No--when I was a child, downtown had two great bakeries. We could watch the cake decorators create beautiful cakes, and I became fascinated. As an adult, I took a Wilton cake class, and I dabble in it as a hobby.

I don’t care for them and can’t think of anyone who I would bring one to. April Fools?

After working at a university for 34 years, I know that my generation was more tolerant than the previous generation, and I feel that the next generation are better people than us.

I have never known big family gatherings. I always wondered what that would be like. Never entertained more than 6 or 8 people for the holidays. It's awesome, but they are rare. My grandmother was one of 11 children. In 1968, my great aunt hosted a reunion and over a 100 descendants attended. On the 100th anniversary of my great grandfather proving his homestead in 2006, there was a reunion, but it was a lot of work for my mom's cousin, who lives on the original homestead.

I was lucky to have my mom for 62 years. She passed away this morning under hospice. Lost my dad in 2016, sister in 2017. I don’t know how I will be without both parents. But so blessed to have them for so long. Can’t imagine losing them so young. Gentle hugs I'm so sorry about your mom.

Probably one. Other friendships have become stronger. I have known this person since I was 14 years old, but there were differences in views as we aged. The pandemic has caused these differences to intensify.

This thread is a "heart issue" for me. My dad's family was musically talented. My uncles and dad played together. My middle uncle was regionally known. My dad gave up preforming publicaly because he was shy, but when he came in from working in the field, he needed to play his violin, "his heart instrument." He would play the guitar, his first instrument, for me. He was a beautiful waltzer also.
My parents paid for piano lessons for me. Their goal was that I enjoyed music. I am not a great musician, but I play the organ for pleasure. Because of my father, I have a love of many types of music.

In my younger days I played the trumpet, french horn, tenor saxophone. All the way up through high school. When my kids were younger I learned how to play the bass guitar. I sold my bass when I was destitute and couldn't make rent. I often think about buying another and giving it another go. I very much enjoyed it. Do it!!

I started playing the flute in grade 6. I played all through high school and even though I haven’t touched it in over 10 years, I could pick it up and still play well. But deep inside, my inner drummer SO wishes I had tried drums when I took music in high school. Go for it now!!

I like Nine Lives of Christmas because it doesn't have snow. At least 70% of the population of the contiguous United States live in places that don’t have snow by Christmas. But, if you watch Hallmark Christmas movies, you could assume that Christmas cannot happen without snow. Christmas can't happen without snow, lol.

No doubt she’s incredibly rude and a total bitch. But am I the only one surprised that a ballpark only has 1 handicap/family bathroom? I guess I’m assuming we’re talking minor/major league and not little league. "Family restrooms provide extra room and a space for mixed genders--exactly what a handicapped person who needs assistance might need. I don't think the concept of a family restroom is exclusive to parents with small children. And a wheelchair-bound person may have a lot of trouble maneuvering in many handicapped stalls. Typical handicapped stalls are built to accommodate someone who has trouble moving, sitting, etc. and don't offer enough space for two adults when someone needs aid transitioning from a wheelchair or emptying a bag."
Supersoda explained the difference between a handicapped-accessible toilet area and a wheelchair-accessible toilet area. With many handicapped-accessible bathroom stalls, a wheelchair can't fit inside and have the door closed.

I love that lanky, slightly awkward "teenage" look a dog gets as he/she grows. He is too cute ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/5645536/images/MNrJDkDuSwqIMVw33MdD.jpg) The photo reminds me of the English Shepard, who watched over me from age 5-19. I remember him as a cute puppy, an awkward "teenager," to a strong adult, and an "alter statesman," who outsmarted coyotes. Shep, love and remember you forever.

OMG!! I’m right there with you! I’m in Fargo as my dad is in the hospital here, taken by ambulance, so everything was short notice. The 1st night there were no hotel rooms as there was a convention and guns and roses concert. I had my 2 girls and my brother calling every hotel in the area, as I was in the ER with my dad. My dd found me one in Moorhead. It was like the cheapest thing ever, and the kind where people end up living. And people are either getting dropped off in the am by a truck of guys or someone is doing the walk of shame in the AM. Anyway, the room itself was clean, the hallways and lobby not so much. It didn’t have bed bugs and I didn’t get shot. So it worked out. I slept for 4 hours and was back to the hospital in the am. All for 55$. Yikes I'm sorry about your father. Praying for him.

I am so sorry. I remember a scary hotel room in Mobridge, SD. It was the only room we could find because the region was celebrating "Custer Days." The family vacation was cut short, and we headed home.

DS16 is in a baseball tournament aboit 3 hours away from home. I wasn’t sure how many days we would be here (depends on how they do) so decided to go day by day in regards to a hotel. The team is staying at a hotel that is pretty expensive (more than I wanted to pay for a potential 3-4 nights). Last night DS9 and I stayed in an Econolodge in a town about 20 miles from the field. It was ok, but the drive was a little much going back and forth, and the hotel wasn’t great. They won today so we needed to stay again. There wasn’t much available and we ended up at a motel that didn’t look bad online but yikes. I’m not thrilled, and DS is scared. Partly because there are a lot of motorcycles here (not sure why that scared him) and because he thinks we wikl get robbed (I think because of the access from the outside). Anyway, that part doesn’t bother me. But the tv makes a fuzzy noise, only one outlet works right, there is a dead cricket in the bathroom and a live moth (probably because the door to the outside has a little gap between the door and the doorstop), and it smells a little strange. The bathroom door doesn’t close all the way. One of the towels in the bathroom was folded differently than the other and has me wondering if someone used it and it looked just enough like it hadn’t been used that they didn’t change it? I don’t know. The outlets and the cleanliness (or lack of) are what bothers me the most. I’m guessing I can’t get my money back? Send some positive thoughts that we can get some sleep. Right now ds says he is sleeping in the chair because it is farther from the door.

Not Yellowstone, but I just returned from the Fraternal Order of Eagles convention in Phoenix. The resort had a wonderful pastry chef(s); the deserts were wonderful. I was served chicken breasts at two banquets and a luncheon. That disappointed me. 113 degrees outside the last two days. Which hotel? JW Marriott Hotel and Resort in Phoenix, AZ

I am so sorry; your house must feel empty. ((Hugs)) I have been around cats my entire life; but I have lived with a Siamese for 36 years, and I hope I never live without one. Dusty, a Siamese mix from an "oops" litter, taught me how wonderful Siamese cats are. Bree, a one-person cat, taught me more about Siamese cats for over 17 years. (She was a better fetcher than my Sheltie.) Bailey is teaching me about Siamese boy cats. Thankfully, kitten Bailey helped me through a cold North Dakota winter and then a pandemic.
My cleaning woman is a dog person, who has never had a cat. She loves Bailey, and she asked me if cats are like Bailey. I said "No, he is personality plus."
