I actually start my album on Thanksgiving, so I have a small batch of photos from Costco to pick up today that will start me off from Thursday-yesterday. Today I'm taking my oldest out for our Annual Christmas Shopping Date. She has a budget for her brother and sister and dad and we'll shop for them and then hit Starbucks. Call me a Grinch, but she was in the child size cup until this year. I'm a little excited to document that, as trivial as it might be to some. The real challenge for me will be having all 3 kids at school during the week... and documenting... I have all the typical stuff planned, but I'm looking forward to trying out the sleepingbooty Photo Challengeto help me out. Thanks for doing this for us!

Ok Thanksgiving starts off the stressful yet joyous season of PARTY in our family. So I did go to Ex’s for thanksgiving ( wanted to spend time with DS and not make DS feel like he needs to choose ) was fine. I’m actually less of a bother than his parents.
I went home from thanksgiving and set an alarm to get up at midnite for an online sale I had been waiting for for awhile! Yes I’m crazy. But I got what I wanted it should be here this week.
Worked Black Friday - thankfully a quiet day with only computer problems all day long, no people problems, thankfully.
Yesterday was my birthday & I saw my college room mate for lunch. It’s so nice seeing old friends like that! Went to dinner with DS.
Today DS goes back to school. But I also get to open my first day if the advent calendar I bought myself. It’s a die calendar! I remembered I had it AND I remembered where I put it. ( which I posted here many pages ago Incase I forgot but I didn’t. ) I’m choosing to open it this morning while I have my tea so I can play with what ever I get today while I have time. Work days I’ll open it evenings. We are also supposed to have our first snow so my winter village IS going to be put out today. My sister hand painted all the houses and I cherish them.
Somewhere in there, Friday morning I think, I spilled something on my living room rug so that’s rolled over upside down until it dries so I don’t ruin the landlords wood floor. Despite the hot air heat it is sure taking its sweet time to dry so I couldn’t put it back yesterday when DS was here to help me lift the furniture to put it back. I don’t have a blow dryer to speed it along either. Hopefully it’s dry when my niece comes by this week.
This week I have class two nights, 2 hours away & its DS’s Birthday so it’s a busy week.
So lots going on Here thanksgiving til new year!

hop2 Love the die! Good for you getting yourself an advent calendar. You are a very busy lady! sleepingbooty Thanks for the challenges and fun posts! Definitely helps get me going in the holiday spirit. December 1st is here! 😁 🎄 🎁 We're watching ELF this morning. My ds was playing with his Jack in the box during the Buddy testing the Jack in the box scene, so i snapped a photo. And then all the holiday planets aligned and the two youngest wanted to take a pic in holiday hats. And they looked at the camera. Yay! Good photos to start the month! 😁

I haven't posted much about my album this year I have a calendar printed and that is it. We moved in late September and we needed to paint the whole house and my husband's work decided to do a mandatory plant overhaul on their system and he is working 12 to 14 hours a day 7 days a week and they forced him to give up all of his vacation days he was supposed to be off Thanksgiving to New Year. So I am still living mostly out of boxes. On Friday at 9 at night we got my table set up, tools out, computer hooked up and I started my Christmas Cards first. I have a lot to do but I will get there. On a happy note our grandson's Elf came today and has done a scavenger hunt around our house for his Lego Advent Calendar along the way are clues and little gifts so this is what I am documenting for December 1st. I can't wait for him to come and find his goodies. Happy December everyone looking forward to sharing our month together!

Happy December peas! For those of us documenting as we go are you ready? I finished putting together my kit last night. I'm using a homemade kit mostly made from leftover bits from previous Chrismtas purchases and a couple of things I bought on sale after last year. I found an older AE WITL kit on facebook marketplace recently with a grey and white diagonal striped album which I'm using. I bought a couple of new things this year to add to my kit which I'm not so patiently waiting for. I'm excited to get started!

HAPPY DECEMBER EVERYONE. I am overexcited. We've had a quiet day so far, my folks popped over for a quick visit this weekend and we had a walk around some gardens near to where I live. It's no Kew, but it's beautiful and the perfect way to say goodbye to autumn and hello to winter. Tonight our town has its annual light parade and official lighting of the Christmas tree in the high street (with fireworks!), which is always lovely, but I suspect I'll be documenting the quieter walk from earlier for my DD.

In the bag that had the Santa hats were our Christmas stockings. So I hung them. They're embroidered with the kids' names and really special to me.
I also pulled all the holiday children's books from the bookshelves, and put them all together between two book ends. I snapped a pic of them. We'll read them all month long.

