Prompt n°13: In the newsWith all the good cheer and holiday preparations, our albums often forget to include historical context. Right now, all of that doesn't seem to matter but ten, twenty years down the line, these extra bits of information will play a critical role in giving the full image of the 2019 holiday season. Use today's prompt as a challenge to add a page or spread about what's happening in the world, in your country, in your region or city at the moment. Be it elections, impeachment procedures, extraordinary weather, events related to something you're passionate about, challenge yourself to include it. It can be a list of bullet points or focusing on one specific news story. Don't feel obliged to include everything or to mention something you're uncomfortable adding to your December album. Photo ideas: Screenshots of headlines or articles online, a pic of the newspaper on the table or being read by a loved one at home, a photo of the newspaper stand/kiosk on your daily commute or of your TV screen while the news is on. Song of the day:

UK peas with Channel 5 might not have spotted (at least) two Christmas films on each afternoon...and there on catch up at any time. I honestly hadn't realised there were *quite* so many variations on the same theme and blame you-know-who-you-are for leading me astray

If you missed this weekend's SNL show, here is my favorite sketch. Great for all of us watching Hallmark Christmas movies! "I'm Prince Simon of Caucasia" is my favorite line. I normally only watch SNL for the beginning but this week was sooo funny. I loved the whole show, I don't remember the last time I laughed so much. I was the same. I usually multitask after the cold open, but this week I actually laughed out loud several times. The fake Macy's ad was perfect!

I almost wrote Caucasia instead of Aldovia or Caplurnia or whatever fantasy kingdom I was writing about the other day! Classic. (and also ) Did you read this hilarious Jezebel article about Aldovia and the latest Christmas Prince movie? That's amazing and hilarious. Thanks for sharing. I sent it straight to my friend who (like me) geeks maps and languages and history and stupid romance films.

I normally only watch SNL for the beginning but this week was sooo funny. I loved the whole show, I don't remember the last time I laughed so much. Not at all Christmas related, but the episode with Harry Styles was just about the best episode of SNL I have ever seen. I laughed ridiculously during just about every skit. I even watched it twice and saved it on the DVR. Now of course I have inappropriate feelings towards Mr. Styles (but I had never seen him before this except on kids T-shirts at school), but I highly recommend that episode if you can stream it.

Friends, I’m up to day 5. We went to Disney for 5 days. I prepped the ear inserts above but now I’m wondering what to do!!!!! I’m going to do another entire Disney album. I’m thinking about doing a 3x4 card with our top moments of the trip and then just adding pics and calling it a day. What do you all think? I’m not numbering my album so it doesn’t matter that there aren’t individual days.

Prompt n°14: Box officeDecember is the month of Christmas-themed romance movies, old family favourites and new, modern takes on classic tales. It's also a busy month at the cinema, especially with Disney's two major releases this year, Frozen 2 and Star Wars: the Rise of Skywalker. What's been playing on your screen? Do you have a special outing planned? Are you enjoying the new Hallmark flicks (and perhaps using joblackford 's fun Hallmark movie trope bingo cards while watching them)? Photo ideas: Everyone loved up in front of the TV at home, movie snacks being prepared in the kitchen, a family portrait standing outside the cinema, everyone's hands holding their movie ticket, each person in the family holding the DVD/Blu-ray case of their favourite holiday movie. Song of the day:

. I’m thinking about doing a 3x4 card with our top moments of the trip and then just adding pics and calling it a day. What do you all think? If you can fit everything on a 3x4, that sounds good. I'd probably add some small square photos on top of the insides of the ear inserts and do a larger punched in insert in between both halves of Mickey's head if the top moments don't fit on a 3x4 (5x5-ish): one side journaling, the other side the best/favourite photo you took at the park.

Prompt n°15: Catch-up 1We're midway through the month, ladies! YAY and woohoo, go us. Time get caught up on our documenting. If you're creating as the month goes by, what's missing? Did you leave a few things floating about in a pocket that still need adhesive (and maybe some decision-making)? Do you still need to edit and print some photos? Are you out of an essential that you *really* need to go pick up at the store? Do you still need to track down leaflets or memorabilia? For those who'll work on their album in 2020, how are you doing keeping up with the journaling? Should you perhaps take half an hour to get some anecdotes written down today? Are you keeping up with selecting the best photos for each event you're keeping a record of? Song of the day:

Tsk tsk tsk, what has Britain become? Did you catch Lucy Worsley's Christmas Carol Odyssey on the BBC? So good and a wonderful historical dive into this Christmas tradition. Highly recommended to all Brits and Aussies (also available on ABC iView).

Yes, it's a good one, though I struggle with LW. She spoke at a meeting I attended and was so full of herself that I have not viewed her in quite the same light ever since! As for the slip in standards, well, it can't be anything to do with the company I keep can it? I think that having to endure the politics of a General Election in December is enough of an excuse to drive us all to the kind of film that's shown on daytime TV! Thank you all for the welcome distractions

Not the best photos but here are my Disney spreads Love Disney. Love the ears. Love them! And I love what you did with them. Really great. Post by sleepingbooty on [abbr class="o-timestamp time" data-timestamp="1576529648000" title="Mon Dec 16 2019 15:54:08 GMT-0500 (Eastern Standard Time)"]Dec 16, 2019 at 3:54pm[/abbr] Sorry about yet another unexpected absence. I'm so sorry to hear this. I do hope she is on the mend and everything is ok! blemon Are you my long lost twin? We share a lot of Christmas movie/series loves and hates this year! Couldn't make it through Royal Baby or Happy Merry Whatever. Absolutely loved Klaus. Totes enjoyed The Knight Before Christmas despite its imperfections and holes. I've never been a twin to anyone! I'm so excited to hear this. Please give me a list of movies you like and I will start watching. Here's my newest: Pottersville. Netflix. It's not really Christmas as it all happens before Christmas and it's not like the focal point or anything. Basically this dude gets drunk, puts on a gorilla suit, wreaks some havoc, then national news pics it up as a bigfoot sighting. Man, it has everything I love in a cheesy christmas movie but also: people wearing animal costumes, bigfoot sightings, and now, of course, wolves. Ha! The acting is actually really good. The plot seems totally fine, no holes or anything, just absurd but that makes it awesome. Dying to hear what you all think. Also torn whether to keep up my xmas movie streak or go binge Mrs. Maisel through my mom's Amazon prime account.

