The Temu app is horrible, spam and message inundation. Never used the App. That has not been my experience at all. I can't say I really get that from Temu at all. I wonder if I have something set differently. I do get notifications when I order and shipping updates - but that is expected. Do not use the Temu app. That is the reason security experts are worried about Temu accessing your data. Just go directly to their website and order that way. If you use a good credit card, you always have protection if you get charges you didn't make. Better get rid of Facebook, Instagram, etc... lol I do find it easier to shop on my computer, over my Phone though... but that is the case for most places for me anyway.

When we went to New Orleans we went on a plantation tour. We also took a swamp tour. We were hoping to see alligators, but we went in the winter and it was cold, so we didn’t see any. I was hoping to do a cemetery tour, but we didn’t get around to it. We did both of these things in Mid March...and saw BIG gators. Really enjoyed the air boat tour! Steamboat up the Mississippi We enjoyed this also, but it is a bit of a 'slow' day. Not that it is bad, but it's a more sedate adventure. WWII Museum. Fabulous! The welcome movie is narrated by Tom Hanks. We were there for 4 hours but could have stayed all day. Excellent museum! And we have been to a lot of War museums. Top notch. We also went to the Confederate museum which is very close by. It was quite interesting, and my Great grandfather was a Union soldier. Kind of interesting to see 'the other side' ... We enjoyed the trolley cars. You can buy a day pass for very little $$ and you can hop on and off. We rode one out to the cemeteries and walked around a bit.

Everyone says they don't want to buy from China and I avoid it when I can, but a lot of what you buy on Amazon comes from China anyway. Do you want to give Besos a bonus for what you're going to buy anyway? This. I have only ordered from Temu and I have been pretty happy. This is my advice. REALLY read the description. Get out a ruler. Size is sometimes an issue with things like decor, wreaths, etc. I ordered some pretty faux pine branches for Christmas decor and they were about 3" long. LOL I went back and read the description, and YEP that is exactly what I ordered. I thought I was getting large branches, and they looked big from the photos, but nope. They were tiny. I ended up using them on packages and laughed everytime I looked at them. I have ordered some really gorgeous silk flowers for spring. They cost pennies compared to what I could find online elsewhere and they are very nice. But really read that description, measure, and open ALL of the images with it. For some wreaths - the first picture is something stunning - but go deeper in the images to see what you are really getting. Most are ugly plastic copies that look nothing like that original image, which was probably someones Etsy image. You should be good on the graduation decorations - but measure and open every photo to look things over carefully!

I also bought a bunch of the little things you plug into outlets and they emit a high pitched noise that is supposed to keep mice away. I don't know if they really work or if we've been lucky, but no mice in the house in 15 years and those little 'squealers' are plugged into outlets around the house perimeter on the main floor and in the basement and the attached garage ... I am always suspicious if those high frequency devices really work - but I have a friend that absolutely swears by them for his shop. I keep thinking I am going to get some for our shop, but I get too overwhelmed when is start reading the reviews (SO many good/bad) that I just stick with traps and poisons.

I would highly suggest they find a travel vaccination clinic and get a rabies shot. Ask me how I know it is worth it? Signed, The woman who also lives in a log cabin and was bit by a bat in her sleep. (Much less painful to get a vaccine than to go through a rabies vaccination series) I would not hesitate to start the vaccination process. It is not just one, it is a series. They are not the extremely painful type of years ago. There is no going back with rabies. It is fatal. Oh my god!!! Did you know you got bit at the time or did you get sick afterwards??? Thankfully they weren’t sleeping yet and left the house so they knew they weren’t bit or scratched but what a good idea to get the vaccine. I didn’t know there was one!!!! Hope you are all good now!!! I would have them talk to a physician. Any possibility of the bat saliva on any cut or membrane is scary. If you get sick with rabies, it is fatal. The vaccine has to be administered soon after the possibility of exposure. But a physician should be able to help you decide if needed. Mice. They will probably be a part of their log cabin life forever. Manageable, but always there. One way to find small entrances for mice is to turn off all lights, and pull curtains if possible - to make the inside of the house as dark as possible, on a bright sunny day. Look for any light leaks coming in the house. A mouse can fit through the tinyiest hole or crack. Pack tight with steel wool and there is also rodent proof foam that works great. If they have a basement, look there, from the inside, for light leaks. Around the sill of the house, under door thresholds, etc. Mice can come in with boxes that were left outside or in the door if it is left open for even a short time - like when moving in.

