mehardy , I’m glad they at least replaced your ECV! I also hope that you have a great Jollywood experience! We're very glad they replaced the EVC too! LOL! Thanks so much. I'm sure Jollywood Will be great. I think WDW does Christmas better than DL, but I think DL does Halloween way better than WDW. Your comment on the Chefs and food in WDW, we 100% agree. I think having more sit-down restaurants helps in that they have to have more chefs and they have more food options to work with to accommodate. I can't believe your husband didn't get a DAS at DL! That's crazy and totally shocking!

blemon Just saw this as I was catching up on D23 stuff: I love that! I'm so tempted but I need a much bigger bag than that in the parks. Did I post the one I made on here?

agreed- craftymom101- if you have an affiliate link post it! That as a gorgeous kit. I bought a lot of that in preparation for our Disney trip, and have an iris container just waiting for me once i get pictures printed I am so looking forward to another trip, but I'm trying to hold off until the Nintendo world opens in Universal (2025) or at least until late 2024 when the Tiana's bayou opens. I wish we lived closer and could make weekend trips.

I finished my first three pages using the NJFB Magical Memories kit! Really fantastic! You made those "standard" colors really work with the photos. The castle with the sequins is my fav, but that chevron paper piecing is excellent, too.

Please tell us all about this when you return. It looks pretty amazing. I Definitely will. We are going to the first night so everything will be new and a "adventure." There are 2 limited events inside the event, a Brown Derby cocktail party and a Twilight Zone "Tip Top Club" cocktail party. We're hoping to go to the Twilight Zone one. No idea how it works so we're hoping cast members will know more in advance so can ask them and can plan. It'll be fun no matter what. Have you already gone and come back or getting ready to leave? I just booked our ADRs and had to check to see if any other Peas were due for their trips. ^.^

I am back!
Jollywood was a sh*t Show. I say that as a HUGE Disney person and knowing 1st night of anything is always going to be a bit crazy and there will be things you didn't anticipate, other things you think will work that don't. I've done event planning so I get it.
That said......if you were already in the park there was 1 spot to get wristbands - (the theatre where they do the frozen show on Echo Lake) the one went back to the tunnel into galaxy's edge. The wait was 45-55 min. It looked like a bad line for Rise of the Resistance. That was a shock because if you go to any of the Magic Kingdom Xmas or Halloween parties there are 3 places to get wrist bands you might wait 10-12 minutes at max. You get your band, map, whatever goodie they're handing out and done!
Character offers for a special event were super disappointing. Of course you need to have the fab 5 - it's a must and a given. But then they had Frozone and Edna Mode - who are out on a daily basis and you can see with low line during any day. They had Chip & Dale Rescue Rangers - who had been out earlier this year on a daily basis in Hollywood Studios. And Phineas and Ferb who are more unique. - from other people they're saying that was 2 hour wait! (That's 2 hours of a 4 hour party)
Brown Derby was crazy. So you have to get on the walk-up list for the special party and you have to use the my Disney app. The list opened at 8:15 pm. Except you couldn't just open the app and tr and get in, like with regular dining reservations or a virtual queue, you had to go to the Brown Derby get up to the front and scan a QR code and stay in that area for it work. So the Brown Derbt Basically got mobbed by people.
The Twilight Zone Tip Top Club, they brought out a typical cart for the bar . Line not really defined/organized. Courtyard looked cute.
Waits for treats, which weren't as unique as Magic Kingdom's Very Merry party, were long. To get the Gerti Dino cookie was around 30 min. wait. - Which is crazy.
Overall a lot of the cast didn't know what was going on. (They had never done this event, not their fault.) They were 100% trying to do their best, but it's hard when they don't have the information.
I think the biggest problem was too many people. I get they need to make profit on the event. But it's soooooo many people it's almost harder to get around than during the day. But especially that this was 1st and they had to know this was a trial run they should have capped attendance much lower.
We and our Neighbors who will also there, ended up leaving really early and getting our tickets refunded from guest services, which was a shock. Because that basically NEVER happens. THey'll give you a credit for a future event or what not, but you don't get money back unless it's something super extrordianey and we got a refund without basically any argument.
I'm sure they'll be making a lot of changes before the next party, but I personally would not recommend going this year, unless you get have free tickets.
That said, we otherwise had a great trip and a great time! Rode Tron for the 1st time and Moana the journey of water - also super cute and fun. Did Food & Wine festival - which is always a favorite.
One of our favorite dining is the skipper Canteen in the Magic Kingdom. It has some amazing food. A little hint of Boma African, a little hint of Indian and little bit of Asian. Nothing too crazy, but different than the typical stuff. If you're looking for something nice and a little different I highly recommend it!

