I want the Tiffany advent calendar -- just for the box. I do not really wear much jewelry but I love their aesthetic.
And their xmas windows are so amazing. I wish I lived closer to NYC.

I got my red cup today. I wasn't planning on going because I hate crowds, but I found myself needing to kill some time before meeting a friend. So 45 min later, I have my cup! The high today was only 28 with sleet so I totally justified that as a reason to get a cup.

This time I only prepped pages I could do ahead of time (advent calendar, movies, etc). In the end, it isn't anything like a just-add-pictures album, but that wasn't my goal. I only wanted to make sure I'd use my favorite supplies and have matching embellies in page protectors. Today, I even made transparencies and layered tags, plus filler pages with items I know I won't use "as is" . Woohoo, go you, @millefeuilles! Sounds like you just did some prepping. Yep, you sure did. What supplies are you using this year? Yes, sleepingbooty ! That's a great idea! I'm actually driving down to my sister's house the Monday before Christmas day so would be perfect then. Or a die cut of a tree for the age old story of getting one too big and then struggling getting it in the car and up the stairs. Thanks for getting me thinking! There are loads of cool ways to use the interactive sliding element idea. So glad you're thinking about including it in your album, can't wait to see which December adventure you illustrate with it! Oh, almost forgot! Happy Red Cup Day (in the US)! Turns out that they launched the red cups over here as well! I'm surprised... Sacrebleu, madame !I was driving to Starbucks as usual before work and go to turn into the driveway which usually has 2-3 cars max at 6:50 AM and the line was backed up in the street blocking traffic (meaning like 15+ cars!). It took me until I was well settled in line to realize... it's red cup day! I got my red [actually green] cup and was late to work as a result. Holy shirtballs! That's a lot of cars early in the morning to get a seasonal cup... You ladies, we don't even have drive-through Starbucks here. All the ones I know open at around 9 in the morning and are in city centres where you can't just drive and park your car next to. Starbucks brand themselves as high-end coffee houses for city folks over here: Just saw this from doodlebug... Yetis, yetis everywhere! Foundation pages are giving me anxiety too. First, I should be investing my time completing last years album. Second, I think I’m moving on and not doing pockets. I’m not in love with them. Sitting firmly next to you on the over-pockets bench. I don't know exactly why but I've been over pockets for a while now. Still love them to safely preserve important photos but for this type of project, I just don't like them anymore... I'm usually not a Starbucks drinker but went in specially yesterday to get a cup. I'll be back today to get another design. The things we do for our albums Oh, silly romantic movies and special cups, we truly are doing it just for the album... Watching YouTube and getting anxious with the amount of product these scrappers have for DD. I mean really...you bought like every pack of stickers and every embellishment and every clearance item and every Target dollar spot tree...stuffing it into baskets, bins, folders and containers and pockets. I mean this stuff is enough to do 85 albums. It's wasteful and plastic and consumerism. I just really get dizzy from all the STUFF... Yep, I'm getting secondhand anxiety for some of these documenters. I couldn't handle all the stuff. It's too much. Waaah, where to even start? And will they be filming a everything-I-didn't-use-for-my-DD-album-this-year video afterwards because I kind of need to know? Advent calendar from Tiffany's, review from Colbert (followed by his own silly version, but the Tiffany one is real. $112k) Teehee, I laughed. The solid gold tissue... The high today was only 28 with sleet so I totally justified that as a reason to get a cup. Eep! That's *so* cold! Do you live in the mountains? PS: Also, great idea on using any extra creativity + time to work on your 2018 DD, mom. You've got the stuff out anyway, might as well use as much of it as you can handle.

sleepingbooty nope! No mountains here. Its just hot in the summer (can get to over 100 in July-Aug) and cold in the winter (many days can be 25 and colder Dec-Feb). This year it is colder and wetter than normal.

Advent calendar from Tiffany's, review from Colbert (followed by his own silly version, but the Tiffany one is real. $112k) Won't be able to afford Tiffany's Advent this year, but I did pick up Trader Joe's 12 Days of Beauty Advent for a mere $19.99. http://instagram.com/p/B4f4Jgahszf A treat for myself that I can afford. I plan to open every other day in December so it can last for the month.

I am so excited! I want those little chipboard circles with the numbers on them but I didn't buy the kit. I remembered that I have a small circle punch and I actually found it!
So I'm just going to make my own by printing on thick cardstock and punching them. I don't need them to be thick. I just like the idea of them.
Anybody have an idea what font that is?

Almost everyone is taking their coffee to go. We have 7 Starbucks within 5 miles of my house (in a town of 40k). 4 are drive thru. We also have a ton of little shed/prefab buildings that are independent drive thru coffee shops, no cafe at all, many with bikini clad baristas. In downtown Seattle they have amphibious car/boat (Ride the Ducks) tours where one of the guides has everyone yell "cha-ching!" when they see a Starbucks. You hear them as they pass each block cha-ching... cha-ching... cha-ching... I know it's the home of the the company but it's also a bit ridiculous.

So I did a thing -I decided I wanted to do a 3x8 for last years DD that I never did. Less space to fill up, already had some templates that I could use. I didnt want to throw anymore money at this project so I took an extra 3x8 turquoise album I had on my shelf and painted It green. Its still drying but it looks so good! The light color of the turquoise made it easy to cover up and all I had to really do is tape on the inside and metal plate. Will it be perfect? Nope. But its free and more in line with the amount of stuff I want to include with last years album. The inside of the album has a grey map pattern on it which I am not thrilled about, but I think I can cover it with something else. And if I cant get it all covered, then so be it. It will be fine.

