Our governor in Florida is an idiot. He’s against mask mandates and sees no issue with packing the parks with unmasked guests. 😬 Didn’t he just appoint a quack from that “demon spawn Frontline” whatever group as the Surgeon General? 😳

In contrast, here's a 2021 Disneyland Paris walk with mask-wearing for people over age 11 wherever social distancing cannot be upheld, reduced attendance, mandatory vaccination or recent negative test pass with QR code, etc. I would be there in a heartbeat were it not for several hours of travel on the bullet train which I'd rather avoid at the moment. And France surpasses the US in vaccination rate by quite a stretch (over 75% total population, 87% eligible population). Those WDW images looked terrifying to me.

The French government allows social distancing measures to soften (mask-wearing will remain mandatory) so Disneyland Paris moves ahead with a brand new Christmas parade. For the first time, our park gets a proper day and night version! I'm so excited to see this... in 2022.
Not gonna lie, after all the efforts we've made as a collective through the pandemic so far, this feels like such a big reward. Way to go, little Disney park! (English subs available)

Here it is, our brand new Christmas parade. Pure magic. Can't wait to go back! Kudos to the most Western side of Europe who've done really well with vaccination (you need to be fully vaxxed with QR code or have a fresh negative Covid-19 test to get into the park above the age of 11) and normalising mask-wearing (still mandatory), the only reason DLP was allowed to hold a parade again by the French government. Well deserved.

I'm so excited for my daughter to see this! Just clearing up any confusion: Mickey's Dazzling Christmas parade is from Disneyland Paris (DLP). Parades are park exclusives that are developed by each park's team and aren't shared between resorts. WDW is running a reduced version of their classic Once Upon a Christmastime parade this year, refugeepea. If I'm not mistaken, that's the park your daughter is attending so she'll be seeing the following parade:

Dusting this thread off to say we're officially spending Halloween-time in Disneyland and I'm overly excited for the planning?!? We were generously gifted money for a trip at Christmas and rather than going with our usual Motel 6 on Disney Way where they knew us by name for 2 years.. we're entirely spending the week on-site and I am STOKED 🤩 I scrapped our very first 'we planned this' trip from April 2014 with the first SS Say Cheese kit that came out the summer prior where I'm almost positive I bought every single piece...and still have so many damn brads because I thought I was a brad person?? Oy We're in January and I'm over here reading food reviews from 2021's spooky foods to see what we'd eat if XYZ came back this year

I’m a planner by nature anyway but I want to be fully prepared and informed and not miss a thing on a Disney trip. Things are constantly changing so each trip requires research. Have fun planning and have a great trip!

Congratulations, jenna! Disney parks are extra magical for Halloween. It's the perfect mix of cute and spooky! You're going to have a blast. Have the best of time planning your trip and reviewing the 2021 Halloween season. I agree that Disney park visits require extensive planning and information gathering to be fully enjoyed. It really is quite a bit of work ahead but so worth it... refugeepea How was your daughter's trip? Are you scrapping her photos already? Did she enjoy the parade?

PS: Seems like my SO ordered something from Shopdisney and doesn't want me to know. It was delivered this morning and he was like: *nothing to see here vibes* "Aren't you supposed to get ready to go into the office for the afternoon anyway? Do you need help to get your laptop bag out of the wardrobe?" Dude, I saw the Disney drawing on the box. I know it's official Disney park stuff... And my birthday's coming up soon. But sure, I'll play along and pretend I've already forgotten about the mystery box you were shoving out of sight as soon as you retrieved it from the delivery guy...

That's super exciting, jenna!! Oy with the brads already! Disneyland at Halloween is special to me because that's where we went on our honeymoon and it was all decked out for Halloween.. but since Christmas is more my jam, I bought tons of Disney Christmas Village stuff. LOL! Elsabelle Exactly. Planning is part of the fun for me. sleepingbooty Haha, sounds about as sneaky as folks in my house. I'm glad you'll have something extra special to look forward to for your birthday!

Hi!
Just discovered this thread and thought I'd hop in.
I am a huge Disney fan. We first took our daughter when she was 8 and got hooked. I like to go every couple of years.
So I have a bunch of photos and I was thinking it would be fun to make an album of the trips. The first is in a travel journal as that Disney visit was part of a longer camping trip that we took.
I don't know how to go about scrapping stuff that's in the past.
Any tips or suggestions?
I think it would be easiest to put it all in one album with the trips separated by dividers.
Oh! And someone mentioned that a velvet album was coming to SB.com soon. I could get the pink one.
We are going in May if COVID allows. I could start with that and work my way back.

blemonIf it were me I'd do one album (6x8 just cos that's what I use) of older trips and the highlights from those. I like chipboard and puffy embellishments so things get chonky in my neck of the woods. My memory sucks and even with photos I wouldn't be able to remember specifics for journaling/storytelling so it'd mainly be photos of the parks and our faces lol Then for a future trip I'd do a full album on its own because I'd have more photographs (being able to get specific pictures I want because I have scrapbooking in mind) on top of bits of my journaling from in the moment. Idk if I'd be able to fit a planned trip + photos from older trips into one album, maybe if a larger album was used.

