On the note of creative reuse stores, Peas check and see if your area has one, they are the best! I go to the one an hour away every year on my birthday and leave with an absurd amount of paper for less than $20. Cool! I checked and there's one a couple of hours away. It's owned by two women; a mixed media artist and former teacher. They do classes and workshops too.

Would you consider the Dollar Tree a thrift store?

not from a thrift store but i remember when Prima had a huge warehouse about an hour away from my house. they would have the absolutely BEST parking lot and warehouse sales! i'm taking $5-$7 packages of specialty flowers for $1-2. i would spent $200 and come home with over $600-$800 worth of stuff. i have Prima paper and flowers in packages and glass jars that will last me for the rest of my life.
then they size down their warehouse to one room and then closed it off to the public altogether. i am so glad to have had the chance to stock up when i did.

I'm still waiting for my white whale of Creative Memories cutting cartridges. I found a box at a nearby creative reuse store, but when I opened it I found it was literally just the box. My heart broke. ;__; That's so disappointing. I've had that happen with a few games, where you see the box and open it up, all excited... only to find out most the pieces are gone. I hope your luck improves soon and you find a set of CM blades. Fingers crossed! The best find was a 3 ring binder full of silicon stamps for $6, it had a 9 pockets per page, all stuffed and like 15-20 pages. How is that not a huge haul? Oh my goodness, that's a massive amount of stamps! I got a similar but much smaller find; it was a half-size photo binder with maybe ... a dozen sets? ish? for 4.99, and I was super excited just for that! You made off like a bandit. Same with those punches and paper; I've gotten punches here and there but never more than a couple at once, and they're often about the same price you paid for your whole bag.

I guess I'm thinking of a "haul" as a wide variety of radness, but yeah on second thought maybe those were both truly thrift store hauls!

Recently purchased a large plastic tub full of unopened scrapbook stickers for 25 bucks off Facebook. Looks like they came from Micheals 2008/9

Would you consider the Dollar Tree a thrift store? *laughs* Personally? Yeah! I get a lot of stuff from there... but technically probably not, unless it's one-off stock clearing things. I've gotten some brand-name paper pads @4$ because they had some minor printing errors or were just overstock(?). Nautical cream/burgundy/navy with canvas paper, Martha Stewart Woodland themed, some neutrals too. I saw an marketplace ad pop up on facebook...I got 49 stampin up ink pads, 15 refills and the color caddy ink pad storage for $30..... @_@! That's a crazy steal. Recently purchased a large plastic tub full of unopened scrapbook stickers for 25 bucks off Facebook. Looks like they came from Micheals 2008/9 I'd have a hard time resisting a bin of stickers. Not much of an ephemera person but stickers... stickers speak to my childhood self. They were literal currency. I still have my collection mostly intact, though it's moved books three or four times now. Sadly today was a strike out for me. Saw plenty of interesting things but nothing that said 'must have'.

Would you consider the Dollar Tree a thrift store? I guess I do. At my Dollar tree right now they have adhesive jewels, shimmery enamel dots, and there's usually cute holiday stickers and ribbon. There's also canvases in sizes probably up to 5x7. I use a lot of their items for storage. One of my more recent finds was magazine holders in the office supplies. Fits my 8.5x11 cardstock perfectly.

I got the shimmery enamel dots (Actually more like puffy stickers)! 10 packs of the small, and 2 of the large. I love them! They go perfectly with the new Vicki Boutin scrapbook line. 😍

I am a scavenger. Things I've learned over the years. I go to Mike's or Jo's with my coupon, but they have all the stuff on sale, negating the coupon. I go over the other side of the store and find foam brushes, big tub of gesso, scissors (in sewing). Garage sales have loads of stuff. Cheap jewelry, cut off the clips to make great adornments. Dollar Store for doilies to fold trees, stain, use for background. Sushi mats and wood blinds are great for back ground. Buy your #11 blades at a model hobby store in boxes of 100, $20 In a thrift store, go to the aisle with notebooks, find printer decal sheets for cheap. The book aisle for mags and books to cut, tear or repurpose. I have examples here; www.scrapbook.com/myplace/index.php?mod=galleries , I don't know if you can get there from here, but it's worth a try. It's not just all about paper.

It's not just all about paper. Too true! There's so much good stuff available if you're willing to think outside the box. Right now I'm collecting agenda planners (the 6 or 7 ring half sheet size ones) for storing my stamps and dies. Up to six right now, they cost usually 3-4$ each at thrift and are perfect IMO. Zippered means nothing can fall out and the size makes them easier to sit on a desk than a full scale binder. Also have gotten lots of sticker paper, laminating and cardstock supplies in the stationary section.