I recently registered for Threads for the same reason. Me too! But after much resistance. I was like "I do NOT need another social media to keep me distracted. But then I would want to finish reading what was teased before me. I finally broke down and signed up. But I seldom read and never post. Same for X/Twitter. I have it, never post. I use it more as a "did that happen" confirmation. For example the recent Facebook/Instagram outage. I tried to log in a couple times and then popped on Twitter to find that it was a widespread outage. That saved me from worrying about my account being compromised and trying to reset everything. So I appreciate it for that. None of my friends or family use Twitter. I probably should grab the same name on TikTok too even though I still have some concerns about it. I keep my account private and try to not have anything that would indicate who I am. I did have a TT account. I deleted it because I would get sucked in and couldn't stop watching. Ugh! I had to make myself only look at it at night. It is my TV replacement. I do tend to hop on TT before most anything these days because my algorithm is set to cooking, books, cute baby animals and the like. I don't have to deal with political nonsense at all. Tiktok is my happy medium. I'm totally private, don't post anything but follow a ton of great content creators and have learned so frikin much. Me too! I have my algorithm set now to funny things, cows, farming, cooking gardening and decorating. If something comes up I do not like, a quick flick and it is gone. So, TT users - even if you are “private” can people find you via your email address or is that an option to turn off? If I join TT I want to be totally anonymous. I don’t want people I know in real life to fine me, or for me to be suggested to them, if you know what I mean. Can others still see your profile? I know they look at your phone number or other social media that has the same number attached and suggest friends. I do not believe others can see your email or anything recognizable unless you use a profile picture or name that is easily recognizable as you. You might be recommended to someone that knows you - but they won't "Know you" if your profile doesn't reflect anything personal about you. It will ask you often if you want to merge your friends to follow - I just say no. But I LOVE TikTok. I have managed to limit the time I am on it. I treat it more as watching TV in the evening. I have learned SO many cool things - the most recent was covering a pie, slitting the top and rolling it back to easily cover the edges. So dang simple, but I had never though of it. I find great recipes, how-to advice. Fun decorating videos. And the humor! But again, if it something political or humor that I do not care for - a quick scroll. Do that often enough and that matching content doesn't show up for you. You can also watch TikTok on your computer without needing an account. I don't know if any of the algorithm kicks in to feed you the types of content you want to see - but that is an option. Here is one of my favorite TT videos on how to cover the pie edge. Yep - there are tons of ways to do this, but this one just hits for me! TikTok how to cover a pie edge easily.

if you were a SAHM for a long time what did/will you do after? I have always kinda cringed at the "SAHM" moniker. There is so much more too it! But you all know that! My situation is different than most. Since we farm, I have transitioned into more the a farm hand/truck driver. I am seasonally. The most busy during harvest because I truck silage and all the grain. So from the end of August until November, sometimes December - I am a truck driver and head cook. Silage (which is only about a week for the big bunker) I truck all day, but also make a early morning snack of rolls, or some type of pastry and hot coffee in pitchers, to have ready when the rest of the truckers, packers, and cutter driver show up. I haul all morning, then dip home to get lunch out of the oven, and everyone stops for a quick lunch hour and then back to the field. I go back to the field above 30 minutes after everyone else, so I can quick clean up and get a supper ready in the shop when we quit. Something easy like maid rites or walking tacos that can be simmering the crock pot. And I usually a cookie or brownie to go with that. So I prep a lot of this stuff in advance and pull out of the freezer on the days I need it. When I am trucking grain, I just make field lunches for me and DH that I pack in a cooler for the day. I have a problem with having my stuff all gone by 11 am. LOL Ah Damn it! I also keep hot coffee and some cookies or such in my truck for the cart and combine drivers. I am also busier during calving season (starts soon!) and I help keep planting moving along by bringing out meals, helping fill planter, and parts runner. Always on a parts run! I also do all the bookwork and cook 3 meals a day, plus a little grandbaby watching when DD is out working after daycare hours. She farms and ranches with us. I kinda miss the more "stay at home days" -but my kids are all long grown up! Farm Labor, around here, starts at about $20/$25 an hour. So that is what I am saving our operation by being available when needed. It is pretty hard to find labor, especially when you only need them for short times of the year. And to have a full time hired hand is VERY costly. DH is very appreciative of my contributions. I am a full partner on our farm operation, and have been since the kids were young.