100 pages of December chatter! Woohoo!
I'll be putting up the decorations today. I liked the idea of the December Currently album shared earlier, so I might work on something like that, but for now I'm just excited to get my first Shimelle JYC email this morning.
Coming home early worked out in a couple of ways - I didn't get a chance to adjust to Hawaii so no holiday hangover and I prepped a lot of things before we left so I feel a little bit ahead of the game for a change and I can hit the ground running today. I have my Christmas tee on and we just bought a bunch of overstock meat and (not overstock) egg nog at the grocery store so yay! The only thing that I didn't keep up with the last few days was my journal. I'll take care of that and set up my JYC journal (both in Day One app) today. The family has flown back to Hawaii this morning and windowed FIL has his daughter with him for the week, and the girls took care of the most pressing tasks so all is (pretty) good for now.
OK, I'm ready to make a chai-nog and figure out this tree!

Thanks for all the photo prompts, sleepingbooty, and for the daily prompt here. You add so much to the holiday spirit! How fun to have a die advent calendar, hop2. Thanks for sharing the fun with us. One year a scrappy friend made one of random scrappy supplies for me, and I remember the excitement of opening a treat every morning. Had never thought of buying one for myself. Kind of a slow day here. Kind of in a mess while I am slowly getting the Christmas decor in place. Dd has promised me a photo of their little guy discovering the LEGO she has tucked into each drawer of the advent calendar I made for him a few years ago.

Leaving some love for all of you December-loving ladies! I tend to enjoy the process more when the documenting is over. Plus I print in batches from the photo lab and my flat is too small to hold all my supplies. So, I'm 75% sure I'm not joining you in making the album this month after all. But I'll be cheering all of you on from the sideline! Do stay and cheer! You can always jot your journaling down "brouillon" style as the memories are created. Any little bit of work done is a weight off your future shoulders. Happy 1st of December, copine! For anyone still looking for design elements, Creative Fabrica has a freebie this week with 80 Christmas graphics. Didn't thank you yet for sharing this freebie with us! Love those doors, anniefb. Scrapbook antiques are such a treasure to work with! Enjoy your very special homemade December kit, Chinagirl828. I like my start to December - lots of fun things planned. First, we will wake up to our elf having brought us each an advent calendar - mine is chocolate, my teenage son gets a chocolate one AND a Lego City one, and my husband gets the Lego Harry Potter one. I'm excited to see the Harry Potter one the most! Oh my, you're in Advent calendar heaven! Sounds like a lot of fun with such a diverse bunch of surpises to discover daily. I agree that the Lego Harry Potter seems amazing (off to Google it now ). Our elf usually shows up on December 1st so that’ll probably entry number 1. I hope you had a wonderful first day of elf shenanigans! Oh my, what an adorable thing to document as a parent, dawnnikol! I hope you two had a lovely time together. Do let us know if you tried a holiday drink at Starbucks and how you rated it. I'm looking forward to trying out the sleepingbooty Photo Challengeto help me out. Thanks for doing this for us! My pleasure! I'm so excited to see how you creative people take the prompts and run with it. I so love the festive season in here. Yesterday was my birthday Happy slightly belated birthday, hop2! May your new journey around the sun be filled with everything your heart desires. My ‘toy’ From my calendar today is I love that you're sharing your crafty calendar gifts with us, thank you!

sleepingbooty Thanks for the challenges and fun posts! Definitely helps get me going in the holiday spirit. Thank you for playing along in this thread, whether you follow the challenges or not. It's all about feeling merry and jolly and finding happiness as a documenter in the midst of the madness! We're watching ELF this morning. My ds was playing with his Jack in the box during the Buddy testing the Jack in the box scene, so i snapped a photo. Could you have been treated to more perfect a scene than this? Oh my, how adorable! I am still living mostly out of boxes. On Friday at 9 at night we got my table set up, tools out, computer hooked up and I started my Christmas Cards first. I have a lot to do but I will get there. Sending you good vibes and patience, hutchfan . You'll get there. Don't stress or push yourself too much. As long as you feel comfortable and have everything you need within reach, it'll be a great Christmas season. We've had a quiet day so far, my folks popped over for a quick visit this weekend and we had a walk around some gardens near to where I live. It's no Kew, but it's beautiful and the perfect way to say goodbye to autumn and hello to winter. What a lovely way to kick off December. I love walks and hikes to close and open seasonal chapters. They're such a beautiful reminder of our place in the world, how fortunate we are and to slow down to enjoy the ride... Bonus: you'll have gorgeous photos for your album. I also pulled all the holiday children's books from the bookshelves, and put them all together between two book ends. I snapped a pic of them. We'll read them all month long. Great and important photo for them to look back on later in life. These are the treasures of life that we too often forget to capture. Good thinking, mama! OK, I'm ready to make a chai-nog and figure out this tree! I'll come over to help with the tree if you've got any of your chai-nog left over... Thanks for all the photo prompts, sleepingbooty, and for the daily prompt here. You add so much to the holiday spirit! Aww, thanks for your kidn words, grammadee ! I'm just here to cheer, you ladies do all the amazing work and bring this thread to life. I love it here! Kind of a slow day here. Kind of in a mess while I am slowly getting the Christmas decor in place. Dd has promised me a photo of their little guy discovering the LEGO she has tucked into each drawer of the advent calendar I made for him a few years ago. Piano piano as the Italians say. Slow isn't bad. Are you going all out with the Christmas décor this year, grammadee ? And how cute that your daughter is sharing photos of the little one discovering his new Lego throughout the month. That'll make for such a special story to scrap!