I've read similar reviews of Jollywood nights. I hope they fix it. It looks like it has a lot of potential. I'd love to do it next year.
I also read a review saying the only decorations in Brown Derby was a garland over by the piano. That's a crime. Disney usually goes all out on their decor.
I'm so glad you got a refund.
I'm planning my outfit for next year. Ha!

Jollywood was a sh*t Show. Your review is spot on what I read on "Disney Food Blog" (I get their e-mails...keeps the FOMO real ) and they even sugar coated their review because, hey, they are making money out of encouraging people to go to Disney, but you could read that there were real crowd, character and experience problems! I hope they fix them because Disney at Christmas is on my bucket list for the next couple of years. Thanks for the update!

Disney is STILL great at Christmas! It's a favorite! The decorations are still great. The parks are still awesome. The hotels look good! The special holidays treats are fun and yummy. I LOVE it! Absolutely! (And Halloween) Our plan is to go next year in December.
If you decide to go for Very Merry Christmas party, it defiantly gotten a LOT more crowded than when I first started going. The parade is great and the fireworks awesome! But it is CROWDED. My advice would be pick certain snack you want to try, a couple characters you want photos with and a any special ride versions. Get there as soon as party guests are allowed to enter 3 or 4 pm. Then Divide and conquer. Somone stand in line for character photos, someone else go get specific snacks. And if there's a really popular character you want, get in line EARLY. The princess line (2 princesses and their princes) was 100 minutes! We lucked out because the characters I wanted (?Ariel in human form with Prince Eric and Tiana with Prince Naveen) somehow got left off the app the first night. So unless you knew they were going to be out and where they were most people didn't know and that made their lines completely doable. But have a plan it's impossible to do it all. If you've never done it, it is STILL worth doing. I still love it. It's a lot of fun.
It was just Jollywood Nights that was not good. And it's a shame because it's great idea! But they need more to do/eat/drink and then spread those things out more. I do hope they fix it, but Hollywood Studios is the smallest, (square footage) of the 4 WDW parks. That you can't change. And if tickets already sold I'm not sure how much they can cut down the number of attendees. I'd personally rather see them bring back something like Villain Nights.
I saw some of the reviews, which was somewhat comforting, because you're at least seeing, it wasn't just us saying and seeing problems. I'll be really curious to see the feedback from the next couple events.

I was getting flashbacks to when we did the Christmas Tour at Universal Orlando. /cringe. We all know opening night can have hiccups, but that sounds like insanity. I'm so glad you got a refund. I'm waiting (im)patiently for freaking Festival of the Arts updates, beyond the dates being confirmed. Maybe next week. ^.^

I’m not sure if this fits here, but since this thread is also about Universal Studio/Harry Potter theme parks, maybe it’s okay to mention this:
The Harry Potter Forbidden Forest Experience seems to be touring the nation. We saw reviews of it being put in in Northern Virginia, so when it came to DFW area of Texas, DH got tickets for us. It was a bit expensive, but considering the set up, I can see why they charged what they did. The lights, sound effects, music (the latter two used sound and speaking parts from the HP movies) were well done. They had opportunities to do “magic”(including a eizard’s duel), along with photo ops throughout your Forbidden Forest walk. It was very extensive. We arrived at 8:45 p.m., and we were there for three hours.
We had fun doing it, so if it comes to your area, you may want to consider it. And yes, I got some fun photos for me to scrapbook.

We just got back from Disney 2 days ago... the Mickey's party was insane. People started lining up at 3pm to get in for 6pm. Camped on the ground! We were at MK that day and leaving at 3 when we saw the massive lines waiting. I've been many times and it's great but I wouldn't wait in line 3 hours to go!

If you have a ticket to the Christmas party, you can enter the Magic Kingdom at 3pm. You get some bonus time in the park before the party starts.