I hadn't heard of this, but I just googled and saw that Corelle itself recommends not using its older (pre-2005) for anything other than decorative purposes, which would be enough for me to discontinue use (I'm pretty sure the plates I grew up with were Corelle, although they did just have an edge pattern, so ugh). Can you find that on the Corelle website? I can't .. I think it was someone called "Lead Free Momma" or something like that, who got this all started. Her testing methods were not scientific and she was scare mongering to get more clicks. It has been disproven, but the hoax still gets brought up and passed around every so often. There seems to be a lot of information on Corelle - most of it inaccurate.

I think she’s also referring to the fact that so many animals have been lost in the fire, not just the feed. A couple of days ago I think I saw a Texas paper say up to 60%. Or, is it possible losing that much stock won’t affect prices drastically? From what I have read, I see it at around 7000 head, leading up to 10K head after euthanasia of more animals that were affected. Although that sounds like a lot, feedyards in Western Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas and Western Colorado are anywhere from 30,000 to 100,000 head yards. And there are MANY feedyards in those states. So 7K to 10K is a loss, and it will definitely hurt the owners of those stock, but it shouldn't have any impact on prices.... shouldn't .. but that doesn't mean the packer can't spin it and bring even more money into their pocket. About 95,000 cattle are slaughtered each day in the US (M-F) ... that is a very approximate estimate, but that gives you an idea of how big US beef production is.

I wish the article directed you to the actual database. Oh me too! How interesting. My Great grandfather immigrated to the US in 1850's. I know that his mother died and most of the family, except for him and his father. I know he went back to Ireland when he was older, after having served in the Army/Civil War, then serving on an Army post to protect the settlers moving west on the Santa Fe Trail (exactly like Dances With Wolves, and even same area). He went back to Ireland, probably in the 1910's with the plan to stay for quite a while, but the records show he came back to the US and to his farm in a very short time.

People who can might want to stock up on beef now, if they eat it. I imagine those prices will go up massively with this Texas Panhandle fire. I don't think that will have an impact on beef prices. Also - there are large quantities of hay being shipped to the panhandle now. Plus it is still early in the grass season. Most beef isn't raised on grass though - it is finished in feed yards (and they have BIG ones there). Cow/calf pairs do rely on the grass pastures more. But the calf is sold off the grass and finished in feedyard. The beef price is more set by supply/demand, corn price and whatever the packers can swindle out of producers, and screw the consumer. We are actively shopping for calves to finish now and the calf price is SHOCKINGLY high. Some went for a very high price last week in Pierre and they were program calves. The buyer bought them and took them out of the program, which was a shocker. To pay the premium for NHTC calves, then take them out and feed them as straight commerical and not get the premium NHTC bump at harvest. We can't figure out how that will make ANY profit. It's perplexing to say the least.

For us - it just makes for a much longer work day. I would much prefer to stay on standard time. DH works until it is dark out, not what the clock says. If you are adversely affected by DST adjustments, do you find the same problems when you cross into a different time zone? Times zones were created to balance the sunrise times. It regulates day/night across the globe. I went to Florida last month, and I woke up with the sun usually, so I woke up when the sun was rising. The time difference really didn't affect me that much. The biggest issue many people have with standard time is it being darker earlier. T he sun sets about 4-5 hours earlier than with daylight savings time. So when people get home it is dark out. And so people are less active. It isnt as safe to be out in the dark. Sunset times change with the season, but it would be 1 hour difference between staying on standard time vs. daylight savings time. I think I get what you mean though? As the spring and summer days get longer, the sun is up longer. The sun would set only 1 hour earlier on the clock with standard time, not 4-5 hours. The sun sets tonight about 6:17 and next week that will be 7:25 - but that is only a difference of 8 minutes on our circadian clock. The longest day is June 20, and that sunset will be 8:59 DST... taking into account time change, that would be 7:59 standard. So the sun sets only 1 hour and 42 minutes later on June 20 than it will tonight (although - since times changes it would appear to be 2 hours and 42 minutes on a physical clock, but it's only 1:42 on our circadian clock. -- my times are reported at Central Time. Also note - sunset doesn't mean it's dark by any stretch The further north of the equator, the later true night comes.