I don't know how to go about scrapping stuff that's in the past. Any tips or suggestions? I didn't really scrap my first DL trip with DH. I just didn't scrap everything back then. However, by the time we went with 2 DD's, they were 7 months old and 2. It was one day at DL and it was more than enough. I didn't scrap it, even though I was doing PL at the time. I just didn't have the energy necessary to do that. I did, however, edit all the photos and make a giant photo book. I handwrote a few notes and called it good. I do not regret doing that, even after all this time. Honestly, it was hard and some of the things I remember easily I won't forget. I did scrap the ever-living-crap out of our trip in 2017 though which had my older girls, their brother, and then 11 other family members and the 2020 trip with just my family of 5. We did DW and HPW for both of those trips, so they each took up 2 9x12 albums because I do not care if they are chunky albums. I am not a minimalist scrapper, like Booty, so they fatten up and I love it. I have a full fold out page I made into a purple box with a giant chocolate frog, along with the story of how my oldest opened her chocolate frog and that sucker had "one good jump" and it was on the ground. The tears were instantaneous. We'll never forget it, but creating the box shape and frog made me happy, even if it takes up lots of space. Anyway, I digress!! Album size always depends on the number of photos, for me, you should start there?

I am not a minimalist scrapper, like Booty, so they fatten up and I love it. I promise I'm not the worst scrapbooker out there. I have, like, 3 9x12 spreads for January 2022 in my PL album. AND an 8x12 insert. I'm trying here, I really am. *clasps hands in prayer mode* But do not make me use acrylic pieces, por favor, think of my poor lil heart... I cannot. Don't make me, please. blemon I'd round up the photos, pick the ones I really want to use, see how much journaling I can add to these and how much I actually remember from the trip and then evaluate album format, photo sizes (Disney pics are often worth of larger prints), overall space required per trip. But I do think highlights of each trip with dividers in one same album is the best way to go for older vacations. Going forward, you could totally plan out one big album for your next trip, especially if you're itching to travel and this will be your big step back out into the world. I definitely plan on using a 9x12 to document a year of annual pass when it's safe to travel regularly by train again. I'm going to go all out! Never taking my DLP days for granted ever again when this goes endemic... (And yaaas, those velvet-covered 9x12 albums by SB.com are a must!)

AAAAAaaaaahhhhhh!!!!! YES!!!
I got all of my photos from all of our trips off my phone, the cloud, and my backup drives.
It took a while but it was actually pretty easy. I know for one of the trips I actually printed them all out like a crazy person (like nearly 300 photos 4X6 that have been sitting in the Walgreen's envelopes for years -- it was when they had that sale like 1 cent each).
So our first trip was in 2016. We were doing a long camping trip to Fl and I had saved up all of my disney points from my credit card for like 15 years so we actually didn't pay much at all for the 4 days.
Then we just loved it so much the next year we surprised my daughter and went for her birthday. Stayed at Port Orleans Riverside.
The next year my mom wanted to go and she had a timeshare so we only had to pay our tickets. My SIL and her family joined us so it was so fun.
That same year I went with my friend at Christmas just the two of us. We splurged and stayed in one of the rooms at the Contemporary that are in the back next to the lake. Just three nights. I already scrapped that in a mini book that I put inside my DD.
And then in 2021 we went and it was kinda awful but I still got good photos. We stayed at POP and it was rad so that's where we're staying again. Never again July unless we get park hoppers and have a lot of time. One park per day two days total, no. No way.
It's a 14 hour drive for us so it's manageable. Not easy. We don't usually do it all at once (maybe the ride home).
So that's my adult Disney history. Not that you needed it but I am so freaking excited to start playing with this.
I'm getting the mint green velvet 9X12 cause I've never used that size before and for some of this I want BIG photos. I'm getting the page protectors that have 4 different styles and will probably pocket the heck out of it. I searched Disney on scrapbook.com and am adding a few papers to my cart. I know I won't use the Disney embellishments like the simple stories line because I know enough about my style. I have enough stuff but I wanted just a couple of mickey things.
I think I will start with this our 2021 trip. I might have some ephemera around still. Not sure.
That is what I'm missing. I like including all that -- maps and napkins and like all of it.
Sorry for all this. I just hadn't thought this was possible but it is. Just looking through the pics got me so excited.

blemon Your excitement makes me happy! That's going to be a lot of fun to document. I like ephemera too and thank my past self when I find something I tucked away and forgot about. "Why, yes, I did mean to tuck away my HP movie theater tickets in this book from 15 years ago..." Our next trip is planned for November 2022... really, really hoping we can go. Between CV and all the changes at DW.. it's definitely different to plan. Then there's the whole "you might plan this and it all go down in flames! HAH!" aspect.. your post got me excited to go back to the Disboards to feel around though.

your post got me excited to go back to the Disboards to feel around though. Thanks! We are going to HS (Star Wars) for the first time. We are big fans so plan to spend most of the day there. I'm going to try to find some ephemera on eBay. I wonder if that is weird. I follow the Disboards on facebook when I have a trip planned. I love to read all the ranting about every little change. People don't like change, especially at Disney.

There's nothing that will put a smile to my face like going through my DLP pics. I know Disney isn't for everyone but for those who do enjoy this universe, the theming and atmosphere in Disney parks is unparalleled. I'm so, so happy for you. You are going to have a blast documenting your old trips as you plan for your new one. ETA: Saw this on IG yesterday and saved it for you, blemon. Ah, that sucks. But at least your Etsy bro didn't charge you too much for those freebies? (trying to find the silver lining here) Not gonna lie, with the construction happening at the Walt Disney Studios in DLP and the mega expansion, I'm going to need to use the map too when I finally return to the park. For the first time in forever, I'm going to risk getting lost in our little resort.

I didn't keep anything and I want a little bit of ephemera for when I do the older pages. We were there in July and I found some for March and October. I don't think they change enough for it to matter.