So I had planned to start my 50th out months in advance by going to Disney World in March for Adventureland Day. Then my friend lost her job as one of the many faculty to get fired at WVU as a result of "academic transformation."
So our trip is on the back burner because she needs to find a job and all the bs that comes with possibly moving.
I suggested that if she gets a job and is feeling good about it, we should go in May so she can be in her most favorite place on her last day of work (after 22 years, mind you).
So we started planning for that.
And then today my other friend offers for just the two of us to go in March for just one day so that we can do Adventureland and start our 50ths off right (hers is before mine). Flights aren't too bad. I have enough points on my Disney visa to pay for the ticket. Two nights in the room is doable, especially split. We'd stay as value as possible.
So anyway. Super torn. I really want to go in March but even though it's not too bad $$, it's still $$$.
I guess I'm rambling but I know this group would understand.

My completely unsolicited opinion is that you go. I know the May trip might not happen, but the March trip definitely could. I don't mean to be all doom and gloom, but with the way things are I say you seize every opportunity you can to brighten it up. If you can swing it, do it. We moved our trip in 2024 from Autumn 2024 in DL to January 2024 in DW, partly because the travel/park size difference, but a lot of it had to do with either we were going in early 2024 or not at all. I refuse to set travel plans end of summer - winter 2025 because I think election time is going to be bananas. We've even changed our hotel, which cost a bit more money, just for a little extra pixie dust this time around. I absolutely realize you can make it a magical trip by not spending more money, but it made sense for us and we have that ability right now. Regardless of what you choose, I hope you get back in 2024. <3

craftymom101 - adorable page, so bright and cheerful and just right for the start of a Disney day. Hello, my name is Kirsten, and I'm a photoholic. Discovered tonight that our 10 day Florida (universal/disney) trip netted me 5000 photos. On my phone and from photopass. There are more from the kids' phones and DH's phone that I haven't scooped yet. I have started the editing process and I feel oh so overwhelmed. I am guilty of taking 10 photos every pose, not just 1, because I want to get the right angle and make sure no ones eyes are closed. Even with photopass, the photographers gift you with at least 5 photos per spot. But now for each photo I have to decide which of those is the best! I'm hoping persnicketey prints has a black friday sale so I can scoop up credits for later printing. I think 5000 photos warrants a high quality print job. Where do you get your photos printed after a special trip? I've heard BAD things about every place, and I don't know where to turn. Costco photo was a huge loss for Canadians!

Welcome to the group. I like to keep up with the amount of photos taken each trip to write it down in the album somewhere. I also write the number of edited since I'm the one taking the time to do it all, I want to document the number. Sometimes it is super hard to choose though. I always order from Persnickety for my Disney trips. MPix is closer to me, but they don't do all the sizes like Persnickety. If I notice a sale, I'll try to remember to come post about it. Do you want to share a trip report with us, too? We're all ears.

I am guilty of taking 10 photos every pose, Welcome! I know it's too late but maybe you can still do this. When I'm on a trip, I pretty much only use my phone but I'm like you and take a million photos of each thing just to get it right. Every night when we're back in the room, I take a few minutes and organize the photos from each day into folders. If we go to a park more than once, I'll make sure to label each album really well. Not just EPCOT but EPCOT day 1, something like that. When I get home, I move those photos to my computer by folder instead of all at once. Then within each folder, I organize again: morning (like photos of us on the bus or skyliner and walking to those things) then ride by ride, or attraction, or whatever. Most importantly, each folder starts with a number so they are in my computer chronologically. This makes it so much easier to sort through when I'm going to print. I have no recommendations for where to print as I print at home while I'm making the layouts. I'm sure it's more expensive but sometimes I want a full-page photo and others just 3X4s. And yes, please share a trip report! I am planning a trip with friends and we aren't going until May.

It took me a long time to find this thread! But there is a new Disney line: www.acherryontop.com/shop/company/echo_park/line/a_magical_voyageThey have yet to get the memo that we don't like scrapping Disney in these colors. However, if you do, there isn't much "cruise" stuff in this. So if you like the 12x12 sticker sheet, you'd only toss about 3 of the stickers and the rest are pretty applicable. I do like the washi. Really hoping Simple Stories gives us some Epcot this year.

Stop with the Snow White colours and give us the emeralds of merida, teals of Aladdin, purples of tangled etc!!!