holy crap, that Laundry Sauce detergent is SPENDY! $70 for a box of pods? I bet its going to smell divine though, I love bergamot scents! It is horrendously expensive! I can't wait until I get the new one though! LOL I do feel like it cleans well. I'd love some scents that veer outside of traditional laundry scents but gah, the dogs and the country dirt/mud and the fishing gear and the outdoor stains leave me needing some SERIOUS laundry detergent power. Currently using Tide Hygienic Clean Heavy Duty pods, but I do add scent beads and/or a dryer sheet for some umph. I wish I could find some tough detergent (or any laundry product) that smelled more like woodsy/outdoors. I use Rockin' Green that has an enzyme cleaner in it for getting out nasty mud/blood/manure stuff when it really needs a boost. You can use it alone, use it as a 'soak' or use a scoop in with your regular detergent (and it is unscented for those that need that). It is the only thing that ever worked on Teenage Boy Funk, for me. I would put bed sheets or t-shirts that had that forever funk attached to it in the washer, 3 scoops of Rockin' Green and the hottest water. I would agitate for a few minuets and then let soak for a couple hours. Then I would let it go through the wash cycle and usually wash again with whatever detergent I wanted. It is great for workout clothes, although for some of that $$ fitness apparel, I would probably not use the hottest water. I just have the Rockin' Green auto ship from Amazon every 4 months.

use Persil but for bad stains, I switched to Persil from Tide a couple years ago. I am so pleased at how will it handles stains and just general dirty laundry. My MIL was having some issues with her skin getting itchy and I told her I had switched to Persil. She was using Tide and had been forever. The Persil helped her itchy skin out too.

I would imagine that farm life would have me reaching for some better scents too! You know it! Phew! I’m a Mrs Meyer’s fan for scents I like Mrs. Meyers too! Laundry smells even better if it's dried outside. That smell lasts a long time if the clothes are just in the closet. I've been scent free for years, scent is one of my migraine triggers. I can’t do that either. Environmental allergens (especially tree pollen) does me right in. I do love line dried laundry, especially sheets! I have a nice clothesline, but have limited times I can use it. DS had terrible allergies, mostly grass pollens (corn! yea.._) So I stayed away from line drying when he lived here. And a great deal of the summer I have terrible fly issues. The neighbors have cattle and hogs and do not use any fly control that I know of. If they do - it doesn't work well! LOL Our livestock are not right here at our home place, but we do use measures to control flies, by putting an additive in their feed that kills fly eggs in the manure. Makes a BIG difference.

First off - if you really hate scents, this probably isn't the thread for you! I LOVE having great smelling Laundry and have gone down the path of fun and great smelling Laundry soaps/beads/softeners. I still keep a jug of Liquid Persil for my go-to dirty job laundry. Can't beat that! And, Yes! I have bought a box of the imported German Persil washing powder, and it was very good! But a HUGE box lasted me a couple years! But I love finding Laundry soap that smells pretty. I find that I gravitate to the more masculine scents. My collection is bordering on "Rae Dunn" obsession. It started with Distinctive Washing Powder, from England. Oh it smells SO good! I have the Opulence of Amber scent. I have tried a few of the Zum scents. Stoneworks pods, Tyler Candle Co. (meh - wasn't in love with those). I have the latest Laundry Sauce scent, Italian Bergamont, on the way. I am excited for that. I love the Laundry Sauce products, but yikes, they are spendy. I have used them as gifts and get great feedback on that. I tell myself I don't drink and I don't smoke - so I can have a few vices!

I bought Speed Queen, the series 7 - 7 year warrantee on the washer. Will wash with truly hot water (most don’t even when it says hot for that cycle). It’s not a huge capacity - but it’s the exact same cubic feet capacity as my 24-year-old KitchenAid that I replaced. And yes, it’s a top-loader with agitator. THIS! Hot water! I need HOT water when I wash. My HE LG machine would never give me truly hot water. I had to actually stand there and turn off the cold water fill tap to force hot water into my HE LG and also trick it into thinking there was a heavier load to get more water in it. I also can't soak in my LG HE machine. It has a soak cycle, but it is like 20 minutes and then it drains. What! I've got weird funky water that turns white dingy orange after a while, so once in a while I do a long hot soak with Iron Out, so I want it to soak an hour at least. Plus - if you have ever gotten into "Laundry Stripping" - where they do a deep soak in bathtubs, etc. to strip out bed sheets and other items, you can do that in your washing machine if it can soak as long as you want it to. I do "Strips" on summer tshirts, bed linens, etc. I use an enzyme cleaner to get that funk out and really hot water. * I know there are better HE machines out there now, than that beast I have. And I realize most people don't have the nasty laundry that I have! LOL

