There is no way I could fit enough Disney photos in a mini album like that!

Cute because they are mini. I have not been to Disney since I was a kid but think these miss the mark. I think most scrapbookers have tons of photos for Disney so they wouldn't fit. Maybe for a true minimalist. Maybe if you go for just one or two days? It is cute. I've only been to WDW so I'm not sure but I don't think that royal blue would work for my Disney pics. I feel like the colors are more of a retro vibe than primary colors. And you all know my beef with the yellow, red, and black color scheme of 95% of the Disney collections out there. But I might be taking a short trip in March. If I buy bigger rings, this might be fun. I know I complain endlessly about ring albums but the cover is too cute.

Ya'll, my Ravenclaw heart exploded when I saw you could get BRONZE and blue papers from SB.com: Wizarding World Paper Pad. They have them for each house and in 12x12 or 6x6 sizes at reasonable prices. Thank you for posting about this! I’ve only seen the Echo Park collections so I decided on my favorite and some individual papers from the other 2 lines. But there were about half a dozen pages from Scrapbook Customs that I can’t wait to get my hands on.

We just got back last night from our partial family reunion trip to Disneyland and California Adventure. We had a great time. We were there for Monday through Friday last week. The Halloween decorations were delightful in Disneyland, and the crowds weren’t bad till Friday. Most fans of Nightmare Before Christmas will probably love the overlay of Haunted Mansion. World of Color is gorgeous. We loved Rigers the Musical, and we had a great time overall! DH and I hadn’t been back to Disney since we went there on our honeymoon nearly 50 years ago. Things were obviously a bit different from our honeymoon visit.
Among other things, DH and I both took our personally owned (medically necessary) mobility scooters.
For anyone with a family member who may need a mobility scooter to survive such a trip, Disney does have scooters to rent, although at Christmas, they can run out.
We noticed many different types of rental scooters from different companies. The ones Disney has to rent are bigger and not as nice as some of the smaller ones (similar in size to ours) from other local companies.
For those who own their own mobility scooters, if you are flying, most (possibly all) airlines will let you take them with you for free. You can take them right to the gate and check the mobility scooters there, then pick them up at the gate on the other end. Make sure you check with the agent at the gate for the proper tags. When you check your luggage, you do not need to check your scooter there, but you will need to let them know the weight of your scooter.
Warning: If you own or rent a scooter, and are attending California parks, the hotels may not allow you to keep them in your room due to fire codes. However, scooters need to be charged up every night, and the rental agreements, even if you rent from the hotel, say that the hotel staff are not responsible for making sure they are charged up at night, which is stupid and can leave you in the lurch. The hotel neglected to charge ours one night. DH has heart failure, so walking was absolutely not an option for him, and the hotel manager (a different one from when we checked in) refused to take responsiblity or pay us back for the scooter we had to rent for him, even though our scooters are medically necessary and personally owned, not rentals, and the first manager at check in had promised to make sure they would be charged up each night.
Other than the scooter issue the one day, we had a great experience at our hotel and at the Disney California parks. We had a fabulous time on the rides, had fun pin trading, spent too much but came back with fun souvenirs, and came home exhausted. We just got back late last night.

I can't wait to hear more about it. What were your favorite rides, foods, all that? Did you do the Halloween party? That's a real dream of mine for one day.

Our favorite ride in Disneyland is Rise of the Resistance, but we’re Star Wars geeks. However, that ride is just so much fun, even if you aren’t big on Star Wars. DH can’t go on certain rides due to his pacemaker, but he was able to go on Guardians of the Galaxy (California Adventure) and loved it. I got to cuddle our youngest grandbaby while her parents rode it with DH. In California Adventure, I loved the Radiator Springs Racetrack. I don’t do roller coasters, but our sons loved the Incredicoaster. My favorite places to eat in Disneyland were Cafe Orleans (expensive, but fabulous food, and I loved their mint julep with lighted souvenir “ice cube”,which I brought home), Bengal Barbecue, and Wine Country Trattoria in California Adventure. Most of us built droids. I wanted to have a droid party in the lounge at our hotel, but we never really had time. The fireworks show the first half of the week was fabulous! It changed to a Halloween theme our last night, but DH and I were exhausted and didn’t stay to watch it. We went back to our hotel to get some much needed sleep, but right before we left, we bought a few 2023 Christmas ornaments. They went in our carry on bags and made it home just fine. Oh, and they have some really fun souvenir popcorn buckets. I got the Mickey train conductor popcorn bucket.