Or you could just pretend it's a map to the north pole and call it good. I love the idea of painting the album - I'm all for using what you have for DD.

The reality is, the pattern is very light and most people won't notice it. Im going to leave it for now, and deal with it later.

This is just one of those "here in 'Murica" myths people start on the Interwebz to throw non-Americans off. Right? Right? I decided I wanted to do a 3x8 for last years DD that I never did. But its free and more in line with the amount of stuff I want to include with last years album. Sounds great! I actually don't like the term "perfect" for anything we, humans, do or make. It's never going to be perfect, no matter how much money you pour into it. And personalised scrap projects are often the ones we look back on with the most fondness and attachment. I think you're on the right path for this catch-up DD, mom . Your map problem could also be solved by adding a "joy to the world" sentiment on it. (ETA: And since you're Christian, you could add "The Lord is come" on the other side of the inside map, to signify the Christmas season has come full circle for you as a religious person, the end.)

If you have a looped/arched dotted line stamp & a sleigh stamp you could stamp the loop/arch in gray & stamp the sleigh & it can represent a Santa tracker

Sephora customers: this year's holiday gift boxes + bags are pretty, elegant and minimalist. If you buy something at a Sephora, don't forget to ask for the Christmas gift box or paper bag! Especially if you're using the Felicity Jane products for your album.

Let It Snow is now available on Netflix for anyone needing a cosy fix! It's got a young and diverse (ish) cast, it deals with friendship and love and it features the lovely Kiernan Shipka (ugh, can we get the next season of the Chilling Adventures of Sabrina already?).

Got these at Starbucks for my page. I’ll make a little trunk out of cardstock and stick a star on top. http://instagr.am/p/B4mx0DRgWkF What a great idea. I am going to have to get these for my husband. He's addicted to Starbucks. Funny/not funny story: I have always taught underprivileged children. We had a field trip to the zoo. During lunch I am sitting with the mom volunteers. For some reason they start discussing coffee. Forgetting who my audience was I blurted like an idiot that my husband buys Starbucks everyday on his way to work. The looks of horror I got were pretty intense. One of the moms did the math and was appalled at the waste of money. I sheepishly said I would have to talk to my husband and have him stop. They were very relieved for me. When I got home, I shared the story with my husband. We were so incredibly grateful that buying a daily cup of coffee from Starbucks is no big deal for us.

This is just one of those "here in 'Murica" myths people start on the Interwebz to throw non-Americans off. Right? Right? So, yeah, not only bikini clad, but many of them were even less clothed - you know those little stickers that strippers use to cover their nipples... they'd have pasties Tuesdays, or pasties everyday at some stands... but many cities have regulated them out of existence because some ended up being fronts for prostitution. Coffee, and a little extra service... eek! The ones in my (Navy) town have to have some shielding/fencing so the mostly nekkid barista isn't visible to people driving by with innocent kiddos. They often have great names like Natte (naughty) Latte and Espresso Gone Wild (here's a Yelp page for a sampling although some have gone under). Many other stands promote that they are family friendly and the only pasties are the Cornish pastry kind/ pastries not pasties. BTW bikini barista isn't a exclusively female job. There were a couple of "banana hammock" stands that specialized in a different market... <.< Are the little shed coffee spots good? I always see them when I visit my parents but I never have tried one. Yeah, a lot of them are really good, from what I know. And a lot of people prefer to support them as small businesses. I think many have loyalty punch cards and people stop every morning on their way to work, friendly baristas who know your order, etc. They often have baked goods and all the same syrups and fancy stuff that the fancy places have but maybe better prices? I know my dairy-free caffeine-fiend friend has supported certain stands because they had a wider range of nut milks earlier than the big chains started offering them. How do all these coffee shops make money? People drink a LOT of expensive coffee here? I'm guessing they make most of their money on the upgrades, syrups, flavorings, fancy milks, etc. And the small stands have low staffing and overhead costs. People are easily spending $5-10 a day on coffee, which I find insane, especially when you don't get the cafe ambiance to go with it (I consider my $5 Starbucks drink rental for sitting in their nice cafes for an hour or two chatting with a friend or waiting for a bus). In Seattle a lot of tourists go to Starbucks - you can try to squeeze into the original in Pike Place market (SO crowded), or go to the giant one where you can actually see the market sign, or the special reserve one down the street where they have the coffee for the true coffee snob (the kind who wants their beans from Yemen and knows what temperature water they want the espresso machine to use...) There are a lot of people with strong opinions about coffee in the PNW.

Just not sure whether the $$ is worth it at this stage. I think for Ali's HEXAGON Lessons the class was not required. There are plenty of examples of her lessons on her DDFB Group page and I don't think its too difficult to recreate. HOWEVER, I loved Amy's contributions. She had 4 lessons and I loved each of them. I haven't seen too many examples of Amy's lessons in the DDFB Group yet but I feel her downloads will make it so much easier to put the pages together. I really love the way Amy walks you through the steps and I feel her lessons are top-notch. I am looking forward to Pam's contributions too because she is always so creative.