Reporting back at the end of the first of December here in continental Europe... It was a slow kind of day for us. We slept in and woke up to a grey sky. We headed on a walk to our favourite bakery to pick up some baked goodies to celebrate the first day of December and had a late brunch. We spent most of the afternoon reading on the sofa and taking a nap. It was so nice to spend this day in our little bubble, no outside world or worries or stress. Croissants, cappuccino, fuzzy socks, velvet-covered cushions and our Kindles.

Struggling with Christmas spirit this year and feeling like I'm behiond before I even get started.
Baked sugar cookies with DD13 this evening - I always forget how much I hate cutting out cookies and how frustrating baking with her is - and the lack of an oven (I'm using an electric roaster which fits ONE small cookie sheet) isn't helping. But they are her favourite and the ones she picked for the first Sunday of Advent...meant I had to dig out the cookie cutters from the Christmas boxes...given a choice we would have had either bar cookies or store-bought cookies but...she didn't want the former and I didn't have the opportunity to go to the store for the latter (not that she'll eat store cookies anyway)
I've put up one Nativity set and found the Christmas books.
DH took DD19 back to college - a less than 3 hr drive one way was over 5 hrs down and he's at 2.5 back so far and still an hour+ away.
I've managed to make ONE of the Advent ornaments for the Jesse tree. And accomplished nothing so far on my DD

Sending you love linda I’m sure your daughter appreciates your effort about the cookies. My momma heart feels you. Sometimes I fall short as a mom and wind up snapping at my kiddos or something because something isn’t perfect. And then I realize they don’t care. They just want the cookie dough anyways. Lol

I've managed to make ONE of the Advent ornaments for the Jesse tree. And accomplished nothing so far on my DD (((Hugs))) You're a better woman than me. I refuse to do cut out cookies. I bake dollops of store bought sugar cookie dough, let them cool, then let the kids (& me) decorate them with Wiltons squeeze bottle cookie icing and whatever sprinkles I've picked up and have in the cabinet. (And I'm horribly mean because if my kid says they don't like the taste of food we have, my go to retort is, "Good, then more for me!" ) Give yourself permission to only do that which makes you smile in the of celebrating the holidays. That's what I'm doing. My year has seen death and surgeries and testings and more doctor and specialists visits for my family than i thought i could take. And we're not even done yet. This month is packed with that too. So I've decided i am only putting the limited amount of free time and emotional energy into that which gives me joy. Sounds corny, but i just can't do more than that. There will be easy cookies, and gifts ordered online, and lots of holiday movies watched. You deserve to enjoy the holiday too.

Lol Ain't that the truth?! I've come to realize that "single mom, working a crappy, demanding job, trying to keep us all surviving while not getting child support" me is a far different person than "SAHM, middle class, no financial worries, can idle away her time color coordinating sprinkle colors to match both the tablecloth and holiday scrapbook paper" me. And that "now" me is enough for the kids as long as i try. I don't need to be perfect, just present.