Glad you had a great time. We're you able to get DL to work with you on your food/dietary needs? That sounds crazy about the hotel and the scooters. I can possibly see where 2 scooters **could** potentially create an egress issue. BUT if it's medically necessary, and after explaining that they should have allowed 1 scooter in the room. (If the issue is egress, how the F@$#& is a person with mobility impairments/limits going to exit the room/hotel in case of a fire? They have mobility issue to start with!) We've stayed on property in DL and no ones has any problem with my husband taking his scooter to the room. (of course we only have 1 scooter), but they've NEVER told us there was any issue. I think I might contact the hotel parent company and/or ADA to see if that's correct. Otherwise glad you had a great trip and a great time!

DH is going to respond to the survey the hotel chain sent. We felt that WDW did a better job on meeting DH’s dietary and egress needs than DL did, although one DL restaurant did a good job. It was the restaurant that Pirates of the Carribean goes around. It also was rather expensive, but the food was fabulous!

scrapnnana Thank you for the heads up about the scooters! We were wondering how that worked so we’ll call our resort ahead of time to see how they handle them. Not 100% certain if we’re getting one or not. I have arthritis and back problems, but my bigger issue is I get faint in the heat and humidity. And the last time DH broke his leg like it is now it took over 6 months to heal. We have 9 or 10, but he’s quite a bit older so fingers crossed! Have any of you subscribed to the Disney kits from Whole Kit ‘N Kaboodle? I took a class from her ages ago at the Great American Scrapbook Convention and really enjoyed it. It was actually a Disney class and I also like the pages I’ve seen on the website. But the embellishments from my class were way too thick and I’m wondering if that’s still the case. It’s hard to tell with photos. Also, are they Magic Kingdom centric? We are only hitting 3 parks this time and MK is probably going to be the one to get cut.

It also was rather expensive, but the food was fabulous! Glad at least they could help. Blue Bayou is cool (and pricey). We find the food options are much, much better and more plentiful for us in WDW. That said, there are certain things we LOVE in DL. The food just isn't one of them. That is messed up on the hotel. what they do with someone who is completely mobility device dependent? Some of the electric scooter, depending on their needs can be a decent size. Do they not let them take it to their room? I really, REALLY, would contact someone with the hotel chain. I understand historic hotels/buildings can't accommodate mobility devices without severe changes or even destruction of the building, but I'm going to guess you weren't staying at historic property which leaves them little to no justification. (I have problem with seeing those with a legitimate disability being taken advantage of , mistreated, or being discriminated against for what amounts to no good reason. - You can only imagine the number of times Airlines have "forgotten" my husband, left us, lost his scooter, damaged his scooter, and one time even once COMPLETELY destroyed it.) But the most important thing is, you had a good time, a good trip and got do do what you wanted.

I can see how an argument could be made for MK though, especially with limited time. Not an easy choice for sure.

I hadn’t heard of them before, either. They have some very nice Disney themed pages. I did see some that were rides and not necessarily just Disneyland.
I also love the Disney themed titles from Paper Wizard.

mehardy, I am sorry to hear that your husband has been so badly treated by the airlines. I’m also shocked that they damaged and even destroyed one of his ECV’s. That’s horrible! Did they replace it? DH and I both have mobility issues. Mine are a result of multiple accidents over the years, and walking can be very painful. I got my scooter about two years before DH did, when it was obvious that he was struggling to push my wheelchair at a Renaissance Fair (not paved). My DH was disabled a few years later, by a severe heart attack that he miraculously survived. Not all disabilities are visible to others. Usually we only need our scooters if a lot of walking is necessary (for DH, that’s at most 2 blocks), and we have used them almost exclusively for local outings. Having scooters allows us the freedom to get out and live life rather than be home bound. Our first major trip with our scooters was by car to WDW last fall. It was so exhausting to drive (it’s 24 hours, whether we go to DL or WDW) even though we took 3 days to drive each way, that I didn’t think we’d do it again. Then, after our adult kids decided to have a family reunion at Disneyland, we found out we could take our ECVs on the plane for free. This was our first trip by plane with our scooters. It was probably also our last, even though it went fairly well overall. We love Disney, but we’re an older couple with health challenges, and traveling has been getting harder every trip, no matter what.

But, we haven’t been to AK before, and HS has our must do rides. What’s funny is that we aren’t likely to do the safari (zoos make us sad), but we are really into shows and AK has some must see shows, plus Pandora. (Is that what it’s called?). And the biggest reason is that MK is the most young children centric and that’s hard for us. We don’t want to go to the happiest place on earth to be depressed!

