I am a northern woman. Montana, North Dakota, then Minnesota.
But when I travel to a southern state I HAVE to stop at the first Waffle House I see!
Its just fun and unique.
What types of "northern" places do you like to go to when you travel to our neck of the woods.
I realize its a huge country and im being simplistic when I refer to the South and the North.

That is funny-Waffle Houses are so common in my area, I literally have 3 within walking distance of my house.  I don’t get to go to the Northern US as much as I used to but when I am in the north, I must get some authentic cheese curds. |

I used to be that way with Waffle House too! But now I've moved to the heart of Waffle House country and pass probably five of them just on my way to work. There is nothing particularly northern that I crave that I can't get here, just local stuff from where I grew up.

I'm from the north (well actually MidWest) and we have Waffle House around here. I used to have to stop at Sonic or Chik Fil A but those have finally migrated up here. Dh has to have Krystal, I hate it but every visit we have to make at least one stop  |

I'm a Minnesota girl, but live in northern Virginia. When we go home, we always stop at the Cheese Chalet at the DeForest exit when driving through Wisconsin. They make their own cheese curds on site and have a nice place to let the dog out to sniff.
When we are home, we usually go to Gordy's in Cloquet if we are Up North. Great fried cheese curds, burgers, shakes, and onion rings. And we usually have porketta (shredded pork with spices) at least once when we are home. That's definitely regional to the Iron Range. When driving Up North, we also stop at Sonic. Not so much because it's a northern thing, but it's on the way and we don't have one near our house. I love the diet cherry limeaids. In the old days, we would get a french silk pie from Baker's Square, but I believe they have all gone out of business. At least the one by Grandma's house is gone.

I’ve been in SC since the late 80’s, but I spent my elementary years in Rochester(my parents were born and raised there) and Buffalo, NY.
If I’m in Rochester, I have to go to Don’s Original and get a white hot. Maybe a garbage plate if I’m really hungry. And fantastic Italian food at Guido’s Pasta Villa. And the authentic Italian bakeries...sigh. I love Rochester. When I’m back in Buffalo? Wings, of course!

My SIL and her family like to visit White Castle. They also stock up on Pearson's candy bars - Nut Goodies and Salted Nut Rolls.
Our DIL would stock up on Michelob Golden light, LOL.

I am a west coast gal, but when I saw a Waffle House I got a little excited. Lol! But, we didn’t have time to stop at one so I never tried it out. When I saw White Castle in Las Vegas that was another must try. I was very disappointed. Lol!

When I go home to Seattle, I always bring back Farman's pickle chips.. I love them. and fisher's scone mix.. though I know I can get that online.. If I was to go to a drive in, I would go to Dicks.... and look for fireweed honey and huckleberry ice cream.

We were traveling through SC a couple of weeks ago and saw a closed Waffle House off an interstate exit. I don’t think I have *ever* seen that before!!

I'm a MN-er and DH's family is from N Carolina/Georgia. He's got to have a Waffle House. I loved all the seafood in the E coast. I loved the texmex in Texas.
I LOVE squeaky cheese from the MN/WI dairys, the MN fish in the summer.

Wednesday is Pie Day, which means if you order an entree you get a slice of pie (of your choice) free! |

I thought of one thing I miss about PA, and that's the lemon wedge that accompanied every soft drink I ever ordered (fast food not counted). I miss that lemon wedge in my water and tea. Not so much in my diet Coke, but still. I bet half the lemon imports into this country are for adding to soft drinks in the mid Atlantic region. |