I had (still have it) an LG without an agitator. It does not get clothes that clean. If you have normal laundry that would come clean with a 'swish' - then probably OK. I have dirty greasy ranchy poopy laundry. The clothes would come out with actual dirt still on them. I did load it right too.
I bought a Speed Queen old school machine. That machine gets clothes CLEAN! It doesn't take hours to do a load. It never goes off balance (YES! I loaded it right!) and I can wash odd things it in that the agitatorless machine can't handle.
I recommend the Speed Queen machine with an agitator. Made in the USA also!

Beware, this virus is not done with us yet. It's time to accept that it is the new normal. I do not think it will ever go away. And some of what we have may be virus that have always been around. Human Corona viruses were first identified over 60 years ago and they think they have probably existed for centuries. We have always vaccinated our livestock for them as long as I can remember. I know years before Covid-19 was introduced, people would get sick with a virus and it wasn't the "Flu" (the flu of that season) and it was "just a virus", sometimes more serious that other times. We are really hyper aware now. The world can't stop - but we can take precautions! I see a slide in the sanitation practices that I think really helped. Walmart is always out of the wipes for the carts, so I bring my own now. I saw a video of a guy that takes swabs and cultures them and he did shopping cards. Swab without being wiped, then same cart and wiped with a disinfecting wipe. I was BLOWN away. First swab culture was just blown up! Second cleaned before swab was nearly clear. Handwashing, sanitizing and wearing masks if you are sick or don't want to get sick work! But for the love of god - if you are hacking and sick - stay HOME! I thing employers that make their employees work when sick are harming everyone!

Too bad it's on Paramount. Ive reached my limit of streaming services Im willing to pay for. I have Paramount+ because I bought the Walmart+ app, and it comes with Paramount+. I am surprised at how much I like that one. And I love the Walmart app...

I really feel like she may have had a bowel surgery related to Crohn's. I have some friends that deal with Crohn's and have had to have bowel resections and I wasn't sure they were going to recover. They were young and ravaged by that disorder. I was truly worried that it would not end well. It is heartbreaking. And the recovery was months and they did not have a lot of stamina going in to the surgery. And I say friends, because I know more than one person with Crohn's. I am shocked by how many it affects. I know of at least 5 people that have it. Friends and family. I wish her well, and some of the really nasty commenters should just STFU. <-- by that I mean in general like on TikTok or X, not here!

we won't qualify for any help paying for it, we won't be able to send DD to college in 15 months if we spend money on her teeth, that we need to know plan B and plan C before May 14th... Please get a second opinion! I have ran into so many issues with dental work. Some want to do so much and so drastic - I would really be concerned about the surgery aspect of it. I have found that the larger dental practice or "big box" type practices are THE WORST! IMO, they are padding their wallets with unnecessary procedures. You will know best what to do for your own child, but get that second opinion even if it costs you something. It could save SO much down the line. My DD has a small mouth, they had to put in an "expander" that allowed all the teeth to fit. Same for my daughter. No teeth pulled, just the expander. She really had a fun gap there for a bit. LOL But the expander worked great and she was about the same age as your daughter. This was less than 10 years ago. DH had braces, so he went in with DD on consultation, and my DH is NOT afraid to ask questions and if something is really necessary and why it's necessary and if there are other options that work as well, but less invasive. But the best part was (and this was a little pre-planned) my DD did the 'wheel and deal' on the price. She asked if she (we) pre-paid the cost of the braces, etc. - it there was a price break. And she got one! LOL We don't have dental insurance - and I am pretty sure they don't bill as much as they do if they can get money out of an insurance company. We are far from destitute - to ask for discounts on dental. It was never an issue to pay it outright. But - it never hurts to ask for a price break! If the jaw surgery is going to be a necessity - it should be covered under your health insurance. All my kids wisdom teeth removals, which were oral surgery, were covered on our BC/BS. Well...sorta. Our deductible is so high, we paid pretty paid it.

Goat Rope or Goat Roper here.
But they do have actual Goat Ropings here, usually during the winter inside someone's arena at their house. For something fun on a cold day. And usually kids can participate more.
Have you heard of Rexall Rancher? Those are the guys and gals who dress the part, but don't own any cows. Drug Store cowboy. LOL