We just got back from my in-laws house this morning and came home a little early because of a huge snow storm that was expected to come in this afternoon. We beat the snow, but it's piling up out there with no sign of stopping and my daughter is hoping for a snow day tomorrow. I am really hoping she doesn't get one though... I have the day at home tomorrow and really need the alone time to catch up on some chores, hopefully get motivated to scrap, and unwind after nearly a full week visiting family. Regardless, I'm assuming the snow is going to be my story for tomorrow! I think today's story is going to be just a summary of starting out December in Boston at my in-laws, although I didn't get a good family photo like I had hoped.
I haven't created my Day 1 page yet. Usually I'm so excited to start this project but this year I just feel... stuck. That is never who I am, but I've been going through a rough time lately so I guess that's coming out in my crafting. I also have gotten so far behind on my other projects that pushing those aside to work on December Daily seems a little overwhelming, I just wish I had a few days to sit at home alone and catch up on my crafting without having to worry about everything else!
Regardless, I'm not ready to throw in the towel on my DD... I purchased all the products, was excited when I first set up my album, my family loves the completed albums, and putting them together is often a highlight of the season for me, so I'm just going to let myself skip putting it together tonight and hopefully I'll feel more motivated tomorrow after I see other people's pages popping up.

Thanks for the encouragement. I've gotten better over the years at good-enough but this year is the first year DS will be home for Christmas since 2104 and the first year he's really getting to celebrate Christmas since then too (2015 he was at Boot Camp and 2016-2018 he was in Japan where Christmas isn't really a thing) so I feel like I need to make sure all the traditions he's looking forward to and remembering fondly happen - even if I'm not really feeling it. It's only been two weeks since Mum died and while I hadn't spent Christmas with her since before my youngest was born, it was her favourite holiday and she always went overboard with decorations and presents and ... a lot of our traditions started out as the traditions she did with us as children.
The two older ones joined us via facetime tonight for our 1st Sunday of Advent celebration -and that was nice.

I hope you don't put too much pressure on yourself to make this an ideal Christmas if your heart isn't in it. It seems like your mother's memory will be a big part of your holiday season, but it's so soon. It's only natural that your feelings are raw and you're probably still dazed or numb. Be kind to yourself. <3

I haven't created my Day 1 page yet. Usually I'm so excited to start this project but this year I just feel... stuck. I sometimes feel this way too and find that starting on the 2nd or 3rd of the month and then coming back to do the 1st helps me get past the block. For me, it's the feeling that this album could be perfect as long as I don't screw up the first page which puts unreasonable pressure on my creativity. For some reason the later days don't scare me as much (maybe because they're not the first impression?). I hope you find a way past whatever is blocking you. It's only been two weeks since Mum died and while I hadn't spent Christmas with her since before my youngest was born, it was her favourite holiday and she always went overboard with decorations and presents and ... a lot of our traditions started out as the traditions she did with us as children. I'm sorry for your loss. I can only imagine this season will be especially difficult for you and your family, and I hope you take the time you need and don't feel obligated to live up to the pressure of traditions of Christmas' past.

Today we read Christmas books 📚!
Also, I'm finding that I'm taking screen shots of movie covers to help document the Christmas movies we watch, then uploading them as pics to be printed.
As a child I always loved the Ernest series of movies, starring Jim Varney. Now i get to share them with my kids. We watched Ernest Saves Christmas last night.

And for Disney pix o didn’t get, I’ll grab from someone else on Instagram (of the places, not other families although that would be fun. I did scrap someone else’s ride pic because I accidentally grabbed it after the ride and my family kept making fun of me).

Crappy virtual hugs to all of you who are struggling this year or just not into it. Sometimes that happens. And I think it's ok to put that in your December Daily. I loathe the baking aspect of Christmas. I only bake one day a year, and it's for Christmas. I do it for my kids and my husband. I'd be perfectly happy with store-bought goodies. I've tried to convince my kids that a Christmas Coq au Vin or Holiday Pasta is a better alternative. They aren't buying it.
My December has started off a bit rough. Weather delayed our travel back home on Sunday so we spent the 2nd in the car. Everything feels off and rushed this week. My AE advent calendar isn't up, haven't started on my album.
One bright spot, I decided to add funny Christmas memes to my kids' advent calendar this year. They are 15, 12, and 12, so that was a risk, one never knows how stuff like that will be received with those ages. They are loving it! Score one for the cool mom!

Sorry, janamke your December is not starting off the way you would have liked it to, but those Memes sound like a win! That's one for the book, for sure! I wish I were closer, and I would bake for you. I love to bake, especially at this time of the year. And I always do enough that I have trays to give away and to take to pot lucks and other holiday functions. But I do my baking in November and freeze it so it doesn't stress me out when things get hectic. Thanks for the gnome alert, paperamy. Do you have a link? I will try to find those cut files using Google, but not sure I will get there. My SimonSays November kit with the gnome die has yet to arrive, nor has my order from PaperWishes with the gnome dazzles.