Not as much crafty stuff as usual, but some nice finds anyways today! Set of six basic colours Pitt Artist Brush Pens. Like new, tips are perfect. Small book of cardstock colour-in floral prints Another Day-Timer to store my ever expanding collection of cutting dies, inc. sleeves, folders and adhesive pockets. (and some perfectly good white-out, which quickly found a new home) Total cost 5.52$

Two nice finds this week: a 3.5cm tall stack of coloured paper, and nine 3-ring binder zip pouches that fit 8.5x11" paper. Haven't quite figured out what I'm going to put in them besides my specialty paper (glitter, metallic, holographic, foiled, etc.) Both were just over a 1.50$ each. Not pictured but also purchased: A copy of Pokemon Ruby, 4.75$. Sadly hardly any Pokemon on it and as expected the internal clock battery is dead, but it works and it's authentic, so score!

Man I wish I had a scraproom of my own cuz I would have bought this great cabinet that was on wheels. It was oak, counter height, square with shelves on both sides and only $9!!!!! If I had room for it and a truck I would have brought it home. Perfect for a stamping or die cutting station.

That does sound pretty awesome - sorry you had no room for scrappy furniture. :c Hopefully it found a good home! I have a cheap little Ikea two drawer (nightstand? it was probably meant as a nighstand) cabinet thing where I keep my tools and die cutter on top, and it's perfect being next to a slightly taller table. Having your stuff at arm's reach really does make a difference in how often it gets used.

I went to Goodwill today and found a couple of stamp sets that were cute, but 6.99 each..I don't know. They weren't that cute. Sometimes I find Goodwill to be a tad pricey.

Thrift stores used to be less expensive, but a lot of them have started pricing based on eBay and other online marketplaces, even though they're only catering to a very small, local market. The closest store to us usually prices stamp sets in the 5.99-9.99 range, which is one of the reasons I don't buy a lot of them. That could be a whole set of stamps or just 2-3, it varies dramatically. Sometimes you get lucky and they'll throw nice stuff at random into a bag, but it's all a matter of luck and who happened to be running the sorting room that day.

Yesterday I found another Fiskars paper trimmer for $2. I offered it to my boyfriend who has previously asked if he could take one of mine to work. When he saw it didn't have a blade, he wasn't into it.
With his attitude, I didn't bother telling him it's 1. Better than the one I would let him have 2. $20 retail and blades are only $5 so he'd srill come out ahead. His loss and some other happy crafter's gain I suppose. That's my almost-haul for the week.

I don't lend out my tools because there's no guarantee they'll make it back to me, nor in what condition! Especially stuff with consumables, like trimmers.

thank you to whoever suggested a creative re-use store - I googled and there's one about 50 miles from me and we were in the area on Saturday. I got some rubber stamps but the BIG find was a wooden desk made in 1938 for DD12

The secret to finding stuff at thrift is to go often and go to lots of different neighbourhoods. Oh yes, I dream of finding Copics at thrift. Even though I have probably more Copics than any one person needs... that sweet, sweet premium marker goodness. I'd never say no to more. The closest thing I've gotten would be these darlings, last year: Koh-I-Noor Rapidograph set, circa 1980's or early 90's probably. The pamphlet is dated 1984. These are technical pens, the kind architects would use. 5.99$, +~6 hours of labour. Guessing the folks pricing stuff that day opened them, saw they were all gross and dried up, and figured nobody would buy them for much. These bad boys were put away wet and left to suffer, all but the orange one which was never used. They sat for a long, long time, as there's noticeable sun yellowing on one side of all of the pens. And so much dried ink, in every. single. part. The remaining six needed a full disassemble and repeated trips through the ultrasonic cleaner + lots of TLC with cotton buds and alcohol soaks before they could work again, but I managed to restore the whole set. The remaining ink is even still perfect, which I wasn't expecting. The little black rings are the keys for unbolting the nibs, in case anyone was wondering what on earth those are. I use the yellow (0.3mm) and brown (0.5mm) ones the most, the others are currently empty and clean. Smoothest pens I've ever used, just touch them to the paper and go. They make lines of extremely consistent thickness. One of these pens is ~40$ brand new, and Koh-I-Noor still produces these exact models! (if it ain't broke...?) Oh do those bring back memories. I used those in architecture school in the 90s! Thank goodness for computer drafting now!!!
