorrow!
I'm all packed. I just need to pop my clothes in the suitcase. I have a couple of little surprise gifties for my friends.
Really looking forward to this trip. I need a break.
When we arrive I want like 20 minutes in the pool then we're going to the Polynesian for dinner.
Everything is planned. I need to print out a few things.
I made a hilarious little book of the treats we want to eat at the Halloween party. Then I printed our faces out and punched them with a 3/4" circle punch so we can review. I found blood stickers from Halloween for gross and hearts or starts for good. I don't remember.
I'm going to make a mini book of our trip when we get back. Not sure what album but I might get a citrus twist TN size album. I have the 4X6 WITL from AE coming in my box. And the Paige Evans Halloween 4X4 but I don't think it will work for this trip as we just have the one Halloween thing going on.
I'll do that after the first of the year when I'm done with DD.