Prompt n°16: What Christmas means to meThis is one for the thinkers, the writers and those who aspire to do some more reflecting in their documenting. Grab a piece of paper, a pen and find a comfy seat. What is Christmas/Hanukkah/Kwanzaa/Yule/any type of end-of-the-year celebration to you? How do you define it? What makes it? What breaks it? Embrace everything you love about the December holidays for this prompt. There is no bad answer, there is no one answer. You can focus on one thing or make it a long list, whatever feels right to you. How do you define Christmas spirit? How has this changed over the years? Can you identify why these things - and not others - matter the most for you at this time of the year? Are there recent events in your life that have made you change the way you look at the holidays or, on the contrary, reinforced your vision? Don't feel like this should be all feelings, no fun. Incorporate everything that really makes the holidays for you, no matter how quirky or silly! Photo idea: A picture in which you can identify as many of the response elements you cited. Dive in your stamp and embellishment stash to find a way to point them out on the photograph (family, lights, cosiness, Christ, etc.) to make extra scrappy. Song of the day:

elegantsufficiency But she has a PhD, you know! I was just watching for history of Christmas carols, to be honest. It could have been presented by Whatshisname Whatsherface and it would still have been fine for me. I'm such a peasant! Welcome to the bad Christmas TV club. You don't even need a valid excuse like the Brexit mess and terrible elections to qualify for it (but you've definitely deserved it for going through all that *hugs*). Open for all! Come in, we enjoy bad tropes and even worse clichés. ecvnj58 Beautiful pages! blemon Well, you're finally twinning. It was bound to happen at some point! Did you try Netflix's new limited series hailing from Norway called Home For Christmas? I just finished it and had a good time watching it. It's your typical rom-com arch over several episodes about a single 30-year old nurse who decides to date several men in order to find a suitable boyfriend in time for Christmas dinner so she isn't stuck sitting between her twin baby nephews at the family table again... Tagging joblackford who might also enjoy this. Some nudity but nothing "bad." grammadee This thread will definitely live on in early 2020, no worries. I might actually join the after-December documenters myself. So glad to hear you're collecting beautiful photographs and memories. mom Crap. I hope you'll have fantastic holidays to make up for a meh month so far. *hugs* *hands mug of hot cocoa* anniefb Who's counting?... Linda Been thinking of you. I hope you're doing ok and taking it easy.

Prompt n°17: Day in the December lifeI hope you're feeling ambitious because this one is a bit of an extra challenge during an already super busy month. Bear with me, it's totally doable! Pick a day where you feel there is enough time for you to keep notes throughout it and get going. Note down your routine, a few thoughts and don't forget to snap some photos along the way. It doesn't need to be a day when you have something special planned, regular will do. Think about noting things like the time you wake up, your commute time, lunch break, work, dropping off/picking up the kids, groceries, opening parcels waiting for you when you return home, TV shows you watched, something in the news that day, the weather. To keep things compact and not spend too much time on figuring out how to add all the photos to your spread, consider making a large collage to have everything on a page. Photo ideas: Anything from your current routine! Think about including the ordinary December life in this one. Maybe a "what's in my bag" flatlay, maybe a view from your desk, perhaps a snapshot of the kids sitting in the backseat, etc. These things will change through life and we so often forget about all the small, everyday stuff we used to experience daily but that are no more (or look very different decades on). Song of the day:

Thanks sleepingbooty - I'm hanging in there. Not a ton of Christmas Spirit but trying to do what's important and drop the rest. Didn't put up all of the decorations this year - put up some of them and left the rest in boxes. Tree will go up this weekend. My kids are all home - DS came home late Monday on leave - and I love having them all home. We all went carolling with the Church group last night at the hospice facility - DH had to work but the rest of us went. It's a new tradition (started last year) but one I hope to keep. Today I've been baking all the breads - 9 teacher gifts needed for tomorrow so made 2 batches (12 mini loaves) of pumpkin gingerbread and am working on 2 batches (12 mini loaves) of cranberry bread. It's slow going as I can only fit 3 mini loaves at a time in my roaster oven and they take an hour to bake. But it's a tradition...

What is it about these traditions?! I love them...but I have a habit of adding new ones each year and somehow, the old ones don't get forgotten. So strange how I find there's more and more to do But there's a kind of comfort to be had in doing these things, isn't there? And when you show up with the plate of cookies or whatevs and see the look on their faces...it makes it all worthwhile. I love the sound of those breads!

Sorry about yet another unexpected absence. My SO's sibling took a turn for the worse and we just packed a bag, called our employers and left. It's been the most off December in my life, I think. We're back now. Emergency surgery is over and has gone well. I think we're truly on the way to recovery now! *crosses fingers* I'm going to put on a Christmas movie and try to catch up on this thread and post a couple of belated prompts. On the belated front, happiest birthday wishes to our beloved mom! You're an awesome lady and I can't imagine 2PR without you. May the people in your life have made you feel loved and important on your special day. And may this new cycle around the sun bring you loads of everyday joy and happiness. You deserve it! Hugs to you and your family.