No, and it kills me! But it’s a huge family vacation so I didn’t get to pick the dates, otherwise that’s exactly when we would have gone. I think EPCOT is what most of them will skip, and I don’t understand. Our resort is right by the international entrance to EPCOT and I’m super excited about that!

I know it adds to the cost but it might actually be worth it since you're so close. We are hoping to go in March for an event but just learned it will be the very first days of Flower and Garden and I guess the booths are super crowded then with all the press people and bloggers and stuff. I am not looking forward to that.

I am not looking forward to that. I've heard that, too. Stupid social media people! I do love Flower & Garden though. I'm betting with as organized as you are though, you'll totally make it work. My Disney spiral yesterday was seeing their promo for Dining and then doing the math on our trip and dates and how they would line up for the promo and if it would be worth it. (It wasn't) Then I saw a link about flights (we drive) and went down that rabbit hole even though I hate flying. Easily decided taking an 8+ hour layover in Colorado was NOT a good idea and will continue with our original plan to drive. I felt like a crazy person telling DH about it all later. He's used to it though.

I'm betting with as organized as you are though, you'll totally make it work. That's like the nicest thing anyone has ever said to me on these boards! Yeah, I love Flower and Garden. And all the topiaries will be up. And we don't eat all the foods. I'm going to do some reading about it. It might not even be open while we're there since they haven't released dates yet. I'm just going off what I read. I think it is always good to do the math with those sorts of things (dining and flying). It just feels better knowing you made the right decision because you did the research. I'm driving down. I'll have to stay in a hotel alone once on the way there and once on the way to my work event. I can't afford two flights and my car gets great gas mileage. I'm not going to do the math because the hassle of all the travel and layovers and flights will just be too much. So I'm driving. The kid will fly to Orlando on her own. She's 15 so no biggie. I'll pick her up at the airport and take her back there so she will only miss two days of school. And since they have odd/even schedule, she'll only miss one day of each class. And heck, in March, there might even be a snow day so who knows.

No trouble. The airline did replace his scooter. This was fall 2021, so during all the shipping backlog and shortages so we ended finding the type of he scooter he had (three wheel) and then the airline paid for it. My husband's back was injured many years ago when he trained for the Olympics in Fencing and Modern Pentathlon. He can walk and stand just not all day and not back-to-back-to-back days. He switches between riding, parking it for a bit and walking around , maybe a country or two in Epcot. Then,I usually grab his scooter and we go off to the next. But, yes to look at him you'd think he's not "disabled," but he is. He can just function well with certain modifications and adjustments. But there is NO WAY he could go to Disney without his scooter. We always fly. With all our issues (food, meds, & scooter, etc.) it just takes planning. But I understand what you mean, it takes a certain amount of work and time for the pre-planning. We're going in November to WDW using our canceled hurricane party tickets from last year to do Very Merry Christmas Party and then on a whim decided to go to the new party Jollywood Nights. In fact I just booked our dinning reservations the other day.

We are going to the first night so everything will be new and a "adventure." There are 2 limited events inside the event, a Brown Derby cocktail party and a Twilight Zone "Tip Top Club" cocktail party. We're hoping to go to the Twilight Zone one. No idea how it works so we're hoping cast members will know more in advance so can ask them and can plan. It'll be fun no matter what.

We live in the middle of the USA, so DL and WDW are close to the same distance to travel. Having been to both WDW and DL within the past 14 months, I think that if we visit one or the other again, it would be WDW, for the following reasons:
DL and California Adventure were a lot of fun, but we had more to choose from at the 4 WDW parks as far as rides and other things that DH and I could do, without feeling deprived. WDW did far better at meeting DH’s dietary restrictions (diabetes and cardiac) than DL did, and the food they fixed for DH at WDW was better in general than what he got at DL, although Blue Bayou at DL was fabulous. WDW has more restaurants with actual chefs, and they seemed to be better chefs than those at DL. Third, I felt they also treated DH better overall with regards to his disabilities at WDW. At WDW, DH was given Disability Access. DL gave him Location Return Time instead, but not all rides offered LRT.
One other advantage to WDW: they are near Harry Potter World, where we also spent a day before returning home last fall. We thoroughly enjoyed the Harry Potter experience, and would love to visit there again.

blemon Just saw this as I was catching up on D23 stuff: Apparently it's $55 and going to be at Festival of the Arts. (I'm going, so let me know if you are interested.)
